I recently bought a dell N5030 that has windows 7 installed. The problem I am haveing is that when I go to download I get a error msg that says "error 2738. could not access VBScript runtime for custom action" I have not a clue what this means ? I had downloaded things before with no problem and dont know what or why this is coming up.

While this CAN be done manually, because of the required build process, I do not have the option of manually adding the program to the notification area; I will need to automate this via a script or other method.I've found VB scripts for adding ("pinning") programs to the Start Menu and Taskbar, but not for the Notification Area.DIT: To clarify further, I want to change the Behavior for this program from "Only show notifications" to "Show icon and notifications", but do so from a command line or script.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of a strange issue with a script placed in the startup folder on a windows 7 machine. When windows loads, it runs 2 copies of the script at the same time. Both scrips error out because as they try to access certain files they find they're "in use." By the other script I'm assuming. I'm wondering why the script is getting double executed, and how I can stop it.
Right after the scripts error out, if you manually click the script in the startup folder it runs with no issues. Only on startup does it run twice and not work.
Got a real issue with Windows 7 and printers,
We used a vbscript in the past to add to shared printers which worked great in XP, however that same vbscript is very hit and miss in a domain environment whereby sometimes printers map, sometimes they don't.
So i moved to using Group Policy Preferences, and that killed the logon speed, the duration is as much as 5-6 minutes to logon.
I have VBscript to copy folders or files to other location. But this doesn't seem to run on windows 7 machine. Any help in why this might be.Reason for this is we want take backup of just one particular folder every month on C drive to network drive. Now can set backup to do this but way it does it you have drill down to find the folder.

I have a new machine running Win 7 Home Premium 64, which came preinstalled with Office 2010 Starter. I'm trying to uninstall all Office software, but Office Click-to-Run 2010 won't uninstall.When I try to uninstall it from the Programs and Features screen, I get an error message that reads, "The action could not be completed. I searched through Toshiba sites and found where to download some drivers that was "suppose" to FIX it!!!! Then when I went in to ck for updates on all of my drivers/programs/etc...there were two sets that had multi-sets, I think were some of the downloads...There were a few drivers that were NOT even downloaded onto the computer...which I did NOT know till I did the total computer update one by one!!!! I have had several computers but NEVER had as MANY problems with one until I purchased this JUNK! (Sorry, I have had it with this Laptop, LOL) Can you tell me HOW I can fix this last error.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 laptop (Thinkpad T420s), Many times I have tried setting the "Power buttons and lid -> Lid close action" to Hibernate on "On Battery" and "Plugged in" but when I click ok and immediately open the same settings via "Change advanced power settings" I see that my changes are not saved and the settings shows default value "Do nothing".I even tried changing the "Power plan" to Balanced, "Maximum battery life" etc but nowhere I could get this option work.I tried "powercfg /hibernate on" and then doing the above things but that too did not I tried other option also ("Sleep") , but they too did not work and the settings revert to default "Do nothing" everytime.Modifying "Change what closing the lid does" also does not work.Could somebody give me some clue about how do I set it up to Hibernate on "lid close". Right now I have created a shortcut for hibernate and double click on it before closing the lid.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows is currently freezing up after startup. This started after receiving a blue screen during one startup. On the next startup, there was a small dialogue box; I opted not to restore the computer to a previous state.
Now, Windows loads normally, but generally the first action taken freezes the computer (mouse will move, but that's it). I have managed open a text file, and even updated Adobe Reader from the tray. I also opened Task Manager from right-click on the bottom bar. Trying to end a process, create a text file, or open Explorer, Firefox, or any other program I've tried causes a freeze up. Safe Mode seems to work fine.

At first glance, it looked like a server issue (mine) or a website "down" problem. After searching the web, I could not find a solution for this specific runtime error. There was a bunch of misinformation posted in other forums! The solution was so simple.... I cleaned out all cookies with CCleaner and the page was available.....This error does not show on a "pop-up" like the Microsoft samples. Thus, Microsoft was no help to me in this instance.
