I have a serious problem with a recovery which did not solve the problem. I now have no internet the screen is wrong the icons and programs have disappeared and I just cannot use the computer anymore. can someone let me know if I can recover the system by running the program in safe mode or how can I recover the system to to yesterday's setting.
I've only had my new computer with Windows 7 for just over a week and it won't work anymore. It goes into Startup Repair and says it can't repair this computer automatically. I press "Finish" and then it just restarts again showing the logo of the motherboard on screen and then goes back into Startup Repair again.
I called the shop where I bought it and they said it is possible I was loading too much software on too quickly. It is a computer I use for business so I wasn't loading any rubbish on and I didn't install that much - Office suite, antivirus, modem software, printer driver.
I've had problems with my wireless printer going "offline" a lot and its one of the most frustrating situations when you go to hit print and theres a 35% chance it will be offline.
Now I tried to "Add a new printer" and for some reason after trying time after time my computer is not discovering my wireless printer any more?
My printer sucessfully pairs up with my router every time I try to go through the wireless setup wizard. I've restarted/unplugged the printer time & time again & also restarted the computer.
how to get my computer to see this printer again & KEEP it online?
I recently bought a new power supply, along with more ram because I was already ordering the power supply. When the package came and I set everything up in the computer, the PC turned on and everything was fine. I started to play a game with my friend and the computer just turned off. No error message, nothing. I believe the computer overheated, but I could be completely wrong. Now, when I start my computer up, it gets to the Launch System Repair (Recommended) or Start Windows Normally. If I select one of them, it will get into the 'Starting Windows' screen with the orbs, and then the monitor will just go blank. The computer still runs in the background, but my monitor just is blank. It is not the RAM (I switched and went to my old RAM) And I also cannot boot into safe mode, or anything of the sort, as the same thing happens. And I cannot boot from a CD (Tried with a windows 7 repair disc and computer goes blank again)
Yesterday night I turned off my computer by pressing the power button and now my mouse and keyboard do not work anymore(in Windows). I wanted to see if it was just the mouse/keyboard itself, but I noticed nothing detects when I connect a USB device. I tried plugging it in every port and it's the same. I thought it was a hardware issue, but now I realize that it is not.
I restarted my computer and tried to get into safe mode; it worked(I was able to go up and down to select which mode I wanted to enter). Once inside safe mode and windows is loaded, the keyboard just freezes. It does not work at all. I then decided to go into bios to see what is up and everything seems right. I even screwed around and messed up my overclock settings.
So now I know my keyboard still works and it's probably a Windows issue. I wanted to see if my mouse would work. I went into Windows Repair(I might have gotten the name wrong) and voila, my mouse worked!
my media center remote will not change the volume of my computer anymore , also the volume buttons on my keyboard also do not work. i am fairly certain the a registry error or a service or policy error, but i am lost as how to re-enable them. the remote works fine otherwise and so does the keyboard.windows 7 x64 i5-2310 12 gig ram remote model number 1039 keyboard Microsoft wireless 6000 system is fully up to date.
I had a bit of bad luck today and my laptop fell on the ground and cracked the case. I checked to make sure everything was functioning and running alright and everything seemed fine, so i proceeded to run solidworks and work on a project and again everything was working fine for about 40 minutes than blue screen popped up and computer tried to restart. When it started backup a screen popped up saying to run startup repair. Ran the repair and when a command window popped up i get a white screen saying error in big red font. So i restarted again and tried to start windows normally it began starting up but switched to start up repair automatically and same thing while start up repair was beggining.to stop happening preferably without re formatting and losing files as i have some really large solidworks files that i need for a project and dont have time to re draw
I can't get use of my OS anymore, it boots up in repair mode then says it cant automaticly fix these errors. So I can't get into the system to get my files, and when I attach the Hard drive as a Slave, it looks as if all my files have dissappeared! This is the error details, there was (2) errors: [code]
i can't seem to run any of my browsers anymore, i do care about chrome the most and this is what it says when i try running it:"Google Chrome has stopped working". [code]
Seems my windows will not backup anymore, it did not finish last backup. I tried to start a new one and just keeps giving the same error, last backup did not finish. I am backing up on a spare external usb drive.find the drive no problem. Give me something called error on the windows bit logger??
