Advice On Installing Windows 7 On New Ssd
Dec 9, 2010I just purchased a crucial 256gb realssd C300 for my 2month old Lenovo x201(Win 7P 64bit, i7 640m, 8gb RAM). What is the best way to install the new SSD. I have read that a simple cloning may not be the best approach for optimal performance. Should I do a clean install by using the boot disk I made when I first got the x201 along with the recovery media disks, then reinstall all programs?

Dec 8, 2009I'm thinking of upgrading my graphics card(s) sometime after Christmas (as one of my GX2's is slowly dying now i'm stuck with 1 98GX2) and am deciding on a few options I would like some opinions on.
a) 2 Nvidia GTX275's (AKA GTX295) $600 for the 2
b) 1 GXT295 $750 (takes me back to the GX2 day's)
c) Or I swing the other way and go for an ATI card, but I cannot take advantage of Crossfire technology as i'm running a Nvidia chipset. so it would have to be a high end card to make it worth it IMO, probably the 5850 $400 as the 5870 is almost $600.
I'm pretty rapped up on a pair of GXT275's, if I do run 2 of them, I will virtually have a GTX295 BUT with OpenGL 3.0 opposed to older OpenGL 2.1 on the GTX295.

I currently use an ATI X800 Pro. Although its lasted this long, ive had weird issue and bugs out of it and I would sort of prefer to go back to Nvidia. But i've heard that the only cards working with Direct X 11 are ATI for right now?
I haven't kept up with hardware for some time so i don't even know who's "winning" right now with the best cards out.

Encryption By User Advice Needed
Jul 8, 2012I know about EFS, but I am doing 3 laptops, one runs Windows 7 Home Premium and the other 2 run Vista Home Premium, none of them have EFS.
So what I am looking to do, is find a program that will let me encrypt a users home directory but not something where it has to be manually encrypted/decrypted, looking for something similar to what EFS does where it will encrypt/decrypt on the fly.

I have a cooling stand for it, and it hardly ever is moved because I know how hot it gets - its more like a desktop now. I've heard it is because of a bad heat sink design in the DV6 Series, but was wondering whether replacing the current thermal compound with something such as Arctic Silver would help at all? Mar 8, 2012I use Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. My problem is: Whenever I try to print something (word, pdf, or any other file); printer spooler stops working and when I check the Devices and Printers all the printer drivers seem to be disappeared. I checked the Print Spooler" in the Services tool; and set the "Recovery after subsequent failures" option to Restart the Service. Therefore all the printer drives coma back after 1 minute. However the spooler stops immediately again when the uncompleted printing job starts; hence I can not print anything more than a page. Earlier in this forum, someone posted that Microsoft issued a hotfix for this problem ( hotfix 2388142) which can be downloaded from article: [URL]. I downloaded this hotfix and tried to install, however it gives an error message of: The update is not applicable to your computer and quits installation. I did uninstall and reinstall all the printer drives, but this did not help either.

When I started that program I noticed that there were 3 MX850 printers listed, the original and a (Copy 1) and (Copy 2).So I went to devices and printers and saw there was a MX850 and a MX850 (Copy 2). No (Copy 1). So I removed the (Copy 2) printer and fax.I went back to CD Label print and saw that it still said MX850 and MX850 (Copy 1). Went back to devices and printers and sure enough, MX850 was gone and MX850 (Copy 1) was present. So I pressed F5. It changed to MX850. Press F5 again, it changed back to MX850 (Copy 1).It changes non-stop. It alternates betweem the two settings every time I press F5.I've tried uninstall re-install. I've also contacted Canon support who are dumbfounded. I also had to manually remove the registry entries and start menu entries because the canon uninstaller doesn't so it.I cannot use CD Label print. Each time I try to print a label it insists on asking where to save the file, rather than printing it.
