I just installed windows last night without any software on it but all the drives it takes about 30 seconds from putting in my password. I have nothing what so ever running in startup so I'm a bit confused. I'm using Crucial brand new SSD and 16gigs of G.Skill ram and both are working fine. I didn't update windows.
View 9 RepliesI had a PC with a Windows 7 install for the last two years that had a motherboard go bad. I ended up buying a Tigerdirect combo (hardware specifics below) and just decided to reuse the case with my original install drive. After taking some time to retune itself to new drivers, the computer kept freezing at random times. In some other forums on this site, I thought it driver related (even though I had updated everything including new MB bios). To make things easier, I installed a new 80GB SSD drive and put in a fresh install of Windows 7. Have updated everything to the nines and avoided adding any additional software until I had data and stuff organized from my previous install. However, the randome gremlin seems to have come back at random times.
I've tried setting memory frequency from auto to the speed in the BIOS, but found this thread and have attached the BSOD zip file for some help. Any thoughts on what is the issue? It may be a hardware problem, but I have run memtest on the memory and just can't seem to find the culprit.

Processor = Intel Core i3-2100
Memory = Patriot 4GB DDR3
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
I just finished installing Windows 7 Enterprise x86 on someones PC, and installed some drivers and applications.However, I've gotten 2 BSOD's (so far) whilst browsing with Internet Explorer, the computer was not stressed. Another one was during an online ESET Virusscan.I don't quite feel like installing Windows 7 YET again, so any help trying to locate the error and fixing it is much obliged.

I have had this problem ever since the summer. I would tell you the speeds I'm getting from testmy.net, but the page is still loading. It's been over 30 minutes.Anyway, I have installed the drivers for the motherboard that came with the disc and such, and I still have no success. It is really annoying at this point, basically not being able to use my computer.

Status 0xc000009a". No other info, no reference to any file such as hyberfil.sys. I have tried to "powercfg -h on/off", reboot defrag and reactivate hibernation, however the problem is still there.....what can I try?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy PC started taking ~30 seconds to shut down recently. This never happened before. I must add that it doesn't always happen. If I restart / shut down soon after turning the computer, it shuts down in under 5 seconds. But if I use it for several hours then it takes half a minute or so.I can't think of many things I changed, but I remember installing a number of Windows updates and also new Catalyst 12.10 video card drivers.Things I've tried: Checked the "ClearPageFileAtShutdown" setting, it's 0. Tried this tutorial and used the 2 second thing, no change. Enabled verbose startup, shutdown, logon, and logoff status Messages. This was pretty useless as when shutting down it cycles through "Stopping services" and other stuff faster than I can read, but then gets stuck on the "Shutting down" part, not very informative There doesn't seem to be any hung apps because I get no prompt to end task (I got that a few times before, and it seems to happen way before it goes into the "Shutting down" message).

I tried everything downloaded the new 191 drivers in safe mode uninstalled re installed etc then rebooted in regular mode and nothing. Please help. Is anyone else experiencing this too.
So now I have to disable nvidia graphics card in order to get into desktop and use the internet. This is where I am.
Everything worked on vista 32bit and I did a custom install with Windows 7 64bit. I also used Windows 7 compatability manager everything was ok, but had to do custom install.
I recently noticed my computer taking long to bootup (stuck on the Windows Logo screen for about 5 minutes or more) when I have my extra IDE Harddrive and CD Drive plugged in. However, when I unplug both of them, the computer boots faster.

I only have three startup programs running, Avast 7, Realtek Audio, and Catalyst. I don't have a password and only have one account (admin). I know that 12-15 seconds is not so much of an issue but I think that the normal waiting time is only less than 5 seconds and I think 12-15 seconds is not right because I am running Windows 7 on a Core i7 950 3Ghz and 7200rpm Hard disk. I already defragged my hard disk using Auslogic Disk Defrag and scanned my computer for virus.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had a change in my boot up. After I get the BIOS screen, I get a 1 or 2 second screen that says that it cannot detect the C: drive. Then I get a screen that lasts for 20 seconds titled Windows Boot Manager. The Windows 7 item is highlited and if I press enter or wait the 20 seconds, Windows loads. All my apps work with no problem. It's more of a mild concern that it is of a problem.

