Disable The Harddisk Drives Accessing Form Other User Account?

in windows 7 i hav created a new user(others) . i am the administrator and hav to restrict access of some hard drives like c:,g: from the user(others)..!! how to do tat and i had to disable the control panel,cmd prompt,run also..!1) i went to group policies and try to disable the hard drives..!! but in tat i can see onli "restrict A,B and C drives" but i need to restrict drives c: and g:..!! and how to select the other user account..?? the drive restricted in my administrator account itself..!2)i hav managed to disable the cmd prompt,ctrl panel but its getting disabling in my admin account but i need to disable in other account.

How do I disable the command prompt for a standard user account on my computer? Can my geeky teenager get around Windows7 parental controls by using the command prompt from his standard account on my computer?
Apps I use need large amount of free memory and CPU. But also I use to be online for much time. I use AVG Internet Security. But it takes a larger amount of Memory and CPU. I don't use Internet while working, so I don't need Antivirus security while working. I created 2 Use Accounts one for my work and another one for online browsing. Tried to disable AVG protection on my work account. But it didn't work because AVG don't have single user installation option. Also tried to disable AVG on start up but it applied for the both accounts. I don't want to switch to any other Antivirus because I'm pretty much satisfied with AVG and using AVG from more than 4yrs."Is there any way to disable Apps on Secondary Accounts?".
i start my pc up (from being off) and get logged into a temp user profile. It tells me that i cannot acess my user profile and all information will be deleted on logging out. I've looked online for a soloution but none work for me ,I really dont know how to resolve this problem,I have limited knowledge and computer skills. i really dont want to scrap this drive and start over.
I'm currently running a primary disk for my system drive on windows 7, with two other 1tb drives for saving data set to raid1(Mirror each other ). However my primary disk has problems and need to be upgraded.Would I need to reformat the two mirror data drives before i do the upgrade in order to ensure the raid 1 is working
I installed a second HDD on my laptop that can have up to 4 different HDD. I have a XP running on the first HDD. I just installed Windows 7 Premium 32bit on the second HDD. When the installation was done, Windows 7 can see and access the folders/files/drives from the first HDD. How do I restrict this? I knew how to do this with XP but I can't figure out how to do this with Windows 7. Basically, I don't want the Windows 7/Second HDD interacting with the first.
My friend and I share my laptop. Recently I found out that he was watching porn on my computer. So I promptly confronted him, and told him to stop. Weeks later, he did it again. So I downloaded Norton's Safety Minder to prevent it. So this sneaky prick goes around and enables the guest account, and lo and behold, porn fest again.What can I do? I don't want to keep him off the admin account, because he plays games on here, but I don't want him watching porn on my laptop either. Is there a way to put parental settings on the guest account? I know you can disable it, tried that, he just re-enables it, then disables it before he gets off. I'm really frustrated about this.
I'm not sure why this is happening, but if I attempt to open a drive in Windows Explorer, it takes a really long time (sometimes several minutes). It takes that long for the progress bar on the address bar to fill up. Does anyone know why this would be?
I am using Windows 7 Pro 64x and apparently the default user account (Owner) that I use is not working correctly. Unless I have UAC set to Never Notify, I cannot open Control Panel or UAC again. I have created a second user account as Administrator and it works correctly.
I would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem short of a clean install of Windows. If not, is it possible to move all of my settings to the user account that works correctly and delete the one that does not.
I'm hoping to teach Mum how to use my PC in the near future and she will only be using it for typing etc and maybe the internet. Also she only use it sometimes. shall I create a Limited User Account for her or turn on the Guest Account?
I would appreciate any help identifying the cause of extremely slow log on times for a user account on our family laptop. The machine is running Windows 7 - 64-bit version, and currently has 3 users accounts 2 admin and 1 regular. The regular account has begun to experience log on times that last for minutes (The Welcome splash screen prior to log on screen), while the admin accounts have no problems. I have seen other posts regarding slow log on times, but I haven't seen those which address the issue for a specific user account.
I had a Dell Laptop with Win7 64-bit. But there was a problem and it wouldn't boot anymore. The problem is that there are some very important files in that laptop. So, I got that hard drive out and connected it to my Toshiba (Win7, 32-bit) as an external drive. I was not able to access the 'user' files from the dell. When I tried to open it, I got an error message 'access denied'. So, I went to properties --> Security --> Advanced, and changed the permissions to everyone. Now, when I open the folder 'Documents and Settings', it opens the folder on my Toshiba, and not the actual files that are on that hard drive. I need to get those files out of there.
I have always been running admin and even until now I run as admin. But, I have been doing a little bit of research and realize that using a standard account is a safer practice. I have never even used a standard account.Is using a standard account a better practice? Also, how does doing average task such as installing programs and updating work through the standard user account?
How do I map existing User Folders to a newly created User Account?I had existing User Folders on drive D. I added a new drive C and installed the OS on C but changed default location of User Folders to D. Now my existing User Folders are in the Users folder on D but there is no User Account associated with them. If I create a user account with the same name will it map to the existing folder within Users?I did a test of this. I created a folder called Test within Users then created a User account called Test and logged in. It created another folder within Users called Test.Computername.
I got a few Facebook accounts associated with obsolete email accounts. I want to know how to disable the facebook accounts. I looked on google to look for contact or live support but facebook doesnt offer that service. I don,t want my information floating out where anyone can grab it. Where to contact facebook or a way to delete the old accounts?
Im currently using a standard user account.Ive tried the elevated command prompt net user administrator/active:no command and it said the command had completed successfully.But i can still access the administrator account at log on.Any ideas please how i can disable the admin account and just have the standard user account running?
In the past, I have had to use the built-in Administrator account to install Microsoft's virtualization software and install Windows XP Mode (I don't know why it wouldn't install before, I even disabled UAC with failed results). In order to do this, I enabled the Administrator account via Command Prompt, as recommended by a tech support specialist I used the command "net user administrator /active yes" and the Admin account was active, I installed the program, disabled the Administrator account, and went on my merry way.
It is now about a year later and after I have created a system image of my computer (I only made one because I do not have enough sufficient storage to make multiple ones, or even replace my current one) I have found out that there is an issue with command prompt or something... I unfortunately do not know. I had to reactivate the Administrator account for one reason or another and did my business, but after I reactivated it I came to find that the same command to activate the Administrator account... Changed its password. I used a Linux Live CD with Ophcrack to find out that the password for my Admin account was changed to "yes". And after I tried to disable the account, INSTEAD of it being disabled, the password was set to "no" hence "net user administrator /active no". I decided to experiment on the matter with other accounts, and typing in other words besides "yes" or "no" and I found that the net user command will change the password of any account. This is disturbing to me and also, I would like to easily enable or disable any account without changing any passwords.
I am using both a laptop and tablet to check email I have set up both devices with imap accounts.
The issue is that I don't want to lose all my old folders and email from the old pop3 account and I can't find a way to move or copy them to the newly created account on my laptop so I'd like to leave the old account, inactive, in Outlook.
Also, I don't want to get messages into two different folders. Is there a way to disable the old pop3 account without removing it?
I have tried deleting the password so it won't send/receive from that account but all I get is the constant "enter password" box which is naturally not an ideal state of affairs.
PS it probably isn't relevant but FYI the tablet is a Motorola Xoom Android and the laptop is an Asus running Win 7 Home Premium and Outlook 2010 as in the subject line.
I'm running on a relatively new install of Windows 7 64bit Ultimate. I recently (about 2-3 weeks ago) installed a new HD and decided to have a fresh start so everything was formatted followed by win 7 install. Everything has been running great up until mid day yesterday. Out of what seems like nowhere I experienced 6 or 7 BSOD's yesterday and from what I could tell they occurred when I tried to do any of the following: 1. Access drive D and play a video file (This is the new HD, it would instantly BSOD). 2. Access internet within 1 minute of startup.
Since yesterday I haven't had any BSOD's and have had the computer running, I haven't tried to play any videos off of HD and haven't reset my computer since (hoping that whatever it was has gone away, although I'm sure it hasn't). For the record I have accessed some music files on drive D without any issue, as well as several word and excel documents (not sure if that makes any difference?)I have a feeling it may have something to do with my new HD that I installed, but have no idea what it could be as it was running without issue up until yesterday (for at least 2 if not 3 weeks).

