Windows is currently freezing up after startup. This started after receiving a blue screen during one startup. On the next startup, there was a small dialogue box; I opted not to restore the computer to a previous state.
Now, Windows loads normally, but generally the first action taken freezes the computer (mouse will move, but that's it). I have managed open a text file, and even updated Adobe Reader from the tray. I also opened Task Manager from right-click on the bottom bar. Trying to end a process, create a text file, or open Explorer, Firefox, or any other program I've tried causes a freeze up. Safe Mode seems to work fine.

recently my computer has been acting a bit odd. When I turn it on it starts up like normal, I input my password and it starts loading everything. But once everything is loaded at the start up the taskbar freezes and so does the rest of the desktop. I can move my mouse but it does nothing and I'm not able to open the taskmanager at all with ctrl+alt+del. The computer runs fine in safe mode. I've already gone through and cleaned up my system, fixed any registry problems, and defragged my hdd. I've scanned for any malware and came up with nothing. I've disabled all non-necessary programs in msconfig for startup. I've been able to do a system restore to about a week ago, and that would fix the problem for a bit, but it would happen again if the computer went into sleep mode.
I've had issues with this thing for awhile but for the sake of the forum I'l stick to my current issue.Upon startup, everything works fine. I put in my login password and Windows begins to load. While Windows is loading it just reezes. The only thing I can say is it freezes after most of the applications load but it's still searching for networks. Straight freezenothing works. However, and this was weird, out of the 4 or 5 times it froze last night, one of the times I was still able to move the mouse. Nothing else worked though. My drivers should be up to date. I do check them and update them as needed.I do regular checks for viruses and spyware. I use free programs that are updated regularly.I "clean up" my system on somewhat regular basis.I defragment the hard drive on a somewhat regular basis.I clean my registry regularly.I deleted the programs that start up with the computer that I don't need. Winamp, my spyware scanner, and this clean-your-PC program I downloaded (see below) no result I recently got suckered into one of those clean your PC programs that cost like 20 bucks. That's the only major program I've downloaded recently. I did a system restore to before I downloaded that and the same problem occurred. The computer works fine in safe mode. Even "with networking" it connects to the internet just fine.I did just realize I didn't do a virus scan in safe mode last night, I'll do that when I get home tonight. But if you guys know a good free virus scanner to use let me know, otherwise I'll follow up if the virus scan fixes it.
I have a weird problem with my Windows 7. When I restart it, it will 90% of the time freeze right after startup (from 30 seconds to 5 minutes after startup). The cursor just won't move and everything on the screen is still and I have to reboot to get it back working. Unless it freezes again (which it does most of the time). I have to try about 10 to 15 times each time I restart my computer to get it working, and it seems to be completely random. I haven't been able to isolate the problem and I don't think this is a hardware issue because my laptop is running linux (ubuntu) flawlessly.
As for my config:
ASUS N61JQ Laptop : intel core i7 1.6 ghz ATI mobility radeo HD 5730 4gb ddr ram 320 gb hard drive 7200 rpm
I also have an external hard drive of 1 TB that's connected to my laptop.
Earlier this afternoon, my Toshiba laptop running windows 7 restarted itself without any prompting. Since then, I have not been able to start it in normal mode without it restarting itself of freezing either during the startup or just after. I can open it in safe mode with networking, but that is it.
Ive tried fixing the registry, Ive tried antivirus software, Ive tried system restores, and Ive tried running a clean boot. None of these have worked.
I'm having issues with W7 freezing soon after startup. It works fine for 5 min TOPS and the next second I know, it's frozen and I get the busy icon (like a circle) in place of my mouse pointer. Then if I wait a few more minutes, I get the pictures below(in that order). I'm not the only one to use the computer so did someone else mess something up?
