May 29, 2012I've done manual reconnection (NEVER WORKS) and Troubleshooting (hardly ever works). I've tried disabling and reenabling the wireless and restarting the computer. Nothing can seem to prevent these problems from happening. Sometimes the network won't even show up!
I can't fathom how it's possible to SOMETIMES detect the network and SOMETIMES connect to it. I've thought of purchasing a repeating (quite pricey if you ask me) or perhaps using an antenna extension cable. Not sure either would be successful in alleviating my problem.
Finally, and the most odd thing, is that when the router was in the basement, I actually got a better signal even though it was LOWER than before. Not sure if this was because it was connected directly to the phone box, but the router is back on the first floor and the problem persists daily.
Laptop Cannot Stay Connected To Wireless After A Standby
Jan 9, 20131) Since about 2-3 days ago, my laptop wouldn't stay connected to wireless once I put the laptop on standby. I have to connect to it each time I open my laptop. This has never happened before so I feel like something went wrong.
2) My wireless won't connect to any other connections other than my home. I went on a ski trip recently, and while my wireless worked on my iphone and ipad, my laptop wasn't able to connect to it. I feel like this laptop has a lot of weird configuration problems. It also won't connect to my home network unless SSID is disabled. So this brings up the question, will my laptop never be able to connect to any network that has SSID enabled? This is really weird and frustrating because my laptop used to be able to connect to my home router fine while its SSID was enabled. I don't get what happened to it. This is troublesome because that means that I will never be able to use wireless anywhere else other than my home.
my settings regarding wireless? Does anything seem abnormal?

Mar 31, 2012ok i have just been given a dell desktop by my partners sister as she was just going to bin it so i said i would have it to see if i can fix it... so the problem is it needs a good clean inside the tower as its full of dust, so i connect it all up and boot the tower and monitor up and i see on the monitor the dell startup logo then it goes off quick and i can see the faded loading bar then i dont see anything just black screen, and the tower shuts itself off and back on again a few times and then jus the tower iv just cleaned out, never seen so much dust in my life lol its sound smooth when running now as all the fans have been taken out and cleaned and even the power supply as that had quite a bit of dust in ihavent got another monitor to test with, was trying to find a way to use my laptop on the monitor i will re install windows once i can get it up and running..

Jan 30, 2012I've installed windows server and Virtual PC Console to setup a new Virtual Machine. I can setup the machine but not run it because I don't have an ISO File. When Im gonna start my VM I get a messages that says; Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device. Oct 8, 2011I have recently obtained a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. This is the first time I'm using Windows 7.My HDD light on the laptop keeps blinking, even when I'm not doing anything, just staring at the desktop. I don't notice anything on the performance, everything seems to run fineOne thing I was immediately aware of is how Windows 7 seems to run a lot of processes in the background; indexing, defragging, etc... I have turned these off, along with stuff like WDefender,Firewall, my hdd light still keeps blinking.I have also noticed that googling this issue reveals lots of results with mixed replies. Some say HDD light is supposed to be blinking and/or this is completely normal, others say it might be an issue.Just as I was writing this, I also downloaded a gadget for monitoring hdd: Drives Meter. Looking at the graph, the hdd doesn't seem to be doing much. It usually stays on %0, just some little activity here and there... Yet the light is blinking on a heartbeat rate. Bear in mind, I am running Comodo+Eset at the background; however, for comparison, on my PC (running XP Pro) which also runs Comodo+Eset, there is no blinking whatsoever.

Oct 12, 2012My only way of watching my blu-rays is on my computer. I've been using PowerDVD 11 Ultra for a while without significant problems. I recently noticed, however, that it was stopping playback during movies, simply pausing and then crashing. I decided to reinstall in the hope of getting smooth playback. After doing so, I had a new problem: all blu-ray video was now very light, forcing all darks to be gray, instead. I should note that I have a Radeon 5770 card and Catalyst's video settings are disabled to allow the player to function without interference (Catalyst 12.6). Despite that, however, PDVD still just gives me gray blacks. I tried downloading TotalMedia Theater and WinDVD trial versions to find a program that works right. To my shock and horror, I have the exact same problem with them, too. What is wrong with the blu-ray playback that has caused programs to play incorrectly? I am convinced that the problem is not related to my computer. One moment, everything was fine. The next moment, everything was bugged. Please note that all other video looks perfect, whether it be DVD, video files, or online videos with my Catalyst settings applied to them.Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Does Blu-Ray software actually work right on computers? I noticed that the Cyberlink forums have plenty of people talking about this same issue happening with PDVD12. Considering that I had the exact problem with the other two programs, I think this goes beyond software developers.
