I have VBscript to copy folders or files to other location. But this doesn't seem to run on windows 7 machine. Any help in why this might be.Reason for this is we want take backup of just one particular folder every month on C drive to network drive. Now can set backup to do this but way it does it you have drill down to find the folder.
I'm having a bit of a strange issue with a script placed in the startup folder on a windows 7 machine. When windows loads, it runs 2 copies of the script at the same time. Both scrips error out because as they try to access certain files they find they're "in use." By the other script I'm assuming. I'm wondering why the script is getting double executed, and how I can stop it.
Right after the scripts error out, if you manually click the script in the startup folder it runs with no issues. Only on startup does it run twice and not work.
In one particular network drive I cannot open any PDFs.
* PPT - opens fine * JPG/TIFF/etc - opens fine * DOC - opens fine * XLS - opens fine * ACCDB - opens fine * PDF - Acrobat Reader opens and then I get a pop-up "Error: Access denied."
To open any PDF I have to drag it from the network folder onto my desktop and open it from there. I can open PDFs from any OTHER network folder; it's just one specific path and subdirectories thereof where they won't open. Doesn't matter which office computer I use, I get the same error anywhere. I have R/RX/W/M (everything but full control) on the network folder. Same permissions as everyone else in my office.
I have: * Reinstalled Acrobat reader (no luck). * Disabled offline files (no luck because I didn't even know what that feature was for and never used it.) * Double-checked permissions on the directory.
I'm not sure which section of the forum to post this. For some reason in Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100) I don't have the option to create a new folder in the root of one mapped domain network drive. What's weird is that with all of my other network drives I can, and I can make new folders in subfolders of the drive I'm having problems with. I just can't in the root of that one drive. The account I'm logged in with does have full control of the folder the drive maps to. I've checked with another member on our domain that is running the same RC1 and he doesn't have this problem.
I have a External PVR unit that is connected to our home Theatre system and we watch downloaded movies that are stored on it's hard-drive.. This box is also connected via UPNP and I can see ALL Drives attached to my laptop which is located upstairs in the study...I was able to, from the computer, map this drive (N Drive) and was able to copy the movies files directly to the hard-drive of the PVR.Until recently, I was able to create new folders on the PVR hard-drive and then copy the files, but am no longer able to do so as I keep getting an error msg stating:"Could not create new file N:Moviesxxxxxx. The system cannot find the file specified"I can however copy the movie files or any other files directly to the hard-drive (ANY FOLDER).. Just cannot create any new folders!!!! Which I was able to do previously.?
P.S. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x32 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro P300
I brought windows 7 pc before 6 months. I did not know even abcd of computer at that time. I installed lots of software and games without having proper knowledge. Even i delete registry files thinking that, they are not useful to me. so i got serious problems on my pc. I finally format my pc a month before. As i describe earlier without having proper knowledge, just reading few post on internet i just insert my windows 7 cd, and install it like normal software without booting cd. It install smoothly without having any problems. The only thing was that, it doesn't format c drive instead it create windows.old folder. I delete it safely reading post from internet. Now the problem is for speed up my pc i decide to try xp on it. so i brought xp cd. I understand that without booting it is not installing xp on my pc. So i follow normal procedure of booting cd(Restarting pc and pressing f12). There was options like boot from hard drive, LS120, CDROM . I select cdrom. After that there was message "Verifying operating system Boot from cd/dvd. " for 2 second. After that it take me to the normal windows start up. I try these lots of time but i am unable to boot cd.I even try it with windows 7 cd but i am steel getting same message.Does this is because my first wrong formatting of pc.
I've read that with the mklink command one can create symlinks in windows to mapped network drives. still, whenever I add such a drive as a parameter to the command, I get the error "the file or directory is not a reparse point".What could be the problem? Is there another way to create a symlink on a network destination?
I am using this command: Code: mount -u:root -p:[password] \216.17.1.125srvwwwhtdocs g: at the command line to mount an NFS-enabled network drive from my Windows 7 machine.
I need to know what I need to put in a batch file (which will be put in my Startup folder), so the drive is automatically mounted at login/startup.
I tried just putting the line above in a batch file, but that didn't work.
During multiple file coping(file transferring) from one folders to other folders while minimizing all the folder at the time, check the status in taskbar, it showing all folder as file coping folder. is it expected in aero themas or its issue.
I am working with a Dropbox account on my Domain, and ideally I would like to make my "local Dropbox folder" on a mapped network drive. When I attempt to do so I am met with the following error - [URL]
I can not copy a file to either the Program Files or Program Files(x36) folders. My account is suppose to be administrator. How do I set up sharing so I can use my computer and not be told I can not do certain things. I am on a home group what ever that is. When I try to share the folders I am told I do not have permission to share that folder. And I do not have permission to share or stop sharing the folder.
I was preparing to re-install my OS by copying all my important files, installers, etc. into one folder. When I copied a folder from My Documents to this new folder on my desktop, one of the subfolders disappeared. I've been unable to locate the missing folder or files through either windows search or Pandora Recovery. locating it because it contains the source code for some tools I've written.
Im using Windows 7 64 ultimate . A program I use installed in tne (x86) folder runs OK and I can save and delete files from within the program but I cannot see these files from Windows Explorer to make a backup . Is it possible to create a new folder template? As a working musician, the standard music template is not functional for what I do. However, I don't want to change the standard music template as it IS functional for pre-recorded music, which I also have on this machine. The other standard templates (music, general items, documents, pictures, videos) are all in use with files and folders normally filled with such items. So I need a NEW folder template where I can keep my professional music files.
My issue is that I have a separate folder on my storage drive for tv shows, and I want to be able to watch them in another room via my Xbox 360. I've added the folder to the library list for both recorded tv and videos but none of the shows appear. I don't really want to add them to the movies area (where my movies do show up) since I prefer keeping them separate. Can I create another folder for these tv shows or is there a way to make them appear in the recorded tv folder?

I need to 'extract' .wma files from within many different folders to a single, main folder. It looks like this: Main Folder>Artist>Album>Track (.wma) but there are many artists. I want to get all the tracks from within the two subfolders into a single folder.
I would like to be able to create folders in "All Programs" section of "Start" so I can group similar programs together. An example would be to group all game programs into one folder instead of having them interspersed through the list alphabeticallly. Is it possible to create new empty folders?
I wanted to create a TXT file under the WINDOWS folder and the only thing on the context menu was FOLDER.I get the same context menu for any folder under the windows folder.
If I have a folder that usually takes a bit of navigation to get to (don't want any shortcuts on my desktop either as I don't have any shortcuts or icons on my desktop) is it possible to assign some sort of key to instantly open it? Such as holding down CTRL+ALT+184 on the num pad and it will open up that folder. Can it be done?
I want to create my own folder that is unsearchable, just like how the contents of c:windows do not show up when you do a root search. I have the 'dont search system folders' option set, and sure enough I have tested it works with c:windows, however my new folder is still showing up. I created a folder c: est, and did a 'attrib +s +h +r test' from a cmd prompt. The command took (the folder is now hidden), but windows does NOT seem to consider it a true 'system' folder (the contents STILL show up in a search). What am I missing here? How do I flag this folder as a true 'system' folder so the contents wont show up in a search.
