When I RDP to the machine, it will connect to my login screen. But when I type in my userID and password, it will come up with a certificate error message. It will ask whether i want to connect anyway. When I click yes, it will return to the IP address box and will not login.

Neither of us are full time developers or PC experts so a user-friendly solution would be best.
At my work we are in the process of upgrading our network from server 2003 and xp on the clients to server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 on the clients. We have some productivity software that will not run on windows 7 64 bit so we have installed the XP mode virtual machine in order to run that software. The software installs fine and runs fine. The problem we are having is some of the software is used to program PLC's and so we need to be able to talk with these devices over the network at their IP addresses. I have configured the "virtual" ethernet adapter and windows 7 ethernet adapter the same. From the cmd prompt in win 7 i can obviously ping the devices and communicate with anything on the network however when I am running the XP mode I cannot access anything on the network. The virtual mode isnt recognizing any of the physical computers resources. Is there a way to make it so when running XP mode and the programs in XP mode the computer can communicate with other devices over the network?

Bought some pieces, assembled a new PC, installed Windows 7 Ultimate, then SP1, then several programs and everything seemed to be fine. But the next day, without changing anything, some programs won't start correctly, to be more precise: their processes seem to start (or at least they show up on Task Manager, but consuming only a few KB of ram and no CPU) but no program window appears whatsoever. Sometimes rebooting the PC will stop this from happening, but not always. Here I attach screenshots of CPU-Z and the customary files for debugging BSODs. Full system specs: [URL].

Both computers are running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, connected online through wifi, and connected to the network homegroup (that works without any issues), but neither or them detect any of my media devices. I have a Sony Viera ST30 TV and an Xbox 360, both having wired connections to the same network that the computers are on. Features that require the internet on both work perfectly fine. And I have a viera app on my phone that I used to use to control my tv (the app may not be compatible with my phone). Even having sharing enabled on the computers, they just wont detect my TV or my Xbox. If I connect my laptop to the network via wired connection, my devices are found. If I connect to a friend's wireless network, their devices are found as well. There has been no change on either computer from the last time it was working, till now.

I have a small network of six computers. Five of them run XP and I just added a Windows 7 machine. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine. Permissions on the XP that is hosting the database is set to allow everyone. And all the XP machines can access it at the same time.

Problems:
-XP machine can see Seven machine but can't access shared folders!

-Both machines have same workgroup MSHOME but when i go to homegroup it says there is no people in the homegroup!(see on screenshots)

Before i couldn't turn network discovery on,every time i was set it to on he was going to off so I searched on this forum(great forum) and finally i was able to turn it on,maybe others have this problem so there what i did:i go to start=>run=>services.msc and i turned on(also i switched them to automatic startup) these services DNS Client, Function Discovery Resource Publication, SSDP Discovery, and UPnP Device Host services.
IPv6 currently is enabled!
well i'm try to copy files from my xp machine to my win 7 machine i can see the xp machine but i get a message that says "make sure that the xp machine allow incoming connections for file sharing" and i have done just that i think but its a no go i've just about everything.

I bought all the components to build a new machine except I didn't want to spend extra money on another HDD to install the OS on my new 180GB Intel SSD. So basically, I want to use the HDD from my old computer, install W7 onto the SSD, then transfer the drive to my new computer, and use it on the machine and just reinstall all my other files.

Ive noticed when i try to play something on windows media player it will tell me that my computer is running low on memory and to close some windows. Also games run poorly if at all. I have a small three PC home network. Two PC are running Windows 7 and one running Vista.
All three machines have the same homegroup settings. The ability to view machines on the network is very patchy. One machine can see the others, while another machine can only see one other machine. Sometimes machines cannot see any others on the network.
All machines are connected wirelessly with strong signals through a BT 2700HGV Business Hub router. All of the machines can access the Internet without problems.
All machines run Eset Smart Security with the Windows firewall is turned off.
Any advice to create a stable network would be appreciated.
Can I upgrade from Windows ultimate 32bit ver 6.1 ( build 7600) to windows 7 ultimate 64bit edition and keep all of my installed programs and files ?[meaning not having them moved to a new folder called windows.old]

ive been getting BSODs and finally figured out how to debug it with WinDbg (x86) and set the symbols for windows but i cant read the text. ive tried reinstalling my GPU and Java but no luck. when i try to run intel driver update utility as soon as i run it i get a BSOD ive got the minidump here if anyone knows how to read it, so here you go.

I bought the full retail Win 7 Ultimate and trying to upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate to Win 7 Ultimate, both 32bit. I get to the Expanding Windows files to 21% and nothing. The program is still running and stuck at 21% but after waiting 3 hours I shut power off and Vista was reinstated. Why can't I get past 21% Expanding Windows files? I want to use the upgrade because I have a ton of programs on my Vista and don't want to spend days reinstalling them.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAs I shutdown/restart my laptop, I notice it switches to a secondary desktop that has been running programs.A good example would be trying to open my Task Manager, I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and it will allow me to open Task Manager - however when I click on Task Manager, it opens on the Desktop running in the background. I can't even access the Desktop in the background, it only shows up as I'm shutting down - closing programs that I tried opening awhile ago.
