After Microsoft updates my system font is now looking like 'graphics'. It is only circles, different kind lines, cubes, corners, triangles, x-marks and so on. Win7 works alright but it is almost imposiible to use that because Internet explorer has also changed it's font unredable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI suddenly started seeing this ugly font (see images below) on many webpages.I think this issue began right around the time I installed some other fonts, but I am not sure. Initially, I figured it was a Chrome thing but have since confirmed the issue extends to IE and Firefox, leading me to believe this is a Windows issue. By the time I tried to revert the changes via System Restore, it was too late (restore only went back a few days; maybe I need to adjust settings there?).I tried to reset the default font but Windows does not seem to respond to that. When I click "Restore to default font settings" the button greys out but nothing else happens. No dialog box and no change in the issue.

I have been applying different visual styles to my machine, and I recently applied one that had a small font, which I didn't really like.. So I deleted that font from my system fonts, and then reapplied the theme (I really like the theme, except for the font used). However, now I can't view some dialogs, like the windows sounds dialog for example, as you can see in the attached screenshot below. I imagine that somewhere in the visual style, the size of the font is enlarged, so as the accomodate the supplied, smaller, font. I don't know how to change it back.. I've tried applying different visual styles, and even the default visual style (through the Personalize dialog).Does anyone know how I can change the font back to the original size? [code]

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter restarting Windows 7 it gets to the login screen (the one that says "Windows 7" at the bottom) that is supposed to show the available profiles. But no profiles are shown. After about 30 seconds an error message pops up that appears to be in the "Wingdings" or some similar font. It's gibberish. I can't find any info on this anywhere.I was able to get into a command prompt by booting to the repair console thing from the Windows disc. Startup repair did nothing. I tried the fix mbr, rebuild bcd, and fix boot commands and they didn't help. I actually started getting a black screen at bootup that saied winload.exe cannot be verified. I seem to have "fixed" that but now am back at this error message. It's the oddest thing I've ever seen.It does the same with "safe mode" (minus the error message) and even with "last know good...". the cursors stays on screen and can be moved, plus every few seconds the screen flashes black very quickly. Does the error message look familiar to anyone (except for the font used of course). Note that going into the repair disc and using start-up repair did nothing.

I get the error message "autochk program not found" then stop: c000021a Fatal System Error. I have run System Recovery several times to no avail. I tried to do a repair using the Win 7 DVD, but that didn't work either.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi recently got a computer from my aunt, and decided to put windows 7 on it. Before I installed it, I put in a Geforce 8800 graphics card and a (2nd) cd rom drive. After 20 failed attempts to install windows 7 (it kept freezing at the completing installation part) it worked after i disconnected the new graphics card and one of the hard drives. Now, however, i keep on getting periodic blue screens with the following error messages : Memory Management, and PFN_List Corrupt. I ran a memory diagnostic and it said that the memory is fine. What is wrong with my computer? I also ran a system repair thing from the windows 7 disk, and it came up with this error: System File Integrity Check and Repair Error Code 0X490

when i click format a 150 gb partition space in disk management option i recieved the following message "An unexpected error has occurred. Check the System Event Log for more information on the error. Close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer". and the drive does not appear like other drives in MY Computer?

All goes well, it installs everything, but as it finished I get this error: I have tried redownloading, using other installers and updating my graphics drivers. Nothing will work. It's probably worth mentioning that the first time I tried installing, about a week ago, my computer totally froze in the middle of the install and I had to force restart.

have a Samsung NP-QX411 Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. About two days ago or so some of my dialogs started missing text. (See attached images.)It's not just Windows related dialogs that are missing text. Some of my programs, such as Team Viewer and Advanced System Care, are also missing text while others such as Malwarebytes are not. Also, some Windows dialogs such as Task Manager and System restore are missing text but others such as Device manager are not.I have tried updating all my display drivers directly from the Samsung website but nothing seems to be working. I want to try a system restore but, as you can see in my posted image, I cannot even run System Restore because there is no text for me to see what I am doing. I deleted the partitions and created new one. At the same time I was cleaning games and apps I was not using. As I was browsing trough the list of apps i noticed that the pop up box of Skype (when someone signs in) has bold font. I clicked and opened Skype to discover that the font there is bold as well. Then I saw it on Facebook actually every web page has a bold font now.. No scans or diagnostics showed up any problems.Halfway through the system restore the laptop crashed and restarted. I was then confronted with the error message "Bootmgr missing, press Ctrl+alt+del" I tried to boot the laptop using a recovery disc, however I get as far as the blue welcome screen and I get the error 0x4001100200001012 - the computer then restarts.I am not bothered about any of the data - I have backed it all up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having major problems with System Restore for my HP Pavilion Windows 7 Home Premium desktop PC. Here's what happens - If I try and create a restore point I get Error 0x8004231F insufficient storage space for shadow copy. RAM is over 800 megs. There are no restore points and I cannot create any more either. I also get these errors from time to time when trying to system restore - Error 0x80073AFD and Error 0x8000FFFF Missing MUI File(s) but what MUI Files are missing or how I can find them and reinstall the damned things it does not tell me! I use Norton SS and various other security software.
One other post here suggested upgrading my Real Player which I did and although it's a nicer player and I like it better it did nothing to allow me to find my shadow copy pages or fix my restore points issue or even allow me to use system restore. I had a problem with Norton which came up with false readings under registry issues and an Error 2147212513 could not create a restore point in system restore. They did try and fix my PC and I think they screwed up system restore when they did but they of course deny it! What to do to get my system restore back up and running again and how to make it create restore points and how to do this shadow copy crap?
I'm trying to reload a windows xp sp3 system with 5 partitions. root partition (c:) has bcdedit.exe and store. z: is application store with bunch of batch scripts.A web application is hosted in Apache omcat on c:. One of the cgi script in web application calls a batch file on z: drive with following command.
BCDEDIT.exe /store c:ootcd ootsequence {UUID}
I'm getting following error
The boot configuration data tore could not be opened. A required privilege is not held by the client.
I do not see error, if command is run from command prompt with admin privilege. my web app is running under admin privileges.
I had to mess about getting rid of the virus but it left residual files that were causing me even more problems. One of those files, veawi.sys, refused to go away as everytime i tried to delete it i would get a message stating that "a device attached to the system is not working" or something along that line.
Anyway, i tried to get rid of it by installing Windows XP to a USB hard drive that i have lying around so that i could use the command prompt to delete the file from the windowssystem32drivers directory. That didn't work as i would get the message "NTLDR is missing" and my Windows 7 installation wouldn't boot either as i'd get the message "Error loading operating system". To add insult to injury i found, after using the installion disc for Windows 7, that i could have just used the command prompt in the repair section of the disc which allowed me to get rid of the culprit file.
I've tried running the startup repair from the Windows 7 disc and it states that there are no errors found. For the first time in ages i'm stuck and i get the feeling that i'm going to have to reinstall Windows 7 all over again.