The problem is every time i start the computer after a few minutes it just randomly freezes and i have to restart. I have run virus scans and it says there is nothing wrong, i defragmented my hd it didn't work i even tried a system restore and I'm still having the same problem.
about a week or two ago i posted on the virus and malware removal forums and followed all the steps i was given and afterwards my computer stopped freezing and started up normally again. now it has started again, although no blue screens like before, and im wondering if its something else... I use norton i dont know if that could be it? I was wondering because if its not causing it then ill have removed it for no reason... it seems like it was for some other people though

Having a bit of a nightmare troubleshooting a problem with my Acer Aspire Desktop.Sometimes it freezes after start up. maybe about 2 mins after logging in. Yesterday it freezed at the bios screen where I can choose safe mode, safe mode with networking etc.Sometimes the monitor has a 'no signal' message on it and I have to reboot to get it back working.I am running out of ideas of how to fix the problem, as sometimes it does not crash at all and I have absolutely no problems I have run windows ram diagnostic I have downloaded and run a cpu test with a diagnostic from Intel's website.I have done a hard drive test, I did a scannow for to check if there were any problems with system files I ran Ccleaner,I did a full scan with kaspersky and malwarebytes. Malwarebytes did show up 3 malware I downloaded combofix and turned off everything and did a scan with that. I ran Microsoft fix it - and that said my recycle bin was corrupt so it fixed it. I made sure all my drivers were up to date and I ran a windows update. I have a lot of errors with event viewer but have absolutely no idea to do use it. Sometimes the computer works no problem. Had no problems Monday. But yesterday it froze straight away after turning it on, and again at the safe mode, safe mode networking and last known good configuration screen. I started it is safe mode Then I started it normally and it worked fine again.
Im having a few problems with my laptop, its an Acer Aspire 5735 and have not long put windows 7 32 bit onto it, it has been working fine for about a week or 2 now and last night i turned it on and it would not start up at all.I have tried starting it up normally but that fails to work, it gets to Starting Windows and just freezes there, nothing happens at all. Also i have tried the Windows Startup Repair (recommended) and that fails to work as well it just gets to microsoft corporation and just freezes there aswell, i have tried booting up from the CD but that fails as well, it gets to loading windows files then freezes at the end again
I recently built a new pc and I'm having some issues with Windows 7 which seems to freeze on start up. By this I mean at the "Starting Windows" screen the animation will start but will freeze after a couple of seconds. It usually takes me about 3 restarts to then get into windows. I haven't been using Windows Repair tool because the restore deletes all of the programmes that I've put on and the crashing continues to happen despite the changes. I'll list my specs below:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit ASRock Pro3 Gen3 Z68 Intel Core i5 2500k currently @ stock speed Gigabyte 560Ti OC OCZ ZS 550w 8GB DDR3 Crucial Ballistix 1600mhz Kingston HyperX 120gb SSD (Boot Drive) Western Digital 1TB Caviar Blue (Overflow Drive)
I don't think the SSD is the problem because when I did the install on the WD HDD I still had the instability and the crashes. The drivers I have installed are: Realtek LAN drivers, Nvidia 500 series Graphics, Nvidia HD Audio and all of the "Important" Windows 7 updates.
Ever since the latest update to AMD Catalyst a week or so ago, when I start up my computer from being completely off, something strange happens. After a few seconds, the AMD Core Line still has not started up, the cursor freezes, and the keyboard are all non responsive. If the cursor had the "working in the background" blue spinner, that freezes and no longer animates.I have tried reinstalling AMD Core Line and checked its settings. Didn't find anything useful. I say "tried," cuz I was unable to successfully uninstall it, it was left in an unusable state, but then I did successfully reinstall it.
