View 9 RepliesI am having a problem with my computer to where I can't load windows without my computer unexpectedly shutting down. I just got a new video card and did not load drivers for it. I just plugged it right in. I am thinking this might be the cause. I tried booting using my other video card and it still did not work though and those are the correct drivers that I had before. I have tried another power supply, ran a memtest, reapplied thermal paste and reseated my cooler. I have also tested a different hard drive and still the same thing. I do not have integrated graphics on my mobo so I cannot boot from my motherboard for a display. The green light for my motherboard is still on so I'm thinking that's not the problem.
Specs: motherboard Asus p5nd
Processor intel q9300 quad core
video card gtx 460 (old one is a 8800gt)
I have a question regarding the install of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I've done this on one HDD successfully and due to conflicts with additional software I wish to reinstall Windows 7 on a completely new HDD (on the same machine). This way I can keep both programs separate also leaving me with an additional OS in case the other fails. I plan to use the BIOS to switch to the other drive (boot order) when I wish to use the other software on occassion. I plan on backing up my files onto an external drive. So my question is as such, can I load Windows 7 onto a separate drive and switch the drive of which to boot from to achieve my goal?
View 9 Replies View Relatedmy computer started freezing on on the windows loading screen, so i had to turn my computer off again, wait a few seconds and start it agin, it then worked on the second time. i couldnt get into any kind of safemode.when i got into windows i had loads of generic win32 errors, i couldnt acess the internet or any anti spy/virus programs. i shut it down and it hangs so i have to manually swith it off.i was on xp so i thought i would format my computer and install windows 7. This has helped with all the win32 errors but my computer still freezes on start up at the windows loading screen and still requires me to swith it off and restart it, this works most of the time. might have to do this 2 or 3 times.i have looked in the events viewer and it says i have 3 errors: error 6 kernel process power / restart manager.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my laptop and am having multiple problems. The HDD is formatted completely empty.
1. When attempting to use the Reinstallation DVD from Dell, the DVD boots and the progress bar moves that says "Windows is loading files," then the computer restarts and it is stuck in an infinite loop.
2. When attempting to use a copy of Windows 7 on a USB drive, the drive boots up until you see the cursor to begin the reinstallation process, then the computer restarts and it is stuck in an infinite loop.
3. When attempting to use a Windows XP DVD, it starts the setup process, and then I get error: STOP: 0X0000007B (0XF78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)
I have been able to boot command line Linux distros (haven't tried any graphical distros) without any problems. Dell instructed me to run diagnostics on everything, and everything passed, so it doesn't seem like there are any apparent hardware issues. I tried pulling the battery and just using the power cord and also removing one of the sticks of RAM and attempting installation, but I have the same problems.

This is a brand new Acer Aspire x1430g desktop. I cannot get some microsoft websites to load and windows live messenger will not sign in. Is it possible that Windows 7 is not compatible with my Westell 327 router/modem? Is there a setting that needs to be changed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently built a new computer and only had 2 SATA cables, so I had my SSD and HDD plugged in. This morning I went to plug my dvdrom in. I realized my HDD was plugged into a SATA2 port so I switched it to the SATA3, and plugged the dvdrom into the SATA2 port. I was always told it isn't a problem. A few hours later. I get bluescreened (happens every couple of days). But then I get a disk read error ~20 min later... I don't know if it matters, but then my main program crashes ~15 min later. After reloading it, ~15 later again, I get thick vertical *fuzzy plaid-like* lines and comp freezes. Restarted and now I'm experiencing where my computer freezes within a minute or two, with those huge vertical block lines. (I've seen similar when someone overclocked their GPU too high) I am not even running apps, just turning it on and this happens... Haven't done updates in several days. System is in my sig. I didn't build it, my tech-savvy friend installed everything. Windows 7 64-bit.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy laptop belonged to my brother and had very little use, he gave it to me and i put norton security on it, whenever i load a site with a few pictures it freezes and a message on the bottom of the screen says loading an ad (not always the same one, a few different ones). i don't use the computer a lot, mainly i like to check the news (used to anyway) but now it just freezes and i cant click on anything. sometimes if i start it up and shut it down a few times it does work but this is very time consuming. also ebay does not work, just freezes when i click on a picture. strangely enough my son likes Internet and this works perfectly, you can view videos with no interruptions.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my computer, one year of age, started to stop loading at the windows loading screen. Last week, O was on my computer browsing the net and listening to music when I click on a button in iTunes and the computer crashes. I restart the computer but when it gets to the starting windows loading screen, it loads for a little bit like normal, but then the screen flashes black and the monitor says it loses signal and stays disconnected. The computer stays running even when the screen says there is no signal.
So I think for a bit and decide to just reload windows because my computer was starting to get cluttered anyway. So I reinstall windows without a problem and the computer runs fine for the weekend and Monday. But this morning it started to do this all over again.
I ran the windows repair disk and it told me that there is a device plugged in that should be unplugged and restart. But I had nothing plugged in so I tried unplugging almost everything short of the power cable and monitor, but still no luck.
Yesterday I left my pc running, and when I came back, found a black screen.Rebooting, I came across some random characters in the POST and also in BIOS, after which, the same black screen. I googled this, removed the video card and the bios and post look normal now( i use the onboard video), but when trying to load windows, the pc reboots.I tried system repair, chkdsk. When trying to boot in safe mode, it loads up to "AtiPcie.sys", then reboots.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI've run into a problem recently with my computer. I haven't played any games since early in the year and, if I remember correctly, haven't installed or changed anything much since then. But when I went to boot up Sims 3 for my cousin it repeatedly crashed while on the loading screen. I put this down to their awful patches and typically buggy games. But I today I went to start Skyrim and the same thing happened.
As soon as the loading screen finished my computer switched off and restarted. This happens repeatedly - I cannot get further than the loading screen without my computer restarting. I've played both of these games without any issue in the past year. I've since cleaned out the inside of my PC, updated the BIOS and drivers, and monitored the temperatures for the CPU and GPU. Everything seems normal.
My specs are:
Intel Core i7 950
Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit
Asus P6TD Deluxe
AMD Radeon HD 6800
4GB RAM
My hubby is running Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit on an Emachines PC.
Intermittently picture thumbnails and program icons will suddenly stop showing up and will turn to only blank white icons. (Sometimes it affects a few files or the whole folder) You can see the thumbnails one minute, go out and back into the directory, and they are gone. Refreshing the folder view does not bring the thumbs back.
Going into other folders is fine and thumbnails show, but once it fails on a particular folder, it will continue to NOT show thumbs or icons for that folder until a restart is done. We have also tried to clean the thumbnails cache to no avail. This problem happens on all drives, flash drives, network drives, local drives, etc...)
There is one other bug that may be related. Sometimes his My Computer will not load. He can get to My Documents etc... but My Computer hangs forever until he restarts. It is an intermittent problem as well so hard to debug.
I am having trouble with my laptop. It says I am connected to the internet, but whenever I open a browser( Chrome, Firefox or IE) it doesn't open any web pages. I get the message "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection". And it's not the router because we have another laptop in the house connected to the same router and it works fine. I have a Lenovo V570. Also my laptop works fine on other connections and routers, just for some reason doesn't accept this one.

