View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a 1 TB Western Digital Caviar Black hard disk. While installing Windows 7, a screen for hard disk partition was asked. I created 4 drives: 200 GB, 200 GB, 200 GB and 400 GB. And then the windows 7 got installed. But now when I log into my PC, I can only see first 3 200 GB drives. Where did my 400 GB drive go? What mistake did I do and how can I recover it back?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend's laptop (Acer Aspire One 722 - Windows 7 x64) has been shut down after opening an email and Windows never started up again. When you attempt to start up the windows, it stays the black screen and says "No bootable Device Found"! I inserted Windows Live Disk and loaded it (Windows XP Mini - Golden Edition). When I went to "My Computer", it did not show any local drive. I went to "Disk Management" and in there, there was also no unallocated or allocated space. I even removed the HDD and plugged it back in. No thing happened. Then I removed the RAM card and inserted it back. Again, nothing happened! By the way, HDD had movements when laptop was on (I had removed the beneath panel).I inserted Windows 7 Disk to install a fresh Windows 7. But when you get to the part where it asks you to choose the partition to install the operating Sustem, it shows one unallocated drive with 0 (Zero) capacity! The options to Delete and format are disable. Only the option "New" is active and it gives you (0) bite to partition!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using a Windows 7 PC built by a friend of mine, but starting yesterday, its been acting up. The problem is there used to be two hard drives I can access, Drive B and Drive C. When I boot up the computer, BIOS only detects Drive C (if I'm not mistaken), and Disk Managements as well. I realized this when all the programs whose targets are on that drive are all broken on the desktop. So Drive B doesn't show up anywhere at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to reformat my dads hard drive to reinstall windows 7. It was in 2 partitions, so I ran the windows 7 disc and it ran through the motions, I formatted the c to re-install windows and it wouldn't let me. I went into dos under diskpart to try and format it that way, still no luck. I connected it to my computer then under disk management deleted the 2 partitions so there was only 1 now which had the size i.e, 600GB Unallocated. I connected it back into my dads computer and ran the set-up again. Now the computer wont even detect the drive. I need to re-format the drive to like factory default, is this possible, also do I have to do it in dos.

I purchased a new PC with Windows 7 in June 2012. It came with a Samsung optical disk containing Windows 7. I am eligible for the $14.99 USD upgrade to Windows 8.Will there be an installation disk for Windows 8 available at this price and if not, then how much more will it cost?If not, then how should I ensure that I can easily install Windows 8 after a hard disk crash? Do I have to keep my Samsung optical disk of Windows 7?

View 6 Replies View Relatedso I got a new asus P8z68-V pro motherboard. Im re-using my current 750gb SATA drive. I plugged it into the sata port, and start the computer. When it starts it says "no hard drive is detected!" I go into the bios, and on the bottom it has a disk drive, and a SATA drive. It recognizes that the sata drive is there, but when i go to start up it says no hard drive is detected. I have tried a few different sata ports and it is the exact same thing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got an issue during post installation. One of my hard drive is never given a drive letter, but it does show up as a possible install drive during setup.
I always have to go into Drive Management and assign that drive a letter (and moving my DVD drive down a letter to keep the letters in order).
Under Drive Management the drive has the Properties (System, Active, Primary Partition), so I'm wondering if that is the issue.
Is there a way to change Drive Properties (if that is the case)?

View 1 Replies View Relatedhaving an issue with a brand new HD I bought. Right now Windows 7 will not detect the HD as a drive. It shows up in the BIOS correctly, but not in My Computer. It is in a Frankenstein setup: SATA connection into the SATA port on the MB (it is enabled and showing), with power from an external HD enclosure.I don't think that would affect it though, as it is just drawing power from a different PS.i did some digging and found it in the System Information under 'discs' instead of 'drives' like my original HD.[URL]...
View 2 Replies View Relatedfor some reason my internal hard drive after installing it and reinstalling windows 7 it does not show up for some reason... I have check the cords to make sure they are in correctly
My Boot menu says it's there but my OS does not see it?
I have a sata to esata adapter installed on my desktop but its not spinning up or working my hard drive. The hard drive has 3 ports
Usb to usb
Usb to dc power
Esata to esata
Over usb it works fine but when i use the esata and power cable the hard drive makes a constant ticking noise and isnt detected on windows. Ive double checked inside my motherboard that its plugged into my sata ll port not sata lll. It isnt detected at all by the computer even when i search for new hardware.
I have an 1T external drive plugged into esata port. It used to work and now it doesn't? When I boot up bios correctly identifies the drive as a seagate sata drive. When I look at device manager is says its a seagate SCSI drive and therefore the system doesn't recognize it at all? In device manager under drive properties it say " this device is working properly" I checked in disk management.
View 9 Replies View Related150gb eagle usb drive is not getting detected on my desktop or my laptop , i even tried a friends pc didnt work..
what happened was when i was moving files from my portable hdd to my desktop one of the files (8.5gb) was unable to move.. so i skipped it. anyways i was seeing that 10 mins later that the copying "bar" was not moving at all therefore i pressed cancel to stop the operation. seeing after 15mins later it was just frozen i opened task manager and ended it. then plugged it out. no it just doesn't seem to show up at all. I only see the light on the hdd.
I am trying to install windows 7 for a friend but the hard drive isn't detected within windows setup or within the bios. I have tried installing SATA drivers to try and get windows to recognise the hard drive but to no avail. Is there anything else I can try before assuming that the hard drive may be faulty?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy hard drive, a WD Scorpio 200GB, is not being detected in bios. AHCI mode is enabled. When I go into the Advanced BIOS Features, all the master and slave configs are none; however, my SSD is recognized as I am on my computer right now using it. I tried every SATA Port, EVEN THE SATA PORT MY SSD IS INSTALLED ON, and it doesn't work; I tried 2 different cables and still no recognition; I tried 4 different hard drives and still no recognition, so it is not a problem with my motherboard, hard drives, or cables. What should I do? I have been trying to figure this out for 4 hours.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an Iomega 1TB external hard drive to back up my files from my Laptop (Toshiba satellite) because it has been constantly showing hard drive failure warnings and messages telling me to back up my files. When I connected the hard drive the first time, it worked fine and I was able to access it, but didn't use it for anything at the time. The next time I used it, however, the usual "New device" sound didn't play and the hard drive didn't show up in the file browser. I then looked up the issue to find that it is a common problem where the device hasn't been assigned a drive letter. I went to the Disk Manager to fix the issue but the device was not in the list of connected devices. The problem seems to be with my computer because it works fine on my brother's computer and has no issues.Additionally, I have been having problems with Windows Update being stuck on "Downloading 0%" and have had to use the system restore several times when getting stuck on an update message on startup. I think that this may be the cause of the problem (and yes, I have turned on the hard drive).
