Today I decided to get a new theme for my web browser (Firefox) so I did. I found one that I liked and downloaded it and installed it. At the same time I was cleaning games and apps I was not using. As I was browsing trough the list of apps i noticed that the pop up box of Skype (when someone signs in) has bold font. I clicked and opened Skype to discover that the font there is bold as well. Then I saw it on Facebook actually every web page has a bold font now.. Some other apps i use (Hamachi, Antispy, etc..) show up the same way.I want to say again that my dialog boxes, system windows and desktop icons are fine like they were. This appears in app windows. here are a few snaps
So my Windows looks absolutely normal, except in SOME programs I have a bold font problem that I can't get rid of. I've seem to have tried all the fixes that other people have posted on the web but I cannot fix this. Programs like Ventrilo have this problem, but no where in Windows does this problem exist. url... That is what my Ventrilo looks like. I've only seen this so far in this program and Valve Hammer Editor. url...
I have been applying different visual styles to my machine, and I recently applied one that had a small font, which I didn't really like.. So I deleted that font from my system fonts, and then reapplied the theme (I really like the theme, except for the font used). However, now I can't view some dialogs, like the windows sounds dialog for example, as you can see in the attached screenshot below. I imagine that somewhere in the visual style, the size of the font is enlarged, so as the accomodate the supplied, smaller, font. I don't know how to change it back.. I've tried applying different visual styles, and even the default visual style (through the Personalize dialog).Does anyone know how I can change the font back to the original size? [code]
After playing a game I noticed everything was bold or italicized. My Arial Regular appeared to be missing so I reinstalled that but everything is still messed up.
I have certain files and folders that I would like to distinguish from others, without creating a new folder. (I have enough folders as it is.) Is there a way to make individual file name fonts look different than others (bold, color, italics, etc)? I would prefer not to use a 3rd party file manager: I read that if a file is compressed, the file name turns blue. If it is not possible to do what I am asking above, is there any downside to compressing the files I wish to distinguish, so their file names will turn blue?
I'm having a problem with copy and paste - I copy a bold face sentence and it is pasted non-bold face and sometimes it pasted with different space settings?Reload the Word program?
I suddenly started seeing this ugly font (see images below) on many webpages.I think this issue began right around the time I installed some other fonts, but I am not sure. Initially, I figured it was a Chrome thing but have since confirmed the issue extends to IE and Firefox, leading me to believe this is a Windows issue. By the time I tried to revert the changes via System Restore, it was too late (restore only went back a few days; maybe I need to adjust settings there?).I tried to reset the default font but Windows does not seem to respond to that. When I click "Restore to default font settings" the button greys out but nothing else happens. No dialog box and no change in the issue.
I deleted a few fonts from my font folder the other day and it seems that a few OS fonts were deleted in the process. Usually Ive got a message saying something along the lines of "this is a OS font" or "in use".Question:I noticed that my default calculator font is missing and was curious if anyone knows what font the calculator uses. I got a substituted font from the deleted one, but it looks terrible. If nobody knows the above.I went into a font deletion frenzy because I had some non-OS fonts that made my font list bulky and it took a while to scroll to the more used fonts. So I deleted some to combat this. Photoshop loads a lot faster as well due to less fonts(my little takeaway tip from all this)

If nobody knows the above. Then would anyone happen to know how to change the calculator font?

Is there a way I can revert to the Vista style of listing in Documents and other folders? I find the Win 7 set up too spaced out for easy reading. A straight printed list is far quicker to read through. Somewhere I seem to recall that I could change to Classic View but was that only for Vista? [code]
I'm just looking for advice on running Windows 7 Professional inside a virtual machine. I'd like to know what kind of performance I can expect from the following applications and others of their class.
Capture One (http://www.phaseone.com/en/Software/...-Overview.aspx) Adobe CS5 (Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, Flash) Microsoft Office 2010 Sony Vegas Games requiring DirectX 9+
Basically, I'm done with malware, long boot times, and huge system overhead and would like to switch to Ubuntu for my everyday computing, web surfing, writing, media consumption, etc. and fire up Windows in a VM only when I absolutely need it. As the list above implies I do lean pretty heavily on the processor and video card when I'm working or playing, and I'm wondering how Virtual Box would handle it.

