Nov 28, 2009I am currently running Windows XP 32-bit with 3GB of RAM installed 2x 1GB + 2x 512MB.
I am thinking of buying another 2x 1GB sticks of RAM to bring my total RAM up to 4GB. As Windows XP only recognizes 3-3.5GB of RAM will Windows 7 32-bit recognize and utilize the full 4GB? So basically is it worth getting an extra 1GB of RAM for Windows 7?

2 Computers On Network Only 1 Can Utilize
Mar 8, 2012I have 2 computers, 1 a old desktop running on-board lan using a wired connection to my router. my laptop using wireless connection to my router. Router is a linksys wrt110. Ive had the problem for years and it wasn't much of a issue. The desktop orginally ran Vista x64 and my other computer ran XP so i just figured it was a problem between the two OS, But now both systems run 7 and now i still have the same problem.
The problem is initally this: My desktop can access my laptop but my laptop cannot access my desktop. Ive triple checked all network setting,made sure all sharing options are checked, made sure im in the same workgroup. But when I try to access my desktop via my laptop i get "Windows cannot access \0320-pc" "You do not have permission to access \0320-PC. Contact my network administrator."

On her old laptop, (now defunct) running XP, with built-in modem, this was no problem; she simply right-clicked the taskbar and chose "disconnect". Her new laptop, running Windows 7, has no modem, so I got a USB one for her - it connects effortlessly, but we can find no way of disconnecting it and carrying on working offline, except by physically unplugging it, which seems a bit inelegant if nothing else.

Currently it is using the Intel card for my built-in display on the laptop.The max resolution is only 1366 x 728. I am looking for any way to jack up the resolution.Is there a way to switch the built-in monitor's video card to the GeForce, with hopes that it offers a higher resolution?The only thing I could find is a way to utilize the Nvidia card for another monitor if I plug it in, but not for the built-in display of the laptop.
USB Ports Keep Going Up In Number
Nov 7, 2010On my Dell Vostro laptop, Up until today I never had a problem but now when I plug in my energy monitor to a USB port I do.. I have a mouse plugged in one port. If I plug in my energy monitor into any of the other 3 USB ports it installs a USB to serial port at the next higher com number. Its up to com 18 now. If I unplug and replug it in again it will find USB to serial com 19. It just keeps going up. How can I reset it back to 3 or 4.

Probably temporary fault and should try again later. I've tried many times since yesterday morning when the problem started, have restarted my computer and disconnected/reconnected my internet connection but still have the problem. The first step I must do is to partition a disk.As far as I have been reading tutorials on this site it is recommended to separate Windows/ programs and Documents into separate partitions. So I am going to create C- partition for Windows and Program Files of about 100MB.What about the other partitions. Is it worth to create separate partitions for say for "Images", "Documents", "Development Projects". Or is it better to put all this stuff into one partition? Advantage of multiple partitions, as I see, would be more flexibility for backup/recovery. From the other side, disadvantage of multiple partitions would be not optimal usage of disk space.
