windows 7 never finishes loading. sometimes i get the desktop with all icons but the mouse pointer has the loading icon and i can't do a thing. other times i only get the background image and the start bar but again, i can't do a thing. all this started after i had to force-shutdown my laptop after it froze while i was watching a maximized Internet video on firefox 4... what can i do?
View 3 RepliesI did a clean install of Windows 7 64bit Enterprise Edition. Downloaded the IE9 offline installer i.e. IE9-Windows7-x64-enu.exe but was never able to install it. The error is:"Internet Explorer did not finish installing. For more information, see the Internet Explorer Troubleshooter. This link is also on your desktop for later reference." The OS came with IE8 as default, the interesting thing is that when I go to Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off, I see IE9 there not IE8 ! As I said I was never able to install IE9. Things I tried:-Removed IE8 from Turn Windows Features on or off, rebooted, tried installing IE9 cleanly-Tried in Safe Mode with and without networking-Turned AV/firewall off-Run in CMD sfc /scannow-Tried Windows Update, but it never comes up as an update-Checked Programs and Features > View Installed Updates, not there also-Run the Windows Install Cleanup Tool-Tried installing using Windows Clean boot-Run Windows Update Readiness Tool from MS but found no errors

So basically my problem is what is stated in the topic already.Windows loads the data off of the ORIGINAL (purchased it today) DVD, extracting files etc.Then after the Computer restarts and loads, the installation process comes back up again, and shows the "moving dots" behind "Finishing Installation Process" for about 10-15 seconds, then they freeze... i left it for 2 hours. Nothing happened.I tried unplugging everything during the reset, after another try to install it. It freezes.I tried the "Shift+F10" --> explorer.exe . It freezes.I tried a downloaded copy of Windows 7 Prof.... same thing, it freezes.I tried 3 different Sata2 HDDrives, same thing it freezes.
I've had this issue on two builds now (issue came out the blue on the first build and assumed, wrongly of what part had broken), upon the final part of the install where the installer states finishing install the monitor goes blank (no cursor etc) in the same manner as during a graphics driver install however it fails to return to the rest of the install, occasionally if left blank for long enough and the system is restarted it will boot up and into windows. However upon installing the ati drivers for my radeon 4870x2, and restarting, windows will then hang on the loading windows logo and not progress further. I have read on the forums that this may be due to the power supply, however the power supply is of a different model (850w XFX Black Edition), however i have only had this power supply a small amount of time as i bought it to replace a corsair psu that died on me. Across the builds I have swapped (and tested in other machines) every part except the hard drives and the power supply and have experienced the same issue. After approximately 5-6mins of the loading windows logo it displays a quick blue screen then restarts. Current build specs are: ASUS M4A88T-M motherboard4 gig of corsair xms 3 ramradeon 4870x2and athlon 2 x3 (3.2ghz) Just wanting a second opinion before i splash out on another power supply.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, heres the deal, I have been trying to install windows 7 on this pc for awhile now, I cannot figure this problem out no matter how hard I try.
The installation goes fine up until 'finishing installation' when which the screen just goes black and never does anything, ever overnight.
After restarting it will goto the logo screen and then just load onto a black screen, again never doing anything further.
Finally, when attempting to access safe mode, it loads up to classpnp.sys and then freezes.
Now, I have tried many many things to fix this and done lots of Googling but nothing has worked, other versions of Windows install and work fine.
Things tried...
1. swapping video cards
2. Switched monitors (I have read there can be an issue relating to this with needing a VGA plugged in however my card does not offer VGA, nor do I have onboard video.
3. Multiple installs of diff win 7 versions
4. Bios tinkering and restoring defaults.
5. many other things...
If someone could somehow help figure this out, then well I would be really appreciative...
I bought this laptop on 1-7-12 from best buy with the geek squad setup (laptop i wanted but they only had it with the set up). I have been trying to use the factory partition on the hard drive to restore back to the factory setting but it stalls at a number of certain points. If I start windows normally it stalls at "Setup is Starting services screen" it never freezes completely it just never progress after 2 hours. I also had it freeze at installing new devices 46%. It also has failed at the "Factory Installation in progress do not operate..." I know this process restarts the computer multiple time but after one of the restarts it came up with a very big error text with red coloring. I have used the geek squad restoration discs also and it got caught up on the same points.

