Windows Could Not Parse Or Process Unattend Answer File
Dec 30, 2012
I am trying to move user directories when doing a clean install of windows Pro. During the OOBE boot, I get this error:
Windows could not parse or process unattend answer file [C:WindowsPantherunattend.xml] for pass [oobe]. The setting specified in the error file cannot be applied. The error was detected while processing settings for component [Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup].
Here is the answer file(product key X'ed out):

I'm trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate on a Sony Vaio AR41s via a DVD that I burned (slowest speed, was very careful about that) but upon starting the installation I get the error message: Windows cannot parse the unattend answer file's <DiskConfiguration> setting After closing this dialog box the laptop reboots and starts the process from scratch.The Vaio has nothing on it as far as I'm aware (No OS found etc...) so I'm pretty sure this is as clean a install as I could do.
Here's the specs of the AR41s:
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 @ 2.2 GHz
Cache Memory - 4 MB - L2 Cache
RAM - DDR II SDRAM - 667 MHz - PC2-5300 ( 2 x 1 GB )
HDD - 2x 160 GB - Serial ATA-150 @ 5400 rpm
Optical Storage - BD-RE
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT - 256 MB
OS - N/A
Running the 2x160GB HDDs in RAID 0 configuration. I tried de-RAID'ing the HDDs to see if that was the problem but I get the same result.

I want to use a very simple unattend file to image Windows 7 and deploy with Ghost. My issue is that I need the install to PROMPT me for a computer name, THEN have it perform the Unattend Join to the Domain. I am hoping to only need the Specialize and OOBE passes, but if I need more fine - this is my only issue.
If I let it select a randam PC name, then it joins the domain fine, but if I take out the computer "Tags" which seem to be the only way to get it to prompt, it has already tried to join the domain unsuccessfully. Please advise.. All over the net people are having this problem.
I'm using the latest WAIK download. Here is my unattend file: THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP. I don't know why my file came out in backwards order, but I don't believe that matters, it still will do the specialize pass first.

I created an answer file using the windows AIK tool called Windows System Image manager tool. Great tool by the way! Well even better once I get my Answer file to boot from the USB. I created the answer file and copied it to my USB drive inserted the Win7 Ultimate disk in by cd Rom and USB in its port and when I reboot it tells me unable to find boot.

The problem I am having is that new computers (direct from manufacturer) are not processing the answer file correctly I have the file set to delete the partitions and build new ones but it does not do so. What I have to do is manually delete the existing partitions that come loaded and once I have done that I reboot and then my partitions prepare correctly. How can I make this work so that it deletes and builds the partitions correctly.
Code: <DiskConfiguration>
<Disk wcm:action="add">
<CreatePartitions>
<CreatePartition wcm:action="add">

I am getting this error all the time with Windows 7. I open a text file I want to edit, then go to save my changes and I get this error:"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".I have full admin rights, running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1. From a bit of research I have seen where many others have been experiencing this problem or something similar too. The only "fix" (that doesn't work all the time) is to close explorer.exe and then restart it to "release the handle"? Anyway, this is not acceptable for all the money and time I spent upgrading/configuring this new OS from XP -where I never had this problem- and seriously cuts down my productivity.Has Microsoft even acknowledged this as a bug yet? I can duplicate this scenario the second or third time I try to edit/save/delete a text file and I know that explorer.exe is the problem or a big part of it in any case. I don't want to go back to XP x64 but having to deal with this headache 10-20 times a day is just too much to ask.The file here is a game's map script & has to be saved to a .pk3 and then loaded into the program's root before it can run so i know othing else is running the file. No apps running in taskmngr either.

a few months back, I use windows update to install a windows update. After, some strange things have hapend. When I booted my computer on, my monitor went into powersave mode and wouldent come out of it, so I switched the port and it worked fine. I then went to play minecraft, I noticed it was very laggy. I checked my system score and it has dropped by 1.1 points for some reason. I tried to use recovery to roll back the update but it didnt make a difference, so I tried to re-install the OS. I went to control pannel -> Recovery -> advance recovery methods and reinstall windows. It restarted, and once it restarted and boots into the part when I am reintalling the OS it it gives an error:"The unattended answer file contains an invalid product key. Either remove the invalid key or provide a valid product key in the unattended answer file to proceed with this windows installation."What I have tried:
Re entering the product key
Try to install it many times
reinstalling drivers
using recovery

When I try to open a process file location, it won't let me. Specifically, this is winlogon.exe. I'm afraid it might have a virus, since my internet is running pretty slow and I haven't seen this process stay on the task list for as long as it is now.

