I have a group of MP3 files in a folder (MyBestMusic) and want to create a playlist (same name) to play them as a named group (playlist). I am totally new to Windows, my daughter in law gave me this computer, I'm 63.

To do this, I thought I would create a Windows Explorer shortcut in Windows 7 that pointed to the XP mode environment. The shortcut creation method doesn't seem to work for non-application shortcuts. How can I access (in Windows 7) or move files (to Windows 7) that are created in XP mode? I have a Canon camera that uses an XP only utility to communicate with the camera. The files are moved from camera to XPM environment. I need to work with the files in Windows 7.

I share my apartment with 5 people and one of them has created a homegroup on the wifi network that we use. And now does not remember the password. i want to be able to create a homegroup and share it with my roommate but unfortunately i cannot create a second homegroup. is there any way i can reset the home group on this network and create one for myself?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two computers connected to the same HomeGroup on the same network. Both are sharing their documents (Control Panel/HomeGroup). On both computers, Windows Explorer shows the user on the other computer under HomeGroup, and under each user is Documents. But when I click on Documents, nothing changes. It seems that it isn't reading the contents of the documents folder on the other computer.

But I feel that there must be a better way to do it, without syncing through the internet.Basically what I want is to have the music files saved locally on both computers, but any change in one folder will be synced to the other, is it possible to do this in Windows 7 without any 3rd party apps? I did try setting up a Homegroup, but I'm not sure that my computers are connected. My stationary computer doesn't read wi-fi, but is connected to a router which is connected to a wi-fi-router which my laptop is connected to, so technically they should be connected?

For example, I'm trying to transfer some music album folders to a USB or another folder. I drag and drop the first album in there, but I have to wait to the progress box to finish before I can drag the next one/group in there.
I KNOW this was never a problem with XP, where every group of files/folders your moved/copied would open a new progress box, each doing their own thing. Why would such a basic function have changed?
have win 7 ultimate 64, home network over wifi to my wife laptop, router sisco e3000. CPU : qx9850 (@3800 MHz), VGA Ati 5870, motherboard asus p5q deluxe ( or how this model) 8 gb gskill DDRII 1200 MHz . 3 sataII hdd, case xcilio 1000. All stable and not overheating. Games runs good. BUT! When I start to copy files ( like films, music and etc large one) my entire omg fast crazy pc slow down and become really slow!!! And speed over Ethernet is 2 mb/sec or 2,3. Ok, leve the speed it's Over wifi so w/e. I tried to set up netsh rss enable, autotuninglevel disable, chimney enabled . Did link Speed & duplex auto I can remove ipv6 but home network require it.

The desktop is direct wired via ethernet, and the laptop is wirelessly connected.I set up a homegroup and successfully connected both computers to the homegroup.If I share one of the "Libraries" folders on either computer, it instantly shows up in the Homegroup folder where shared items should appear. Any other documents or folders that I share from either computer do not appear, no matter what I try.I right click, choose "share with" and then "homegroup read/write". It doesn't appear accessible from the other computer. I choose "specific people" and then add "everyone," "guest" and "homegroup" all with read/write, and it doesn't appear on the other computer.

There is no problem seeing or accessing the files on these computers.I am trying to add a fifth computer to the workgroup. I have added the new computer and can see the other 4 computers. However, every time I try to access any of the other 4 computers on the workgroup, I am asked for my network username and password. It doesn't matter what I put for the username and password - nothing works. It continues to say "Logon failure: unknown username or bad password".

For some reason in Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100) I don't have the option to create a new folder in the root of one mapped domain network drive. What's weird is that with all of my other network drives I can, and I can make new folders in subfolders of the drive I'm having problems with. I just can't in the root of that one drive. The account I'm logged in with does have full control of the folder the drive maps to. I've checked with another member on our domain that is running the same RC1 and he doesn't have this problem.

I've added the folder to the library list for both recorded tv and videos but none of the shows appear. I don't really want to add them to the movies area (where my movies do show up) since I prefer keeping them separate. Can I create another folder for these tv shows or is there a way to make them appear in the recorded tv folder?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWMP 12 has automatically created a playlist for, it seems, every album in my library. It displays these in the central details pane when I highlight playlists in the navigation pane. This makes it difficult to find the playlists which I created myself (eg those containing a selection of tracks from different albums or a link to a radio station). The ones I really want to find get lost amongst all the albums. Is there a way to get rid of the 'album playlists' which WMP created, or to have them not show? The same issue occurs on both my main PC and my laptop. I don't see the point of these 'album playlists'. When I want to play an album I can look at the albums view of the library and play the album from there. I tried deleting them but they were created again the next time I restarted WMP.

I have the 'dont search system folders' option set, and sure enough I have tested it works with c:windows, however my new folder is still showing up. I created a folder c: est, and did a 'attrib +s +h +r test' from a cmd prompt. The command took (the folder is now hidden), but windows does NOT seem to consider it a true 'system' folder (the contents STILL show up in a search). What am I missing here? How do I flag this folder as a true 'system' folder so the contents wont show up in a search.
