View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been taking apart computers for parts and am learning some things about computers.I understand a fair bit about computers.I was just wondering how I can identify my graphics card as in Device Manager, it displays "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter".I am sure it displayed something different before I upgraded to Windows 7. I think I may be missing a driver.
Either way, I used to have Windows XP and the game I wish to play worked then, now I have upgraded, it no longer works. This could be because the driver for the graphics card was erased. I am using whatever card comes with this computer, as I have left it unaffected since the purchase of the computer, and all I have altered is the disc drive and hard drive.Ever since I upgraded to Windows 7, the game won't start and it gives me a graphics error "We are sorry, but the operating system failed to provide the window to render the game graphics in. Please consult the game manual for known workarounds that might improve the game's compatibility with your hardware.". This is for the game "18 Wheels of Steel: American Long Haul". I have checked and this game is compatible with Windows 7.
My laptop config: Sony vaio (E- series) VPCEB24EN with intel i3 M350 @2.26 GHz processor, 512 MB ATI graphic card, 3Gb RAM. PROBLEM:Recently my laptop harddisk got repaired, i had thosiba MK3265GSX HDD with (320GB storage area, 8 MB buffer size & 5400 rpm). I replaced it with seagate ST9750420AS(750 GB, 16MB buffer size & 7200 rpm). Also previously i had only windows 7 Home basic 64-bit so, i purchased home professional with 64-bitfter installing my new OS i downloaded my drivers s/w, everything got installed except my intel HD graphic driver & it showed the message "minimum system requirement is not met" Also, in my device manager intel graphic not appeared in 'display device'. But, my ATI graphic driver is working properlyAlso, i tried with my older recovery CD which had home basic but when windows tried to install setup my harddisk is not detected since i changed it recently.i tried every possible solution but couldn't able to find exact reason.

I've been using this laptop for about 3 months now and everything has been running fine. Yesterday, I was playing Skyrim testing out a new mod from nexusmods. I've read on the description and comments and there were no problems associated with the mod. While I was using it a received a BSOD. When I restarted the computer my resolution was reset. I right clicked on the desktop and the options for my Nvidia control panel were gone along with the other options for the Intel Graphics control panel.
After a while my first display adapter came back which was the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000. I looked up as much as I could about the problem and it was usually associated with the display adapters being reverted to something like Standard VGA Adapter. This applied to the Intel graphics, but that was all. It was as if my graphics card vanished and I can't find it under device manager. When I try installing/reinstalling the Nvidia drivers it says that there is no Nvidia hardware. I've tried waiting a couple of hours with the laptop shut down, finding it in safemode, and searched for even more solutions. I can't seemed to find any. The last thing I did was check the BIOS and it said that the Discrete Graphics Card was not detected.
i upgraded to windowa 7 now my wireless card is not showing up in the device manager

View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that I don't have any Internet connection (red x) but my laptop seems to have Internet connection. I checked my Device Manager and it seems that Network Adapter is missing instead there is 'Other Device' and below it was a 'Unknown Device' (with a yellow exclamation mark). I tried to install the driver but no luck via USB. I also did a system restore point but still no luck. I also tried to 'Scan for hardware changes' and still again, no luck... It's still unknown device.
I searched the Internet and they said the resetting the CMOS will solve this problem, is this true?