I was thinking today about how all the time people need to copy/paste text links they find on the internet.I know there are many extensions that add the functionality of parsing text links, but shouldn't this be a feature automatically implemented in most current browsers?I can't think of any good reason not to have this option available, since I'm sure millions of people each day need to tediously copy/paste the addresses of sites they find in these all-text areas of the internet

I have a quick question about compressing a bunch of log files that have specific years at the end of their file names.[code When the above is executed, it looks for an "archives" folder. If it's not there, it tries to create it as a place to store the yearly ZIP archives (notice the years are in bold in the above list of example files). Beyond that, it just goes through steps of reading the file names and parsing the name itself if and only if they're of type *.log. As you can see, I'm still working on this but wanted to understand why "ECHO is off." keeps repeated during runtime... I thought I had it set to OFF. It has me stumped.

New dell n7110/win7sp1x64.At startup on new machine from dell, process explorer (procexp64.exe) lists 81 processes running (seems like way too many - compared to xp with maybe 25 at startup). But which processes I can turn off is a question for another day. OK, read carefully, at least 15 processes in PE show " Path: error opening process". PID, CPU, Private Bytes, and working set columns are shown for these "problem" processes, but nothing after that, ie, description, company name etc. For all other listed running processes (with known paths), all info is shown in all columns. The problem processes include some important ones, services, crss, ism, wininit, winlogon, that must to be working for the computer to work, and everything seems to be working properly, and no cpu spikes or other weird stuff is happening. Right clicking properties on these problem processes, properties window pops up as normal, but shows "version: n/a, build: n/a, path: error opening process, no command line, no current directory, autostart location: n/a, Parent: non existent process (708), user: access denied. Again, this info can not be correct since the computer is working. And then, after a few minutes, another window pops up and says PE has stopped working, and closes the program. Now, if this was the whole story, I would go to sysinternals with this, but read on... Task manager running simultaneously with PE lists 83 processes running, more processes than PE, and also ~5 different processes than PE, and PE lists some processes running that TM doesn't list. So PE and TM show different running processes at the same time. How can that be? For the processes that PE shows "error opening", e.g., crss, etc., when I click properties in TM for the same process, sometimes I get the usual/normal pop-up window listing the path, and all the other data as normal, suggesting the process is working properly. But sometimes when I click properties in TM for the processes that PE shows "error opening", I get no pop-up at all, nothing for that process. So, IMO, it's not just a PE glitch, something is actually wrong here. This is a new machine, with PE the only 3rd party installation. I have installed several dell driver updates, but this problem occurred before I installed them. Also, remember PE and TM simultaneously list some different running processes and TM also fails to show paths, etc.

First things first. Brand new discovery! Did you know that it's impossible not to backing-up and lose your old files during Windows 7 installation? That's right! Microsoft contradicting it-self in the first steps of installation preparation step by step information. At first they say that we should back-up our old files as they WILL BE deleted. Then they practically force an option of where our old Windows files will be backed up into Windows.old folder. So the folders such as "Users, Program Files, Windows ...etc" will be stored in Windows.old folder. And any other files created by you that are stored in "C:" directory will remain untouched! So don't worry about upgrading or backing up anything, since Windows 7 does it all for you! My advice, just go with a clean install and you'll be safer that way. Now back to business. Have you ever experienced a really bad day with such as Windows 7?Possible solutions for your headache have finally arrived:We need to try almost everything possible in our powers to locate and solve the problems, right?NOTE: I'm gonna do these steps backwards like if we don't really know how to solve this quick!

I have Windows 7 32 bit on my laptop and Windows 7 64 bit on the desktop, both Home Premium. Every time I go online with the desktop it starts a download according to NetLimiter. The download appears as Host process for Windows services and it expands to process 720 and then to 92.122.126.243:80. I use 3G mobile broadband for my net access and this download could use a considerable amount of my Gb allowance. Using NetLimiter I can kill the download but I would like to know what is happening and do I need the download? Some idea of the d/l size would be handy as well. None of this happens when I log on using the laptop.

i have a computer that was running fine for a year or so, but now its been a couple of days and after an hour or two of use, it slows down and finally freezes. I dont know what it is. The clues i have include:
-ive run memtest86, no errors.
-ive scanned the whole system with 4 different virus programs, so not a virus.
-but ive noticed that rundll32.exe has been using ALOT and i mean ALOT of resources. After a couple hours, norton tells me that it has high disk and cpu usage. i checked core temp and voila, 100% on all 4 amd phenom 955 cores. I dont get it.
Specs are:
