View 4 Repliesmy friends use Windows 7 and IE 9, but it only works right for them from the administrator's account. From a normal user's account clicking the link in IE 9 would open up the link in a new tab (as normal) and launch the Sopcast software, but would not tune it to the right channel.Under the administrator's account it did initially require 2 or 3 permissions, but as the regular user it doesn't even ask.I tried changing the regular user account to an administrator and reinstalling the software by the new admin, but it still did not work and did not even pop the permissions.Only lowering the UAC all the way to 0 made it work, but upping it again even one notch disabled things again. It never asked for any permissions, like it did under the other account.I searched and found others with somewhat similar issues, but no direct solution.I guess Windows 7 blocks it for the regular user, but how can I authorize it? Make it ask me?Should it have been working or is it something generally blocked, on purpose?

View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen I update an application which I have in my Quick Launch toolbar, its icon move to the end of the list of icons (as if it were a newly installed program and not one that had simply been updated). This means every time I update, say, Firefox, or Thunderbird, or Seamonkey, etc., I have to go into the Quick Launch toolbar and drag it back to its proper place. Is there any way to address this or is it something that's changed in how Mozilla updates its programs? Ideally (and what used to happen) is that most program icons stayed put after the programs they pointed to were updated.

I was playing through the walking dead game fine no problems then I had to go eat dinner so I paused the game (hit the esc key) and my monitor shut off and said no signal whenever I turned it back on. My mouse and keyboard also started shutting off and on and nothing I pressed (alt+F4, ctrl+alt+delete, etc) nothing got any response. So I shut off my computer booted it back up tried to play the same game again got the same issue. Then I tried to play something else and I got the same problem so whenever I launch any game my screen shuts off and computer essentially crashes. When Windows boots back up it says that it has recovered from a serious error similar to when you encounter a BSOD but doesn't ask you to send a report to MS. Also whenever I come back from the error windows for some reason attempts and fails to re-install the wireless receiver for my 360 controller. However it works fine again once I unplug and plug it back in again.
1. Uninstalling the game that started this.
2. Re-installing my video drivers.
3. Wiping my video drivers with driver cleaner in safe mode then re-installing my drivers.
4. Re-installing direct x using a setup file from a random steam game.
5. Doing a system restore from as far back as I had (April 25th)
The usual utilities associated with ATI catalyst software, my Kaspersky security software, the weather channel app. But then this one started, and the only thing I could see on the taskbar looked like an open application such as Word - and a title of MyOleComputerWi..., and a small black square maybe two inches square on the screen. This ran for approximately 3-5 seconds.

View 10 Replies View RelatedOur office has an old program that we still need to use when upgrading our PC's to Windows 7. The program will run fine if you start a windows virtual PC and install and run it. However, based on the needs of our office, I need to be able to run Windows XP mode and simply have an icon for our users to click to take them to the application. If I install the program in windows XP mode, and then add a shortcut to the file under all users/start menu, a shortcut is placed in the appropriate place on the windows 7 machine and I can copy that shortcut ot the desktop. The program runs fine until you restart the computer. Once you restart the computer and double click the link on the windows 7 desktop to the program running in windows XP mode, it says:
Cannot start virtual application. The application is blocked from running as a virtual application.
I read some other posts saying to put a new shortcut in the all users/start menu folder. This works, but only until our users restart their computer. The next time the computer is up, the problem happens again. This is not an acceptable solution to have to create a new shortcut for each workstation each time the computer is restarted.
I have recently built a new computer and installed Windows 7 on it. At first the operating system could only see 1 of my 1TB hard drives. So I formatted the second to NTFS by using ubuntu live cd. Now my windows system can see the hard drive and I can open it with right mouse click--->open, and can write to it. When I try and double click the drive in My Computer it comes up with a pop up saying E: Application not found. Where I can set the double mouse click to open it?

I came across a problem today with the computer taking 2-3 minutes on the "Starting Windows" boot screen alone, but since it has finally gotten past that process applications are taking absolutely ages to load up, and stop responding when they finally do load up.
I attempted a Startup Repair and Memory Diagnostic - the Memory Diagnostic came out fine, but the Startup Repair explained that this could be a problem with a recently installed driver.
I recently uninstalled some MSXML and SQL Server bits and bobs which I thought were unnecessary
The error states:explorer.exe - application error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application. When I click OK, i just have a black screen. I get this error whenever I launch anything. I can't even open up the task manager. I really need help. I don't currently have a way to back up my stuff either but I am working on it. By the way, I don't know that my brother was having the same error message as i was or if he was having any error messages. View 2 Replies View RelatedAny time I start an application that requires a moderate amount of processing, the whole computer skips. By skips, I mean the audio glitches and makes an annoying sound, the video freezes for a fraction of a second before catching up, etc. I was working on a video editing project last night, for instance, and this problem got really bad then. Now it happens whenever I try to play music through iTunes, or even a video online. So far, I have tried updating video card drivers, checking for updated chipset drivers, checking for possible overheating - nothing has helped. The Computer: I just bought the base components for this computer and received them in the mail less than a week ago. I put it together one night last week, and I noticed this issue as soon as I imported my music and got some working speakers attached. (It's much more noticeable with audio) [code]
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if it is possible to reverse engineer a 32-bit application and recompile it as a 64-bit application. If so, would it still function?I don't know if talking about reverse engineering is acceptable in this forum or not. If not, my apologies. Also, I don't exactly know how "legal" it is or if it's against any EULAs.I'm a heavy browser user. I use Firefox Nightly and constantly have several tabs open. I also run several different applications at once and occasionally Skype. I'm CONSTANTLY hitting the 32-bit barrier for RAM (can't remember if it's 3.1, 3.2 or 3.3 GB) and I still have more RAM on my system. I'm thinking the video quality on Skype starts going south when I run low/out on addressable memory since it's a 32-bit application

View 3 Replies View RelatedI stayed at a hotel this weekend in Nashville and used the hotel's internet connection. While at the hotel, they had a welcome page that said, "Welcome to Nashville" where you would agree to the terms and conditions before browsing the Internet. Now that I am back home, whenever I initially launch IE9, the first tab that comes up has a title of "Welcome to Nashville"It sits there for 20-30 seconds, presumably searching for the hotel proxy. Then, it gives up and Google--which is my normal home page--launches normally. From that point forward, everything works fine until the next time I open my browser.I've already checked my proxy settings, and there was nothing added there. No errors appear whatsoever, just that initial tab name.

After my computer has fully loaded up, I cannot launch anything or use the internet. This includes when trying to launch MS office, chrome, internet explorer, games, adobe and so on. The only way I can launch anything is either in safe mode, or if I quickly open the program as soon as my computer opens to desktop. I can then run the program for approximately 2 mins before it freezes, shuts me out and then doesn't let me reopen.I have tried to do a Norton virus scan, although it seems to be getting stuck on detecting tracking cookies.(Not sure if this is a result of any virus I have or something else).

I won't go into details for my asinine behavior in running a cleanup that deleted many important files. I can't even recall the program I used because it was a while later that I realized the mess I'd created...Anyway I have been reinstalling/updating programs for several days and am left with two big glitches.First, I no longer can launch IE. I actually use Firefox but need IE for my work site. I have uninstalled it from Windows update several times and reinstalled without success. I then had the idea to download and install Explorer 8. I figured I could then upgrade. Unable to install that as it was apparently "unsupported"by Windows 7 (32 bit).