I chose the upgrade option because I had quite a lot of installed program. I didn't backup my files.
It took about 2 hours to complete first 4, I think, steps before the 1st reboot. Then the upgrade rebooted my machine again and the monitor screen went black, while the computer idle light indicator was actively blinking. Then it took another 2 hours doing so with a black screen before I saw Windows is Starting logo and then the screen again went black. The idle light indicator blinks approximately once a second but nothing else happened in last many hours (about 10). I started the upgrade at 4:20pm and now it is 11:33 am next day.
my laptop's screen keeps going dark after being on for only a few seconds. When the screen goes dark, I have to move my mouse around to get the screen to come back on which it usually does. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Velocity Micro desktop, it came with XP Media Center 32 bit and has a Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of ram, I've been wanting to try 7 for a long time so I bought a new 1TB WD black hard drive and a OEM copy of Win 7 home premium, I removed the old hard drive, installed new drive and proceeded to install Win 7, everything went fine on the install but I can't get it to connect to the internet, it reports error 651 "The modem has reported an error" and then a box pops up that looks like an old dial up connection box with a spot for a name and password and says redial in 45 sec. I'm not on dial up but am on DSL with a new Netgear N router, this computer was connecting fine just before I did the install, if I check Device manager it says the network card is working properly, and I can unhook the network cable from this computer and plug it into an old laptop with no wireless and it connects with the cable and gets 5Mbps speed so nothing is wrong with the cable

I get to the login screen, enter my password, it then says welcome and fades out like usual. But insted of it going to my desktop it just goes blank for five to ten seconds with only the curser in the center of the screen spinning round as if it was loading somthing.I have had this problem for a few months now and have lived with it. I know it is just my user account because I tried making a new account and it works perfectly.

When I turned my computer on and off manually, I get a black screen that asks me if I want to go into safe mode. It says to use the arrows keys and press enter to choose which mode to go into, but the keyboard is unresponsive at this screen.
What do I do? How do I get into safe mode? Do I need to bring my computer in to the computer repair shop?

I can't open certain programs, as it says that I don't have the correct java, or its not recognized. I've always had java before, and when I tired to update, it was telling me that it either A. Couldn't do it, or B. It wasn't installed for some kind of error. I've deleted the java, and redownloaded it, and still the same problems. Also, on the automatic updates, its not letting the windows 7 SP1 update either. Maybe has to do with the Java, or vice versa?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwindows 7 x64 on my laptop (intel core i5 @ 2.50ghz, 4 gb ram) has recently started freezing for a few seconds every few seconds, when i'm doing just about anything: browsing the web, copying files, using text redactor, etc. only the mouse cursor responds, control is back after a couple of seconds.
* the behaviour remains the same when booting in the safe mode
* there are no cpu or memory usage peaks in process explorer
* there are no hardware conflicts in device manager
* there are no critical errors in system log
* there is no antivirus active
* hardware tests (memory, etc.) do not report any errors
i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.
I installed a new motherboard an asus p8p67 with a intel i3 and upgraded to windows 7 64bit. Everything went fine the first day, but next day everything kept telling me to install flash player which I already did that along with java. I went to control panel flash player was there hit update, says I had latest version. I uninstalled flash player went to adobe and downloaded it again, install process says I have the newest version already installed but I have no flash installed at this moment. The little bar at bottom keeps saying website wants to install following adobe flash player addon which is showing right now as I write this. I installed it at first with the default 32 bit internet explorer which is ie9 but now nothing seems to work and still have no flash player installed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having these random BSODs everytime. I've tried resetting my laptop on its factory defaults and still getting this random blue screens. I also tested my memory using Memtest with atleast 5 passes, NO errors reported. I used check disk many times.
I also tried sfc /scannow but it stopped at 45%. Also I always get errors like "...has stopped working" from any apps. I've tried updating all the drivers to the latest, still no luck. I've done 5x full recovery and still BSODs.