I've bought an MSI 990XA-GD55 3 weeks ago. I've formatted my hdd, installed a clean x64 ultimate, installed newest drivers and updated the bios. However, there began some problems at startup about my mouse. Randomly, lets say, in every 7-8 Boots, my computer doesnt recognise my mouse, saying that "device could not be installed" or something like that, you know, the default "usb device error".. And i must either re-plug it, or restart the computer..I've changed the ports, re-done everyting, but no chance..It happens randomly, just before "Welcome" screen appears, the light of the mouse fades away, and after Welcome screen, cursor does not move.Thinking that it would be a mo'bo issue, i've changed it with a better model MSI 990FXA-GD65.Another format, another install of the newest things, bios update..However, shit happens again!I've got a A4 X7 XL-750BK mouse, which is kinda new and doesnt have (and had) any problem except this one. Some say, that i should change it; but i'm really confused about it, because it runs just fine and smooth.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L505 with Windows 7 64bit. After starting up and entering the log in screen my computer freezes. I can access and work the computer through safe mode with no problems. I've checked the drivers and all are fine but one. The hdaudbus.sys is updated but will not startup. Is this what is stopping my computer from running in normal mode? Also, I have reformatted the hard drive and have also reset the computer back to factory setting.
Just put together a brand new computer, Windows installed fine (running x64 bit Ultimate),everything loaded up fine the first time. Then I installed the driver and utility for my network card, and everything seemed fine til I got an internet connection, at which point it froze, and the only fix is a restart. Now every time it boots it freezes, sometimes within 10 seconds of starting, sometimes it doesn't make it past the "Welcome" screen and it'll just freeze. Haven't gotten to use my new machine for more than 20 seconds at a time, extremely annoying. In safe mode there doesn't seem to be a problem, I've had it on for more than 20 mins and it's been fine. Does anyone know where I can start looking to fix this? I've been struggling with this thing for 3 days and I'm running out of ideas. I've recently begun to have a problem about my USB mouse and my new mobo.

My other system elements are X3 720 B.E, 2x4Gb Geil Enhance Corsa 1600Mhz, Sapphire Radeon 5870 V2, 1TB Samsung HDD, etc..
OH, almost forgot the add..I've also got a USB Powered Sound Card, a Line 6 UX2, and it just works flawlessly, never had such "functional" problems..
My desktop is freezing every time at the startup logo when switched on..it was working perfectly for the past one month.. when i restart the system it asks whether to start normally or start with the system repair.. but even after giving any of the above option the system still gets stuck..

My laptop recently shutdown due to no power, when I restarted i was able to get to the main screen, but then i couldn't go any further...kept getting the infinite twirling circle. Am able to start in safe mode, where i ran superanyispyware, trend micro and malwarebytes full scan for each and all came back clean. my daughter uses this sometimes and downloads some things so am hoping it hasn't screwed anything up.
u have a problem with my built computer. My computer keep freezing up at random spot, most of the time at the startup. I can boot into safe mode and the recovery CD sometime if it doesn't freezes up half way. Sometime the computer would work fine for a day and next day it just go berserk.

My Windows 7 account has started freezing not long after startup. It works in safe mode. My virus checker has failed so I can not do a virus check. In safe mode I can not re-install a virus checker. I have run the Ashampoo register checker and corrected all the faults. bar reinstalling the operating system which was an upgrade from Vista I am not sure what to do.
A week ago I started my computer and instead of booting up normally, the Disk Read Error (Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart) screen came up and when I restarted, it would just repeat. I used the Win 7 on my SD card to do a repair and it fixed the problem, but the same thing happened again the next day and the fix didn't work. After that I just gave up and wiped my drive, did a fresh install of Win7. Today I turned on my computer and the same error came up. I restarted and it got to the Starting Windows screen, but it just freezes there. At first I thought the OS was corrupt, but this time the error came up within a week...I'm not sure what the problem is. :S My SSD could be the culprit, but I want to make sure that it's not something else causing this to happen before I go out and buy a new SSD. EDIT: The Windows Repair screen won't come up unless I turn off the computer and switch off the PSU, wait for the light on the motherboard to go off, and switch PSU back on. If I don't switch off the PSU, the Windows Repair screen will never appear and it will just continuously say, "Disk Read Error".