I have a very odd problem that happened out of the blue. W7 Home Premium 32 bit, no viruses or recently installed programs. As you can see in the screenshots, theres that "icon" that says the OS doesn't recognize the program. MANY of them
My Gateway runs great until a restart is requested by me or a program. A few days ago, it would restart just fine.
When I select Restart, the computer appears to shut down fine, it beeps to restart, the Windows 7 screen begins to open but it freezes with three colored dots on the screen. It always stops in exactly the same place.
If I kill power, then boot again I get an offer for Windows to repair itself. If I let it, it cannot repair. If I select Boot Windows Normally, all is well. I can't tell there are any issues. Except for this one problem, things are really running well. Odd.
I've run Chkdsk, SFC/ SCANNOW, and PC Pitstop Optimize3. Nothing finds a problem or fixes anything.

I have an SSD drive mounted as a secondary master on my motherboard that has lost performance. I did have some things on the drive that I ended up deleting because load times were painfully long. I did not format the drive using the format options in Windows as I know this further degrades performance for SSDs, but there is nothing on the drive at all right now.
My question is, is there a way to secure erase the drive while still inside Windows? All the info I've found regarding secure erasing a drive has to to with having to boot the computer with some disc (insert title), unplugging the sata cable to the drive and plugging it back in, running said program, and erasing the drive. I understand this if the drive is the Primary Master and Windows is to be installed on the drive, but this is not the case for me.
Is there a way to do this inside Windows since its a secondary drive, meaning Windows is on a completely different drive, or is there a program or something for SSDs where you can restore performance inside Windows.
I have a Windows 7 Home Premium OS installed on an LG laptop - original windows that came with the laptop.A few weeks ago my HD crashed, I sent the laptop for a warranty repair. The HD was replaced and Windows re-installed. Since then i receive a message every few hours saying that my windows is not genuine.[CODE]
I have Windows 7 Home Premium edition. Whenever I go into the Recycle Bin to permanently delete files, when I right click, it freezes up and gives me the message "Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working" then it proceeds to "Windows Explorer Is Restarting" Now I can delete files just fine when I'm on the desktop and simply right click, and choose Empty Recycle bin off of the Recycle Bin icon.

i have this win 7 system listed above, BUT, i just loaded the win XP mode (shell) virtual PC program yesterday and made it work fine. i even loaded the norton and firefox, just fine. Today i went to use it and the first thing i went to do was change my original dorky password. in the 'change password' window, i typed my old password and then hit 'enter', which i thought would make the password into a 'blank' enter key.
Previously I have installed Windows XP then Windows 7 in different drives of my computer. Later installed Ubuntu 10.10 inside Windows 7 and upgraded it to 11.04.After that Accidentally I have formatted Windows XP drive from Ubuntu. I installed XP again to the same drive. I tried to repair Windows 7 and it worked fine, but the problem is I can boot only Windows 7. I have used BCDEdit tool to add entry to boot menu. This also worked fine that I am able to boot both Windows 7 & Windows XP.Now I want to boot Ubuntu 11.04 also using already installed partition.I don't want install it again(as I have to update it to 11.04 again).I have Windows XP in C drive, Windows 7 in D drive and Ubuntu 11.04 in E drive.
I'm trying to resolve an issue involving a bunch of "illegitimate" Windows Live streams (discovered in a Stream Armor scan). In trying to resolve the issue, I've deleted several leftover Windows Live files and registry entries (after making a backup) that weren't removed when I uninstalled Windows Live a few months ago.For whatever reason, the files won't leave the recycle bin, and the streams are still active.I looked inside $Recycle.Bin and found that there's a locked Recycle Bin inside it. Is this normal? Can I delete it? How?
I took my laptop in to Best Buy because I was getting a message that the computer cooling system was not working properly and then the computer would shut down.Best Buy said I need to have the inside cleaned of dust.
have a Samsung NP-QX411 Laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. About two days ago or so some of my dialogs started missing text. (See attached images.)It's not just Windows related dialogs that are missing text. Some of my programs, such as Team Viewer and Advanced System Care, are also missing text while others such as Malwarebytes are not. Also, some Windows dialogs such as Task Manager and System restore are missing text but others such as Device manager are not.I have tried updating all my display drivers directly from the Samsung website but nothing seems to be working. I want to try a system restore but, as you can see in my posted image, I cannot even run System Restore because there is no text for me to see what I am doing. I am normally really good at fixing computers
how can i add a font to the program? the one i want to use is not included. idownloaded the right one, installed it on the computer, so it works in otherprograms, but it's not showing up in dvd maker.
I can't open any files in any Office or OpenOffice program going through File>Open. I can double-click a file within a folder and it will open fine.
I don't have this issue in any other program that I regularly use. Just anything Office or OpenOffice. Here is an image of what I wind up with if trying to attach an image in Outlook. In Outlook I cannot attach a file to an email or Save an attachment. I can double-click in Outlook to open an attachment.
Anyone run into this type of issue before or any suggestions of where I can even begin to look to resolve?