I have yet to do soI've enclosed a system health report and minidump file as outlined on forum requirements.
I'm having a problem with this known bug in UAC related with subst and mapped drives and can't find a workaround.
I have a standard user account (NOT in the administrators group) which I use every time and another which is an admin which I use only to elevate processes though UAC when prompted. I'm used to have a drive mapped with the "subst" command to point at a local directory in my hard disk, which is run at each logon with a bat file placed in the startup menu.
Problem is that, whenever I elevate any program with UAC, that program doesn't sees the mapped drive. Moreover, if I try to elevate a program whose executable lies in the subst'ed drive, after prompting for my password it says the .exe I just double-clicked doesn't exists.
Has anyone solved this problem in some "elegant" way? I don't really like to get rid of that drive for convenience, and using the full path to the real file is just a pain.
I was installing a patch so i could get the Personalization Panel on my Windows 7 Home Edition and had to restart my computer. When i was logging in my user account i typed my password and the screen just went black and then just brought me back to the start up screen where you pick a user. I share a computer with my sister and she couldn't log in her account either. I'm guessing there was probably some kind of virus or something but i'm not sure. What can i do?
I've got a computer with Windows 7 Home Premium. There are two users, but I want that the computers always starts with the same user (no password) and not to show the user select screen.
I know one can change how to allow User Account Control to change its settings (the slider) but is there a way for controlling which programs are always allowed (giving it permission hence never having to see that annoying window for that program)? I do not want to disable it. I just want Windows 7 to know which programs to allow and which to not allow.
I just got a new computer. I had my User Account setup, had a password on it. I was making sure Windows was up to date, had to restart, then restarted on its own again(I'm assuming part of the update), and when it booted back up, it said my account has been disabled. Please contact your system administrator. I can sign in under Administrator, or Other User. The password I set up with my account doesn't work for Administrator. Is there a default password?