The reason why I ask is if it copies the product key aswell we could be in some serious trouble with the auditors.Branching off from my last question, is there anyway to assign a computer name and issue the pc a domain when the image is loading? Or is this not possible?
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy computer started laggin really bad, couldnt even move mouse without major lag. Anyways so i got sick of it and reinstalled windows 7 64 bit, now my computer gets stuck at loading operating system. Thought it was SSD so took it out and put in a 500gp wd hard drive (I know it works fine, becuase had it run on company server all week before i used it) so then i installed it on their and still was stuck so then i took out my other 500gb wd hard drive where i store all my files, just so i could make sure that my OS can only install on one item and not be corrupted by any other drives. So now the problem still presit and i have tried resetting my bios by taking out battery for 10 min, still no results, so then i ran startup repair (Had no hope) and it still didnt work. Need help and bellow I will post all my hardware, by the way my computer is a custom build and has been working fine for 2-3 months. Also I do overclock, but i doubt that had anything to do with it, because it started to lag weeks after i started overclocking. [code]
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a virus that would redirect me to advertising, and it wouldn't let me scan for it on any anti virus software. No spyware worked, so I decided to load a new windows 7 on my laptop, fresh start. But as it got to the end of the installation where the menu said completing, it sat like that for 3 hours, so I turned it tooff, and now it keeps loading into the same thing that saids "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an un expected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart computer< and then restart installation", I click ok, and it just keeps restarting into the same menu.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the last 2 days, my computer has been restarting whenever I loaded a level in a video game. Event Viewer shows Kernel Power critical errors (41, task 63). Basically, the error says something about insufficient or unstable power supply or whatever. I have a Corsair VX450 which is around 3 years old. I have a Geforce GTS 250 GPU, running at decent temps. My Q6600 also has good temps, so I think we can rule temps out as the source of the problem.
I will elaborate a bit more about the symptom: When a level is done loading and I hit START or whatever to start playing the level, that is, when the GPU kicks in, the PC reboots. I do have two audio drivers installed - one for the build in sound card and another for the non-built in one. I need them both, and I've had them both installed and running simultaneously since day one of using this PC. I did disable the built in one's driver, though. Is it possible that my PSU is no longer able to supply my GPU with the required power?
Just build a new desktop and while loading up the windows 7 disk, it froze on the Windows is loading files screen. White bar went all the way across once and then freezes.

View 7 Replies View RelatedOne particular site that is not loading at all, on any browsers on my computer is [URL]. There are many more that fail to load as well. I did test these sites on my iPhone with no problems though. There are a handful of other sites that do open but do not load properly [missing images, ect.] I also thought that it might be malware but I installed & scanned my computer with four different programs which did not solve the problem. I'm guessing that it still may be some problem on the software side with settings but I can't seem to figure out where to look. BTW, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus program for the past couple of days now. Prior to that I was using Avira but it seemed to be giving me problems so I uninstalled it and installed the Microsoft app.
View 8 Replies View RelatedUntil yesterday I had two different versions of Windows installed on two different hard drives, one on C: and one on E:. Yesterday I decided to remove the one on E: and started using CCleaner to just wipe the drive clean. I stopped in the middle and decided to format the disk instead because it was going to take a few hours using CCleaner's wipe. But by then Windows was having trouble with that drive and although it was detected, I couldn't format it or do anything to it for that matter. So I downloaded a copy of Natty and running it from the disk, I was going to try formatting it from there, but it was not detecting that drive. Fine. I understand there is a way to mount the drive and I just have to figure that out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have read a lot on this getting stuck. I had an issue with it getting stuck, so I had HP to send me the recovery disks and I backed everything up and did a clean install. It did its thing and now it is at the Windows is loading files screen. Bad news is, it has been on this screen since last night at around 8:00 (12 hrs), Good news is, it has been moving. I put a sticky note on the progress bar, even this morning it has moved about a half an inch. Should I be worried or just patient? It said it may take up to 3 hours and it has been 12 hours.
