Feb 24, 2012I wanted to create a TXT file under the WINDOWS folder and the only thing on the context menu was FOLDER.I get the same context menu for any folder under the windows folder.

Sep 21, 2011I have written a batch file (e.g.aaa.bat) which can take several paramters and runs fine as long as I enter the start command at the command prompt e.gaaaa.bat -start -logIn order to avoid always having to enter manually this command I created a shortcut to this batch file and placed it in the SAME directory and added once the desired parameters. The shortcut properties look like now:Target: D:proj2 est2011aaaa.bat -start -logStart in: D:proj2est2011This works fine as well. Now the problem comes: I want to make these batch file and its shortcut portable.That means users should be abel to copy both files (batch + shortcut) on their computer in an indiviual different directory and be able to start the shortcutted batch file WITHOUT adjustments as well.
BUT this does not work because "Target" and "STarted in" most problably have a different path (e.g. C:evalproj ask23).My first approaches to solve this problems were to omit the path like in:Target: aaaa.bat -start -logStart in: .But this does not help. If I try to apply the settings above for the shortcut I got an error popup:"The name aaa.bat' specified in the target box is not valid"Hmm, how do I specify in the shortcut=SAME DIRECTORY AS CURRENT SHORTCUT FILE otherwise?

Nov 13, 2011I brought windows 7 pc before 6 months. I did not know even abcd of computer at that time. I installed lots of software and games without having proper knowledge. Even i delete registry files thinking that, they are not useful to me. so i got serious problems on my pc. I finally format my pc a month before. As i describe earlier without having proper knowledge, just reading few post on internet i just insert my windows 7 cd, and install it like normal software without booting cd. It install smoothly without having any problems. The only thing was that, it doesn't format c drive instead it create windows.old folder. I delete it safely reading post from internet.Now the problem is for speed up my pc i decide to try xp on it. so i brought xp cd. I understand that without booting it is not installing xp on my pc. So i follow normal procedure of booting cd(Restarting pc and pressing f12). There was options like boot from hard drive, LS120, CDROM . I select cdrom. After that there was message "Verifying operating system Boot from cd/dvd. " for 2 second. After that it take me to the normal windows start up. I try these lots of time but i am unable to boot cd.I even try it with windows 7 cd but i am steel getting same message.Does this is because my first wrong formatting of pc.

May 30, 2012I'm trying to create a virtual "Windows 7 ENT SP1 x64" in a vhd file. I need it to be bootable. Also, I need to figure out how to implement it so that when a user reboot and/or logoff from this computer, that it restore the vhd OS to its original state (read-only). Is that even possible?
Note: I'm already able to create a normal vhd from scratch or from an existing Windows 7 system. What I can't figure out is how to make it a read-only vhd file.

Oct 30, 2012I bought a laptop with an OEM serial key and I got windows home basic with it. My internet has limitations and I cannot afford to download a 3 GB .iso or image file of windows 7 home basic. Incase my system gets corrupt or anything happens I would like to have a backup of my whole OS, so is their any way to extract the whole OS from my computer to just one ".iso" file? which later I can convert into a bootable USB flash drive of disc. Plus if possible can I make the iso file which contains my OS and also all the drivers pre installed?

For some reason in Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100) I don't have the option to create a new folder in the root of one mapped domain network drive. What's weird is that with all of my other network drives I can, and I can make new folders in subfolders of the drive I'm having problems with. I just can't in the root of that one drive. The account I'm logged in with does have full control of the folder the drive maps to. I've checked with another member on our domain that is running the same RC1 and he doesn't have this problem.

I have the 'dont search system folders' option set, and sure enough I have tested it works with c:windows, however my new folder is still showing up. The command took (the folder is now hidden), but windows does NOT seem to consider it a true 'system' folder (the contents STILL show up in a search). What am I missing here?
