trying to get some help solving an issue my PC is having. I am getting constant blue screens and need to diagnose the problem, but I cannot access my minidump files. I have tried moving them to other folders and also tried using the "take ownership" command. Yet still I cannot get the files to open. I can't open them in wordpad/notepad or even the WINdebugger. I was hoping someone might know how to access the files.
I've tried to do my research on this and I've done a LOT of troubleshooting so far. For the past 6 months, I have been getting BSOD about 3 times a week at complete random times. It mostly occurs overnight when I'm asleep. I have tried deactivating all hibernate and sleep functions with no luck. I have tried three different anti-virus softwares and am now using Microsoft Security essentials. I have tried various settings for creating a minidump file with NO luck but I think I might know why. My BSOD is a Kernel data inpage error, stop code 0x0000007A, The sys file is lists 80% of the time is volgrx.sys but I've also seen an NTFS.sys listed.
I have been encountering BSOD's for the last few months. I try to use the SF Diagnostic Tool but the tool says "No Dump Found." I looked at the "windows" folder, there were none. How can I configure the system to create minidump files after BSOD?
Getting several BSOD events. When I try to zip up the files for loading I get access denied. I changed the registry to take ownership to each file, but still not able to zip up using 7 Zip.
I used BlueScreenView to check what was the cause of the multiple BSOD's i was always getting and it turns out it is ntoskrnl.exe. However, i cannot zip the minidump .dmp file to upload and I cannot view the file's contents at all either.
I have encountered BSOD many times and I am not sure what has caused this. Can someone please check the minidump files for me since I do not know how to read them myself.
I was wondering, exactly when will windows 7 begin writing to the hard disk, instead of the RAM?Is it when all of the RAM is "In Use" or could it happen even if only some is "in Use" and the rest of the RAM is on "Standby", as according to the resource monitor?
Cant boot a Windows 7 64 bit. I am trying to know if it is a driver or sys file involved. Is there an .iso available that will boot into linux or something and can open a minidump file? I see there is a 200MB downloadable MS file............ rather involved......
I'm trying to transfer files from an older laptop that should go into App Data\Roaming, but I get a popup that I can't write there. I've changed the file attribution to uncheck Read Only for the file and its subsequent files and folders, but still canot write to, or even get to, the Roaming part of the tree.
My new Lenovo T520 is behaving weirdly. It just randomly started happening on the evening of the 14th, and has continued since. My computer turns on, and everything loads, but then it just siezes up. I was able to open Task Manager, it shows my CPU Usage at 0%, and my memory usage at about 40% with 70 processes running. Opening up Resource monitor, under disk, i shows my disk is constantly reading and writing. At first there was an SVCHost that was constantly reading - Superfetch, so I disabled this. I saw improved performance for one day. I did a system restore back to 3 days ago, and saw performance improvement once again for 1 day. I removed everything from startup, and turned off as many services as I could. Under device manager, in the driver section, I found an error with the Security something driver (I cannot remember exactly, and my computer will not let me browse anywhere) so I uninstalled this driver. (I was going to update it in safemode, but it will not let me) In the system event log, ever since the 15th, I am seeing lots of events, these events were for Computer Browser services not starting - services which I did not disable. (Maybe I did, but I set all services I turned off to Manual not Disabled, so it should have started when it was called).
I'm experiencing random overnight crashes, always similar to below minidump (below) results (iastor.sys is implicated) but cant figure out what brought it to this point. System is up to date, iastor.sys hasn't changed since 2/1/2012. Ran Malwarebytes and Norton360 scan. System is clean otherwise.

I have recently built a new PC (about a month ago), but I'm continuing to get BSOD randomly. I did have two HDD in my PC and the BSOD were more frequent, but since reducing to one HDD over a week ago, I have just received another BSOD. My biggest problem is that, every time my PC BSOD, it doesn't leave a Minidump for me to analyse. It appears that most of the time the BSOD is displaying KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR and either volmgrx.sys or nfts.sys.

I've been experienceing crashes with my computer for a while and have been ziping my minidump files and putting them on a fourm but now the minidump file has a lock icon on it. It also wont let me zip the dump files anymore. I tried changing the permissions of the users but when ever i change anything from alow or deny it says access denied.