I have an ASUS N61Jv, running Windows 7 Professional 64bit (legal, pre-installed). The built in webcam is suddenly not functioning anymore. I can't recall changing anything, so I'm not sure why this is happening. When opening the cam in skype, windows live messenger, or lifeframe3, it keeps saying that the cam is in use by another application. I've reinstalled the driver, but to no avail. I have also reinstalled the software programs.

Some minutes ago I was moving an image file into a folder on my desktop using my mouse but after that I suddenly haven't been able to open none of my folders anymore! When I click twice on a folder it goes in "Windows Explorer Taskbar". I can see it there but if I try to open it , it "flies away" towards rightside on my desktop and disappear ( I guess that's the same movement I did moving the image into the folder ).
The other day i had a friend delete some programs from my Asus laptop on startup and running processes to make my computer boot up faster. I think we did something that makes the fn key not work anymore. how to restore this functionality?
I cannot make a back-up anymore. The only way to sent my files to an external hard drive is via Windows Easy Transfer. It says that it is missing important parts on the system. All browers will stop working after about 10 seconds. I can kill the process whenever I want and restart the brower, but the issue persists. Counts for all browers. If I startp my computer it will load the BIOS as it should be. Then it goes to load Windows. Also no problems, but right after loading Windows, it is going somethimes in Startup Repair. So I go to Safety Modus with network capabilities and I re-install the drivers for NVIDIA (GTX650). After restarting the system, it will load without any problems for a several of days. When I am on my Desktop, the antivirus will be disabled automatically. I did not touch anything(Norton 360, 2013 By Symantec).I had plans to do a re-install of Windows, but is someone else has a better idea, I would be glad to hear that.
For some reason, Windows 7 will not let me install ANY drivers anymore. The problem gets even stranger... Lets say I have a USB device that already has the drivers installed on one of the USB ports. If I move the device to a new port, Windows will not install the driver on the new USB port even though Windows already has this driver installed on another port. This problem is not limited to any specific device either, it applies to new HD'S, pci devices, and pcie devices. I have even gone so far as to disable all running application, unnecessary services, etc. I am thinking that there is some setting somewhere or maybe a inadvertent registry change...
I have an eMachines eM350 netbook that used to be able to boot from a flash drive, until now. I have a flash drive that is dedicated to installing an OS via USB, and recently I've been looking to reinstall Xubuntu as a dual boot, but for whatever reason, my BIOS won't even recognize the drive anymore as USBHDD, and any other drive I use is categorized as USBFDD, even using the same model (Lexar 16GB S70)Windows is still capable of recognizing the flash drive (Lexar 8GB S70), but not the BIOS.
Okay so I installed Windows 7 after taking a break from the Beta. Unfortunately it didn't do what it usually does and let me boot "an older version" or anything like that. It just booted Windows 7. I read some stuff on this forum and ended up using bcdedit to try and fix it. These are the exact commands I entered:
bcdedit /create {ntldr} /d "Windows XP"
bcdedit /set {ntldr} device partition=C:
bcdedit /set {ntldr} path tldr
bcdedit /displayorder {ntldr} /addlast
Note: C: Is where XP is. O: is where Windows 7 is.
After doing that I got a dual boot screen at start-up. When I select Windows 7 I start windows 7. When I select Windows XP it just restarts the computer and shows me the screen again.
Any suggestions? I don't know how to get back into XP now. I guess I could disable the SATA than Windows 7 is on and it would be forced to start up XP (which is on an IDE) but I really want to get this dual boot business fixed.
I would just say screw it and abandon XP for now except I password protected my files and now I can't get to them unless I transfer ownership one by one. :S
EDIT: I fixed my problem, and in an unexpected way. After I posted I was frantically trying to decide what was different this time (as I had gotten this setup to work before). I then remembered that I had set my SATA drive as the primary boot drive in the bios in my effort to get Windows 7 to work when the boot sector was corrupt. I changed it back to my IDE drive (the way it originally was) and the dual booting worked again.
I never would have thought that would be the problem. It doesn't explain other users who had the exact same problem though. I doubt very many people decided to play with the controllers in the bios.
