I have used this router for 3 years with the same key on 3 laptops. After ISP outage was sorted at the exchange one laptop ceased to remember the passkey. Others do.
How can I get it to save that key?
Tried suggested solutions in other threads with no solution. Eg., removal wireless network and re-enter it. I cannot remove it; I can disconnect, but how to remove it?
Trying to Add a new W'network lists none present (but I am connected) and after entering new W'network name, etc., I get "Access is Denied".
Currently I am using a Dell laptop with XP which is connected to my house's wireless connection. SSID itself is an open WEP. I had no problem connecting with the XP laptop; it asked me for a password, I put it in and it worked. When I try connecting with my other Dell laptop with Windows 7, it won't ask me for a password and say, "Windows was unable to connect to _____."
I then tried manually connecting to the wireless connection under the network settings. I've tried all WEP options and made sure the password was correct countless times and still I'm unable to connect to the wifi.
I spoke with a Dell representative, but all they suggested was to pay for another help service.
I am using a Linksys WRT160nv2, I recently clean installed windows 7 on my Vista desktop. I thought it would be my NIC having problems so I installed a linksys WMP600N. It worked for a while until I updated everything and restarted now it won't work again.
I just added a password to my home network. But now that I have a password I cant connect without the ehternet cable. All other devices ie T.V, desktop upstairs, ps3 and xbox and smart phones can connect wirelessly. The only device that wont let me connect wirelessly is the laptop that I used to set up the passkey. Furthermore when connecting to the network on the other devices it doesnt ask for the password.
How to use an iMac as a wirless router with WPA2? I would like to share my broadband Internet connection that is provided by RJ-45 wired connection to my iMac. I have a Windows 7 laptop that I would like to use and have it connect to my iMac wirelessly. I have figured out how to share the iMac's airport connection but unfortunately the Mac OS X 10 software only supports WEP.
I setup WPA2 on my router and everyone can connect just fine. But a new laptop with Windows 7 that used to be able to connect before I set WPA2 can no longer connect. It takes a few minutes connecting saying "Identifying" then ends up saying it's connected with "Unidentified network". Can't ping the router, can't get to the internet etc. I've tried rebooting both the laptop and router, network diagnostic (which just tells me to reboot the router) etc and nothing works.
I 'm trying to connect my netbook to my wireless home network but it won't recognise the security key. I have Windows 7 32 bit installed. I have successfully connected it to my sister's network which is WPA2 protected, but when I try to connect to my own d-link dsl 2680 router, it keeps telling me that the security key or passphrase is incorrect even though I am typing in exactly the right password. My router is also WPA2 protected but for some reason the netbook fails to connect. My other laptop and my PC have no problem connecting at all though. It's just the netbook that seems to be the problem. It will however connect with a cable and also if I change the router's security setting to WEP. However I don't really want to leave it as WEP as this is less secure than WPA2. I've tried changing the SSID and password but it still won't connect. Before I installed Windows 7 I had XP running on the netbook and then it connected no problem. I don't know why I can connect to my sister's network but not my own.
As you can see from the screenshot on imgur, a device recently began to appear in my network. I assume the device named Jennings-PC is a wifi enabled device that is being detected by some node om my network. Any one else experiecned similar issues or know how to prevent it from appearing? My network is secured using WPA2, the device is not associated with the router in any way. [URL]
I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing. The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.
Is there any way to set the default save location folder for downloads in IE8 to the last folder that the same file type was saved in? It makes no sense to default to a single folder and have to browse through to the desired folder for every single download, so I assume there has to be an option somewhere.
My computer is running windows 7 ultimate. From the last few days I have noticed that my computer does not save changes before shutdown or restart.
Take for example you have placed the recycle bin folder on top-left corner of the desktop which was earlier placed on the bottom-right corner. Then after restarting you would get the recycle bin folder again on the bottom right corner. But if you save something in the disk like a document in Documents folder, then it will still be there at the disk even after restart.
I bought my new computer about 3-4 months ago but the other day it decided to stop saving web history. It will show some pages but not all. If it does save, it will save the initial page but nothing after that. Normally when opening a website, a bar will appear above the taskbar at the bottom of the screen that says 'Website found, Waiting for reply...' on the left hand side and 100% on the right, etc., that bar is no longer appearing. I've check the internet options part and the 'delete browsing history on exit' is unchecked. Disk space is set at 250 and days at 20. I'm running windows 7, IE 9.
I've been experiencing a strange (and very frustrating) issue in the last few months in relation to my wireless network profile. At home we recently changed our wireless router. It seems to be working fine on every machine in the house (running everything from XP to OSX to Win 7) except my machine which does the following:On reboot, no matter what, it seem to not want to save the wireless network profile and will continually look for the old wireless network (which I try to delete but seems to re-appear every time) and force me to re-enter the password for the new network. It reverts to the state it was in before the new wireless was picked up, trying to connect to the old network which should be removed.