I have a new machine running Win 7 Home Premium 64, which came preinstalled with Office 2010 Starter. I'm trying to uninstall all Office software, but Office Click-to-Run 2010 won't uninstall. When I try to uninstall it from the Programs and Features screen, I get an error message that reads, "The action could not be completed. Try the action again. If the action continues, contact Microsoft Product Support."I have tried the Microsoft Fix it for Me wizard (How do I uninstall Office 2003, Office 2007 or Office 2010 suites if I cannot uninstall it from Control Panel?) to no avail, and I've tried Revo Uninstaller, which removes Office Click-to-Run from the Add or Remove Programs screen but does not uninstall it cleanly. There are two other Office 2010 entries in the Programs and Features list: Microsoft Office Starter 2010 - English and Microsoft Office 2010. These uninstall without any issue, but Office Click-to-Run 2010 won't budge.
When I first installed windows it started to work just fine but I soon noticed that it would randomly freeze every 15-30 minutes of use, but not on a particular program or anything. I assumed it was drivers so I installed the latest drivers for my GPU and MOBO and keyboard. It seemed fine again until it started crashing again. I ran a GPU burn test and a CPU burn test it passed both. (I tried runing memtest86+ but it froze at like 12%) Then I tried fixing the registry so I downloaded ccleaner and fixed the registry problems. Freezes continued. I finally decided to re install windows so I did and the problems still continued. I am at a loss of what to do and can't think of anything else.
Computer is currently suffering from persistent freezing and bluescreens. It seems to happen almost randomly, and usually very soon after startup and loading of Windows. System restore has not helped.'fraid that's all the info I can give right now. Any recommendations? If anyone wants me to run hijackthis or dxdiag and post results I'd be more than happy to (assuming I can get that far before it freezes!). Safe mode does work, and the problem does not occur while in safe mode.
I am using kis 2009 on Windows 7 but I have one message and I am not sure what's the meaning....The message is on picture...so if someone have this problem please report it..
I launched a game today but when the menu appeared the mouse was blocked in the middle of the screen and i could not move it , so i thought its just a normal problem and it's gonna be fixed . Then i tried to delete a file with Shift + Delete and it didn't worked , so some of the action keys are not working.
I have a Windows 7 laptop (Thinkpad T420s), Many times I have tried setting the "Power buttons and lid -> Lid close action" to Hibernate on "On Battery" and "Plugged in" but when I click ok and immediately open the same settings via "Change advanced power settings" I see that my changes are not saved and the settings shows default value "Do nothing".I even tried changing the "Power plan" to Balanced, "Maximum battery life" etc but nowhere I could get this option work.I tried "powercfg /hibernate on" and then doing the above things but that too did not I tried other option also ("Sleep") , but they too did not work and the settings revert to default "Do nothing" everytime.Modifying "Change what closing the lid does" also does not work.Could somebody give me some clue about how do I set it up to Hibernate on "lid close". Right now I have created a shortcut for hibernate and double click on it before closing the lid.
every SINGLE TIME i try to move a folder around, i get "this action can not be done because the file is open in another program".i've shut down EVERY PROGRAM AND SERVICE except explorer and STILL get the same thing!this is my biggest beef with Win7 and would do anything to get around it.
I have a Toshiba laptop. Windows 7 operating system. It has a windows "Action Center". I do use the Defender and McAfee.
I was infected a couple of days ago by the Win 7 Security virus. I installed (from a clean computer) and ran the Malwarebytes and Superantispyware over and over again until it was clean.
I noticed my "action Center" seems to not be working. Can't even run the Defender, I get an error message of 0x80070424. I used to get the Windows updates automatically, and that appears to have stopped (although I can manually click "windows update" and get them that way. Oh, and the little white flag that would be in the lower right hand corner is missing (telling me of any problems or messages).
I checked my bitlocker in the services.msc and found it is checked to manual. Is that correct? What can I do to get this back working? Or am I still infected?
I use an Acer netbook win 7,with an external mouse. It's a small screen - 10.1 in.- and I have found recently (but not initially) that small windows opened for dialog or a new window selected from the task bar close again before I can even get the mouse pointer inside it to work. is there a way of making the window selection "stick" until a new selection is made ?