Suffers from a repeating BSOD. Unfortunately I reinstalled Windows (win7 x86 sp1) before thinking to package up the minidumps. However, when installing Office the computer conveniently bsod'd, hence the uploaded minidump.I'd be grateful if someone would take a look at it for me - let me know if you need more information regarding the system. All I know is that it's a brand new install, and isn't likely to be due to graphics hardware, as both the current gfx card (AMD hd5450) and the old (an older AMD/ATI graphics card) both suffered from BSODs. Additionally, I've run a pass of Memtest and of Prime95, without any errors reported
my DVD writer suddenly stopped reading and writing DVDs and CDs, however there is power to the dvd drive, all the connections are working and i can eject the drive using windows explorer. Any advice an what to do.I all ready used Microsofts Fixit application but it said that the problem could not be fixed.
The past few weeks she has been getting frequent BSODs, usually three or four a day: KERNEL_DATA_IMPAGE_ERROR.While I know enough to view this using BlueScreenView, I'd like to know how to interpret it
I have been getting a BSOD when playing civ 5 and my computer will not create a minidump file! I followed all of the steps in the guide on how to make your computer create a minidump file. Is there any other way to get it to create one?
I've spend the last week scouring Windows 7 Forums finding dozens of people with this issue. At random times, during use or idle, the computer goes blank and reboots.Starting from a clean install of an OEM copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a formatted HDD
1. Updated all drivers for my devices for Windows 7 2. Loaded and installed all current Windows Updates 3. Flashed and updated the BIOS 4. Ran the driver Verifier, did not see any errors reported 5. Tried to run sfc /scannow, system reboots when the scan gets to about 60% (tried twice) 6. All non-necessary devices (printer, external HDD, etc.) are disconnected.
I would attach a minidump file but there isn't one. I've got the system set to record one but it's not there. I have the view set to display all hidden files/folders. I've done searches for *.dmp files and typed in the address I've got set in the options ... no dice.I never get the BSOD, I have it set to not automatically reboot. It still goes blip and restarts anyway. There's no real pattern to the restarts but it loves to do it in the midst of installations.I've held off running a memory test simply because all my fellow sufferers keep reporting no errors in the memory and any time I do anything time consuming it fails when the system goes blip again. [CODE]When Im in network connections and I right click either my lan or wireless connection the context menu appears but there is no writing in it. Whenever I try some downloaded .exes I get an error saying 'error writing to temp location' or something similar. I've tried running them as admin, tried running them without UAC, and even tried to change the temp location from environment variables but it doesn't change. Is there any fix or an installer file I can download and reinstall to fix the microsoft installers? (win7 x64)
i'm recently having some bsods while attempting to download some files on my second hard drive, primary i have an corsair gt 128mg ssd and secondary is a samsung hd103sj 1Tb. Assume I work currently with MS Word and/or an text editor like wordpad. Then (suddenly) the system crashes with bluescreen.A Minidump is automatically created and saved in a Minidump file. After restart I am asked whether I want to send this minidump for further investigation to MS.Hmm, I wonder whether this Minidump file contains the full memory content. And if the memory content contains the current MS Word resp. current open file if editor. Both could contain sensitive business information which I don't want to pass outside. Is this the case
I am trying to move my thumbnails cache from my SSD to a ramdrive, to stop excessive writes and also speed up the cache.I am using Dataram Ramdisk, and have moved FF cache, IE cache and temp files, and user TEMP and TMP files (but not system TEMP and TMP, which I moved to a HDD) so far.Moving the thumbnails cache is a bit more tricky, but should be doable using junction.
Lately I've been getting Japanese kana (I think) substituted for english characters in some song titles in Windows Media Player, Nero, and PowerToGo CD ripping software. It seems the computer thinks I want Japanese, where available, for the extended info it gets for music CD's. So if I put in a CD to rip, say, Mozart's Magic Flute opera, the London Records Solti/Vienna Phil version, WMP will show track info in kana characters, like this:, or somethine kanji, like this:I can't seem to figure out why it's doing this. Also, lately WMP library has begun substituting other cover art for various albums, so one particular album cover photo appears on lots of unrelated albums. Don't know if that's related, but WMP seems to be a POS
I have a DJ mixer that houses a very nice firewire audio card. Unfortunately the company refuses to release x64 drivers for it, and it doesn't look like that's going to happen either as they've just discontinued the unit.I'm a software engineer by trade, and I know with enough effort I can craft my own. Trouble is, it's a whole new field for me to explore and I don't really know where to start. I've read through the Windows Driver Development Kit here: About the Windows Driver Kit (WDK)and also read up how windows USB drivers were hacked for the Xbox Kinnect: Hacking the Kinect - How to hack USB device drivers both have given me some great ideas, but I don't want waste time barking up the wrong tree, so to speak.