Suddenly I've noticed that certain .ogg files aren't able to be played in Windows Media Player. It only occurs with some files; others play perfectly fine. For the files that do not work, they open fine but there is no audio or visualisation at all; however, the time bar (or whatever it's called) still shows properly. The files play properly in other media players but I prefer to use WMP. (I use the codec available here: Directshow Filters for Ogg Vorbis, Speex, Theora and FLAC: Home but although I tried reinstalling it, I still have problems)
I'm having problems getting my Usb MIDI to work in my music software. It used to work, but one day it just magically stopped working. I was about to make a dumb mistake and buy a new $60 Usb MIDI cable, but then I checked in device manager and I noticed that Windows WAS recognizing the Usb MIDI cable. It even said "This device is working properly." The MIDI Input light on the cable blinks when I press the keyboard's(piano) keys when I first plug it in, then stops after a while. It's supposed to be plug-n-play. When I first got it, no driver download was needed. I plugged it in, and it worked. I was thinking it may need a driver update? Or maybe a new driver? [code]
I am having some problems with my ctrl key. I cant ctrl copy or paste, whenever I try to ctrl copy a c appears and when I try ctrl+v a v just appears, as if I was just pressing the letter, it seems its stuck by hardware or something coz in the keyboard its fine.
So I had some problems with AVG antivirus, when booting my pc got stuck on booting the avg processes, so I removed them, then it got stuck on some other processes (like fvevol.sys or so) so I removed them too. After removing all processes that got stuck when booting, I couldn't boot at all! Every time I booted it automatically came in the boot manager, saying it could't restore my pc.
I upgraded from XP to 7 about a year or so ago, and just noticed that the few home DV videos I captured since then were in AVI format, and about 12 GB each, compared to the former ones on XP which were WMV and not quite 1GB each. I have tried in vain to set the automatic capture on Windows Movie Maker to WMV as default, but it doesn't seem to allow it. These AVI files are just too big for my storage space over time.

It worked perfectly yesterday, but when I tried to author a blank DVD with DVDFlick today, it just stopped working. I have authored many, many DVDs with DVDFlick before, so I doubt that caused the problem.
I have tried to get it to read DVDs, CDs and miniCDs, but it refuses to recognize any of them. It won't even recognize the disc at boot-time. I've gone through every support website I could find. I've downloaded several Microsoft troubleshooting utilities, and they all say something to the effect of "The disc in drive D: is not detected, or is not supported".
My computer is almost new; only about six months old, so I sure hope the drive hasn't failed on me already.

Im tryin to get my 64GB Mtron SSD runnin with Windows 7 but I can't get it to show up in the installation process. It shows just fine in the BIOS, in device manager, in My Computer and in Windows Disk Management, in fact I can even use it as storage but for some reason It will not show up as a disk to install Windows. I have tried as IDE in BIOS and AHCI and in AHCI mode it will not show up in the BIOS at all or anywhere, I can only get it to show in IDE mode. It has been fully formatted and has had Windows 7 on it here recently (had to reformat due to some speed issues). Does anyone know a way I can get Windows put back on, preferably in AHCI mode cause Im stuck with a Thousand dollar drive thats good for storage only
My board is the Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3L with BIOS F8 which according to their site is the latest one. Processor Q8600 and 4GB of OCZ Flex RAM...
I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit computer which I will call the main PC. An HP LaserJer is directly connected to it, and shows up as the default printer. About a month ago, it stopped responding to print jobs. They show up in the "jobs pending" list, but do not print. If I try to print to that printer from another PC on the network, the document shows up in the pending list, but then says "Error" and will not print either. If I connect the printer to a different PC, it will print. If I try to print to the printer connected to another PC from the main PC, it will not print. The print spooler is running. There are only restore points from the past week or so, and this started happening over a month ago
I have an habit of downloading Podcasts to listen to, and these podcasts are usually available to download via direct .mp3 file links. However, for some reason, lately I can't do it anymore, be it with Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer, I can't download my .mp3 Podcast files anymore.
Have a windows 7 desktop pc and all of a sudden my pc wont read sdhc cards. I have read to disable the sdhc host but when my card readers are plugged in i cant see anything that says "sdhc host" but did disable and then reenable the card reader itself. I also read about uninstall of generic sd/mmc usb device but that did not fix the problem also. I have been having an issue where when i reset my pc it sits at "Marvel adaptor init 88se61xx" for a few minutes then loads so not sure if that is effecting the sdhc cards.