HeI am at wits end here trying to figure out how to fix this pc. A friend came to me with the Acer Aspire One D255E with a wireless internet issue. The PC is Running Windows 7 Starter 32-bit. I immediately thought "well there must be a switch that she turned off" There is no switch on the computer for the wireless card. I thought "well there must be a driver issue, Ill go to the device manager and update the driver for it". Then when I got to the device manager... Nothing shows up for a wireless lan card even existing in the laptop, but I know it does, because A) It's a "net Book" B) she was using the internet last week. So, I thought maybe it's not showing up because thee computer needs the drivers for it first, which is unusual, but since its windows 7 starter I thought it needed a kick in the rear to get it goin. So i downloaded all the drivers for the PC using a different computer, and installed the different drivers to see which one would work. Well none of them worked, and now im sitting here scratching my head on what to do next. I have scoured the web and seen a few other people with issues like this.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 on an Acer Aspire 7551. The internal wireless network adapter does not appear in the device manager. So I am using an external USB wireless adapter until I get the internal one to work. I tried to contact Acer but if the system is out of warranty, you can drop dead for all they care. I went to their support website and downloaded a driver for 'Wireless LAN Driver'. They have two different vendors. I chose Broadcom. It downloaded a zip file and I don't know how to install it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt was working fine, I didn't install or change nothing (mostly is used as MediaCenter). It was working perfectly without any change for months. Then I shutdown one day as always, and when I reboot the next day no network is present. The PC is an Acer Aspire X3900 desktop with an integrated intel NIC. This is what I have seen: In the Windows 7 network configuration panel there isn't any NIC present. IPCONFIG shows nothing, no adapter is listed (is not like when you unplug the network cable and the adapter is listed buy without the IPs; now the command shows nothing at all). But, and that is the weird thing, in device manager all seems fine. The Intel NIC is listed without any warning mark. Looking the properties, all looks ok. This is what I had already try: I reinstalled the NIC drivers. No changes. Reinstalled the chipset drivers. No changes. Uninstalled NIC drivers with an Intel utility. Then I rebooted and reinstalled the drivers when windows detected the new hw. No changes. Disabled the NIC adapter in device manager, reboot and re-enable. No changes. Uninstalled the NIC adapter in device manager. Reboot and re-install the drivers when windows detect the new hw.No changes. Disabled the NIC adapter in BIOS. Boot windows, shutdown, re-enable the adapter in BIOS, and reboot. einstall the drivers. No change. Recover the system from an old recover point, but no change.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have an emachines em350, I installed Windows 7 as a clean install onto a new hard drive.
It's al sweet except the sound and network adapters have not installed. In fact it seems that Windows 7 is declaring they never existed in the first place.
I have retrieved the latest drivers, Windows 7 spits them out stating that the devices are not present. I have tried the older versions using compatibility mode. I have tried install legacy hardware. I have tried to flush them out through command prompt. Nothing.
The sound 'card' (which I believe to be onboard) is seen by device manager, but refuses to have anything*to do with drivers.
The LAN I also believe is part of the motherboard, but it just won't show at all.
I cannot for the life of me get my internet to work.. more specifically it keeps telling me I need to install network drivers.I checked BIOS and LAN settings are all good.I've tried installing a realtek driver update. On my device manager not the network adapter tree does not even show up. I've done 2 full re-installs of windows 7 and no luck.I'm using an ASUS M4A89GTD PRO mobo, running windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I update the BIOS on my Intel motherboard to any one of the three most recent BIOS's, my add-in Intel network card (located in one of the pci slots) shows up as a removable device in the taskbar (Much like a USB device; for example a passport removable hard drive or flash drive). However, the motherboard's network controller does not exhibit this behavior.
Intel support is telling me that it can vary as to how the devices are detected by Windows and that this is normal. I have never ever seen a pci slot card being detected as a removable device in the 20 years that I have been using Windows, so I was wondering if what they are telling me is a valid statement? It seems kind of scary that this is happening.

Oh and is it appropriate for me to use this topic to ask another question regarding explorer.exe as while i am inside a folder i delete (by choosing delete from the context menu in the tree view) while inside that folder on this particular laptop PC explorer. always crashes, collect information, sends it and restarts explorer. I have not experienced this problem on any other pc running any version of windows 7, oh and the same happened with build 7264 x32 and the current install of build 7600 x64.
Have recently purchased a small usb inspection snake camera with led light and when testing it plugged it into two desktops computers (one xp pro not sure of the other as it was a network work computer) It automatically loaded the drivers and brought up a screen automatically with the realtime image.(no driver disc came with it). However plugging into my windows 7 64bit sony laptop it signals a connection beep, loaded drivers automatically but wouldn't open or show up on my computer disc manager as an external usb source to click on. It does however show up on device manager as a usb camera and when I unplug and replug in it disappears and reappears so I know I have the right camera (not the lap top webcam inbuilt one that shows USB 2 Camera). Have tried updating drivers automatically and uninstalling it etc. Need it to work on the lap top so it can act as the movable screen for it?