After a long wait it will eventually display boot from cd/. When I boot from my windows dvd my os is not shown in system recovery. I did test these sites on my iPhone with no problems though. There are a handful of other sites that do open but do not load properly [missing images, ect.] I also thought that it might be malware but I installed & scanned my computer with four different programs which did not solve the problem. I'm guessing that it still may be some problem on the software side with settings but I can't seem to figure out where to look. BTW, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus program for the past couple of days now. Prior to that I was using Avira but it seemed to be giving me problems so I uninstalled it and installed the Microsoft app.
View 8 Replies View RelatedUntil yesterday I had two different versions of Windows installed on two different hard drives, one on C: and one on E:. Yesterday I decided to remove the one on E: and started using CCleaner to just wipe the drive clean. I stopped in the middle and decided to format the disk instead because it was going to take a few hours using CCleaner's wipe. But by then Windows was having trouble with that drive and although it was detected, I couldn't format it or do anything to it for that matter.So I downloaded a copy of Natty and running it from the disk, I was going to try formatting it from there, but it was not detecting that drive. Fine. I understand there is a way to mount the drive and I just have to figure that out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have read a lot on this getting stuck. I had an issue with it getting stuck, so I had HP to send me the recovery disks and I backed everything up and did a clean install. It did its thing and now it is at the Windows is loading files screen. Bad news is, it has been on this screen since last night at around 8:00 (12 hrs), Good news is, it has been moving. I put a sticky note on the progress bar, even this morning it has moved about a half an inch. Should I be worried or just patient? It said it may take up to 3 hours and it has been 12 hours.

The problem used to come and go but it annoyed me so I gave my laptop to lenovo customer care service. They advised me to restore my OS and I did the same but to no avail. The problem still persisted. Then I went again to a different lenovo customer service and they updated my BIOS and tweaked it. It worked good for about 12 hours or so.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.It was working fine yesterday but sometime this morning it started hanging up. Basically what happens is the username screen comes on, I click the user, then it makes the little chime.I can see the recycle bin, I can access the start menu but I can't do anything after that. My network connection icon in the task bar freezes for about 3-4 minutes.During that time I'm unable to open any program until it connects. After that, everything works fine.All I've installed today was a windows update, an updated driver for my Networking card, and GWFL client. I was overclocking my CPU also, but since I'm troubleshooting this, I rolled it back to the default settings.I've uninstalled GFWL, and I've rolled back to the previous drivers and it still does this.

I also followed some tips to system restore and what not in Safe Mode but that still doesn't work. I'm currently typing this problem in Safe mode with Network but that's the thing.I'm able to load into Windows but not in a normal way.I'm having a suspicion that my HD cache might have messed up. Also the same happens on XP machines and Windows 7 machines. I don't recall seeing this before. It just happened in the last 6 months or so (I think). Anyways, I start the computer, log on to an user account and the startup programs start to load. It is at this point that a message appears that states that the firewall is turned off. It usually last for 10 to 20 seconds and then the firewall is turned on again. It does not happen every time I start the computer (just once a day or so). Shouldn't the firewall be the first thing to load or is there a delay with a warning message?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm in the Midwest and thunderstorms are quite common out in this area. To protect my computer from power surges, I turn off BOTH my computer and the power supply. Then I unplug the surge protector from the socket which the computer and other peripherals are attached to. However, this morning when I plugged back the surge protector, turned on the PSU and then computer, Windows gave me a message the there was no virtual disk and then it went to a blank screen and got stuck there.

Anyhow, it would eventually boot up, all though one time I got a BSOD Stop: 21C error.For the past 3 days, no sound is coming out of my speakers. All of a sudden it is coming out of my HDMI monitor instead, I went and bought new speakers because I thought they had died. It is still doing it though. I have Dell XPS 15. I shut it down normally and then tried to switch it on.. but it is hanging up and getting Windows is loading files after the progress bar. I tested the memory tests and it has passed the test saying now error found with your memory.