Today, I tried to run a "clean" start-up. I went into msconfig and under the "services" tab and disabled all services not from Microsoft - This stopped it from reverting and looking for the old network. I got the idea from a thread on the microsoft forums which said to try and locate the service related to the wireless card (I was not able to find mine from the list). As i start to bring the services back in, it puts it back in the state with the old network and does not want to save the new one. One of the services seems to be holding something to stop it from saving in the way it should beIf this helps, this screenshot has all the services (the only one cut off is "Steam Client Service" - Valve corporation which i tested in isolation and did not seem to cause the issue)I've searched this to death and can't find any solution, one of these services seems to be holding it.
Ive been having a problem with my services program. My laptop (vaio) has been having problems with the hot-keys and I found out the problem was that the Vaio Event Service doesnt start when I turn it on so i turn the service on and set the service to start automatically at start-up.
I had this OLD password that I had set. During this time I had that password I did use windows' system image utility to backup my old 500GB drive to restore it on a 1TB drive and I did that while I had this password. Now, when I try to change the password it will not save the change. When I change it, I can logout and it will accept the NEW password, but once I reboot or shut down and it comes back up, it only accepts the OLD password.
I had bought my Acer notebook a while back, which had 3Gb, but seemed insufficient for my work. Hence, I upgraded it with two new RAM Modules of Transcend make (2 X 4Gb) recently. However, I haven't found any noticeable performance improvement post this huge upgrade. Also, when I check the Virtual Memory settings, it shows that "Currently Allocated - 8054 Mb" and "Recommended - 12081 Mb". The check box on "Automatically allow windows to manage paging file size" is checked by default. Every time I go to this screen, and even though I don't change anything, it prompts me to save the setting and restart windows.
I'm buying a new system, so I will have to make a fresh install of windows. I spent many hours customizing windows and editing settings... Would it be possible to save those preferences and restore it to my new win7 installation? For example, I made a custom theme for windows 7, I know I can save and export it, then import it on the new windows7 installation. But what about other settings? Like everything in the control panel.
I haven't been able to save for along time now a photo off the web . It's only giving me an option to " Save As " Bit Map or BMP . How do I resolve this problem? I had no problem in the past but all of a sudden it's only alllowing me this one.I have tried clearing /cookies/cache all the stuff others said to do and it's not working. Should I let the store where I purchased it look at it? I'm still under warrenty. I don't want to have to use Paint Shop to do each and every photo. Please help. Please do not post your @mail (that way u are helping to spread the spam), u will be automatically notified if some one post fresh line in your thread.
I am using Windows 7 and Chrome, no Antivirus or Firewall. I have a problem - when I download my files from Rapidshare (others hostings seems to be working) to disk D (not system disk), when file is downloaded, I go to folder and I see nothing. I have used a Windows Search, Windows Brandmawer is off. No viruses.
I have an Acer Aspire One D255 (windows 7 ultimate) I have a problem. Why is it that whenever I change my desktop backgound and after shutting it down, the background was not what I chose? And i downloaded files (for example AIMP3 and some music files) and ALSO after shutting it down, all downloaded files and copied files were missing?
I currently am doing file sharing through Samba. My Samba server is running on Fedora Core 8, and I am trying to access the network drive through Windows 7. I can map a network drive to Samba, and I can view and share my files fine.
The problem I am having is that I always ask it to save my login credentials (which are different than my Windows 7 login credentials), and it never does. I have to map the network drive each time I boot up my computer again.
how to permanently keep these settings so I do not have to map this each time I start the computer?
I am used to Outlook Express and when saving an incoming message I have the choice of which folder to save it to. Now I have Windows Live Mail and figure it must be the same in this regard, but I cant find any choice other than Save or Save as File. So, when I click Save it ends up in the Draft folder and then I have to drag it to the folder I really want it in. How do I save to other folders than the Draft one?
I have 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium here on my home-built computer. The monitor enters power save mode exactly 20 minutes after I last touch the keyboard or mouse. When I am watching movies on my computer, it gets frustrating that I have to move the mouse every so often just so that I get 20 more minutes of uninterrupted viewing time. Unlike other users here that have reported similar issues, the computer returns to normal once I move the mouse (for another 20 minutes, then returns to power save). In addition, sometimes the sound mutes when it goes into power save mode.
I would like to know how I can disable this so that the computer does not enter power save mode. My Windows 7 power settings are already set to High Performance mode, to Never turn off the display and Never put the computer to sleep. The advanced settings have also been set not to enter power save. Yet the system still goes to power save after exactly 20 minutes.
I have looked at monitor settings, video card settings, and BIOS settings to see if there are any power save options that I could select or change, to no avail. I contacted eVGA (my video card manufacturer) and ASUS (my motherboard manufacturer) about the issue, and both replied that the problem was with the Operating System.
I've recently found that I'm unable to use the "save as" function on any 32bit applications as attempting to do so causes the system to hang as it loads the explorer browser to allow me to pick a save location. I initially discovered the problem about a week ago and originally thought the problem was just limited to Internet Explorer and Firefox, but after poking around my system a bit more, it looks like its affecting everything except 64bit Internet Explorer 8 which can save without any problems.
