Missing Network Adapter, But Device Manager OK?

May 18, 2011

It was working fine, I didn't install or change nothing (mostly is used as MediaCenter). It was working perfectly without any change for months. Then I shutdown one day as always, and when I reboot the next day no network is present. The PC is an Acer Aspire X3900 desktop with an integrated intel NIC. This is what I have seen: In the Windows 7 network configuration panel there isn't any NIC present. IPCONFIG shows nothing, no adapter is listed (is not like when you unplug the network cable and the adapter is listed buy without the IPs; now the command shows nothing at all). But, and that is the weird thing, in device manager all seems fine. The Intel NIC is listed without any warning mark. Looking the properties, all looks ok. This is what I had already try: I reinstalled the NIC drivers. No changes. Reinstalled the chipset drivers. No changes. Uninstalled NIC drivers with an Intel utility. Then I rebooted and reinstalled the drivers when windows detected the new hw. No changes. Disabled the NIC adapter in device manager, reboot and re-enable. No changes. Uninstalled the NIC adapter in device manager. Reboot and re-install the drivers when windows detect the new hw.No changes. Disabled the NIC adapter in BIOS. Boot windows, shutdown, re-enable the adapter in BIOS, and reboot. einstall the drivers. No change. Recover the system from an old recover point, but no change.

No Network Adapter In Device Manager

Jan 6, 2013

I noticed that I don't have any Internet connection (red x) but my laptop seems to have Internet connection. I checked my Device Manager and it seems that Network Adapter is missing instead there is 'Other Device' and below it was a 'Unknown Device' (with a yellow exclamation mark). I tried to install the driver but no luck via USB. I also did a system restore point but still no luck. I also tried to 'Scan for hardware changes' and still again, no luck... It's still unknown device.

I searched the Internet and they said the resetting the CMOS will solve this problem, is this true?

My specs:

Processor: AMD Athlon II x2 250 3.00GHz
Motherboard: EMX-AMD880HD3-PRO (Emaxx Technology)
RAM: 4.00GB
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 (OCed - is this safe?)
PSU: 600w
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Network Adapter Does Not AppearIin Device Manager

Dec 21, 2012

I just installed Windows 7 on an Acer Aspire 7551. The internal wireless network adapter does not appear in the device manager. So I am using an external USB wireless adapter until I get the internal one to work. I tried to contact Acer but if the system is out of warranty, you can drop dead for all they care. I went to their support website and downloaded a driver for 'Wireless LAN Driver'. They have two different vendors. I chose Broadcom. It downloaded a zip file and I don't know how to install it.

Netbook Network Connection Missing From Device Manager

Oct 30, 2011

I have an emachines em350, I installed Windows 7 as a clean install onto a new hard drive.

It's al sweet except the sound and network adapters have not installed. In fact it seems that Windows 7 is declaring they never existed in the first place.

I have retrieved the latest drivers, Windows 7 spits them out stating that the devices are not present. I have tried the older versions using compatibility mode. I have tried install legacy hardware. I have tried to flush them out through command prompt. Nothing.

The sound 'card' (which I believe to be onboard) is seen by device manager, but refuses to have anything*to do with drivers.

The LAN I also believe is part of the motherboard, but it just won't show at all.

Ports Missing From Device Manager

Jun 28, 2012

I have a first generation envy 14 running windows 7 HP. Ports (COM and lpt) were showing up and working fine up until I reformatted the computer. I then noticed that they were gone. I installed all the drivers for my machine, most notably the chipset drivers, from the HP website. I enabled "show hidden devices" in device manager. I reformatted again, including trying windows 8 beta, and then back to 7.

I went through the bios to look for an option to turn ports on or off, and couldn't find it. So I updated to the latest bios and checked again, including finding a way into the advanced menu. I'm at a loss now... its like the ports don't exist?

Wireless Network Adapter Missing After Resuming S3 From Sleep

Dec 15, 2011

My adapter is always gone from resuming from sleep. I know it was working before. Just changed my ram and bios settings from a fresh build. I am having this same issue with my newly built pc. The drive running Windows 7 is from a laptop where the mobo died. I am using it in AHCI mode because my case has a front hot swap caddy. I have a Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 mobo and after installing and uninstalling drivers, software, changing settings, removing ram, changing power options to maximum power for pci card and wifi, turning off hibernate, restarted, rebooted, updated all drivers from Gigabyte, chipset drivers, etc. I have unchecked "allow Windows to turn off this device". Restarted and tested and I get the same issue. I have unchecked this box in all of my networking devices too including, 802.11n Wireless Lan Card #2 and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter. Also, uninstalled and reinstalled these and updated drivers from my disc that came from Gigabyte as well as driver update from the Gigabyte website.

Nothing I do will turn on my wifi card after sleep. Windows will not see a network adapter. In device manager, there is no wireless card, even after showing hidden devices. Adding a device does not discover it. Installing the network card driver and software does nothing to detect it. Windows thinks there is no device connected. Everything works fine after restarting though. I have S3 enabled in bios as that is what I want. I have cpu fan that I don't want to hear with no option to turn them off. Otherwise, i'd be fine with S1. Is this just not a working feature? I've read that sleep is an ongoing issue with Windows, but my pc sleeps fine. I just want to be able to put my pc to S3 sleep and resume with a working wifi card. There must be a key setting I'm missing because I'm sure it was working with my last set of ram.

Missing Windows 7 Drivers Network Adapter - Error651, Can't Connect To Intern

Finally talked with MS support somewhere and they finally said that my network adapter was missing and said I had to buy a drivers and utility disk for my computer. I'm on ATT Uverse and 2 other computers in the house can connect just fine. It's not Uverse or the connection, it's something wrong with my W7 OS or my stupidity. Did I install the software OS incorrectly? Why is there something missing from my OS or computer? How can Windows 7 HP 64 bit not come with a network adapter or driver?

Oh and is it appropriate for me to use this topic to ask another question regarding explorer.exe as while i am inside a folder i delete (by choosing delete from the context menu in the tree view) while inside that folder on this particular laptop PC explorer. always crashes, collect information, sends it and restarts explorer. Windows 7 Usb Camera Device Shows Up In Device Manager But Not Computer

However plugging into my windows 7 64bit sony laptop it signals a connection beep, loaded drivers automatically but wouldn't open or show up on my computer disc manager as an external usb source to click on. It does however show up on device manager as a usb camera and when I unplug and replug in it disappears and reappears so I know I have the right camera (not the lap top webcam inbuilt one that shows USB 2 Camera). Have tried updating drivers automatically and uninstalling it etc. Need it to work on the lap top so it can act as the movable screen for it?
