View 1 RepliesI had purchased dell XPS15 with Windows 7 professional, where dell is no more providing os installation media i made a recovery disk.
First i want partition C: drive without formatting it. and then How can i install dual booting os with this recovery disk?
Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 System began to boot very slow, but after booting it worked fine. I scanned for virus and malware and found none. I then did a restore to a point before the problem and now the computer will not boot. I have tried to do a system recover from the hard drive and it goes though some loading and then a black screen with a cursor that I can move, but nothing to click on. I have two sets of recovery disk, one set made the day I bought the computer and another I made recently. I get the same results with the disk as when trying to recover from the hard drive.I have now install Linux Mint duel boot so that I can use my computer, but would like to get Windows working again.

"windows cannot be installed to this disk. this computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."I am also trying to run RAID 5 on this system, i have x4 1.5T HD.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a toshiba satellite C650 that has recently come up with a disk read error. I want to access the command prompt to try some potential solutions that I have read about on the internet. I have made a Windows 7 recovery disk using my other acer laptop which also has Windows 7 installed. When I use the recovery disk and it has loaded the files etc it just brings up a black screen and the cursor. I tried booting my acer laptop from the recovery disk and it worked fine. why I am getting the 'disk read error - hit ctrl, alt and delete to restart' message?
View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday , randomly , when I turned on the computer I saw nothing but a black screen. It wasn't the black screen of death , looked like a windows black screen but it just wasn't displaying anything. Its almost like windows is operating normally in the background , its just not showing me. When I put the disk in it comes up occasionally and works fine , but when I shut down and turn it back on its back to the same ole thing.
I have windows 7 home premium , 32-bit. I read somewhere that I may need to check the boot order , but I have no idea how to do any of this.
my windows 7 program will not boot up its ask to put in repair disk is there any other way to fix it myself? how much will it cost
View 3 Replies View Related[code] When I boot from it after the "Starting Windows" Screen I get BSOD and it says "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA".This is what I thought was important from the BSOD all the middle text says is disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing, and I have no idea how to do that and no idea if that would even fix this. Can this be caused from a faulty hard drive or is this a problem with the install disk itself.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI've recently built my new gaming pc. When I try to boot the windows 7 disk, it says, " reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" I've gone into the BIOS to make it boot from the disk drive, but to no avail. I'd love some help on this. I'm also quite the PC noob, this being my first build.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 over Vista yesterday (fresh install). I had to first recover the MBR which was annoying (I would've thought it would do this itself), but anyway..
Windows 7 started just fine.
However, when re-recovered the bootloader from Linux, and when I now try to boot into Windows, it goes straight to Windows system recovery. Any ideas how to stop this?
Clearly it's booting to the right partition in the right way (as it's going to windows), but Windows 7 seems to just not want to boot into normal mode. What should I do?
I'm doing an upgrade from 32 bit XP to 32 bit Windows 7 on a Dell Dimension 8300 desktop. I've run the upgrade advisor. The desktop has 2 hard drives and a RAID controller configured in Stripe(RAID 0). I bought the Windows 7 Home Premium family pack (3 installs) and did the XP to Windows 7upgrade on two laptops; so I think the disk is okay. When I start the upgrade for a clean install on the desktop I get a "f1 to retry boot f2 for setup" message from the BIOS indicating that it does not seem to recognize the Windows 7 install disk in the CD. I've check the CD reader and it seems to read the files without a problem. I can start the Windows 7 install within XP but that does not work for the clean install, I need to start from the boot. There is a second DVD ROM drive on the system but that does not work either.

Randomly, my computer is no longer able to boot from my OCZ Agility 3 SSD. By randomly, I mean it was working just fine this morning, but no longer. I can't remember if I changed or updated anything.
Well I then went and inserted the Windows 7 repair disk. A list pops up saying to select my OS, but nothing is listed. I selected load drivers, and I'm able to navigate to the ssd successfully and view all of the files. I even plugged it in to the computer I am using now and was able to back up the more important documents in case I will need to do a reinstall. (I would rather not though). The repair utility doesn't fix the problem, and I navigated this forum and many others trying to find similar problems to mine.
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Galaxy GeForce GTX 460
16 GBs Corsair RAM
I do have two other hard drives on the system that I use for general programs and another for raw video storage. They are disconnected now, so I don't see how they would affect the problem.
I have a server (HP Proliant ML350 G5) that has a hard disk with Windows 7 Enterprise and Ubuntu (I'll talk about that on UbuntuForums, though). I recently acquired a Dell Dimension 9150. I moved the hard disk from the server to the Dell. Now Windows won't boot. It gets as far as the OS selection. I select Windows 7 from the OS choices. I don't even get the Starting Windows screen. If I try Safe Mode, I get the driver loading screen, but nothing more than that. When I try Startup Repair, it hangs at "Loading Windows Files".I cannot re-install windows because of programs and admin tools found on that hard disk.
View 6 Replies View Relatedwindows 7 recovery disks and ssds. I bought a computer with the OS preinstalled on the ssd.
one day my ssd will run out of read/writes and it will have to be replaced. my question is, can I use recovery disks, or any other type of back-up software if the new ssd is not the same model as the current one (which will most likely be the case since we talking about 2+ years from now)?
I wanted to double check on the making of a recovery disk for a friends windows 7 64-bit laptop.I know you can go into Control Panel/System and Security/Backup and Restore. There are two options to choose from:1) Create a system image2) Create a system repair diskMy question is to verify that you should make both disks.Create a system repair disk gives you the recovery console items and Create a system image gives you an act of a Windows Installation CD, should you need to do a format and complete fresh install of Windows?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron M5110, I'm using windows 7 ultimate but the recovery Disk is driving me crazy, it keeps on bringing up the out of space warning and then it will only automatically clean up maximum of 2MB. I have read many forums about this and tried everything but nothing seems to work and keeps on filling up the free space automatically. It's affecting the computer's perfomance, it is stopping the internet pages from uploading properly, I cant chat or sign in to Skype, so basically the computer is useless to me except for intertainment. What can I do to solve this problem, I have run out of Ideas and I'm just an amatuer at computers.

I have a bootable usb drive with the windows installation disk that I want to use to run chkdsk on the drive. When I start the computer I get the usual "windows loading files" with grey status bar then the "starting windows" splash screen. Then the screen goes black and I can hear the mechanical drive spinning in my case.
why I can't get the installation/recovery disk to fully load? I have tried booting without the hard drive connected and I am able to get to the windows 7 recovery console running. Boot order is set to boot from usb first
I'm currently in India and cannot get the disk shipped here for obvious reasons. HP India does not have the recovery disks and suggested I contact HP USA. HP USA said that they cannot ship to India.
I know how to burn an iso and install the OS but the greater issue is how do I validate my windows my key mentioned on the windows coa sticker?
I was getting a 'disk read error occurred' so I decided to put in my recovery disk to do a startup repair. I hit F8 at the startup and chose my dvd drive, it loads the windows files, but then just hangs on the blue screen with just my cursor. After about 8min, my monitor shuts off.The disk doesn't look to be damaged. Is there an alternative to this problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIve been running Vista for a couple of years, until last night when the system decided to pack up and lose/corrupt half the sys32 folder. I'm using RAID-0 for my hard disks, so i ran the RAID setup, deleted the array and created a new one, striped, just like the previous, and then tried to run a Windows 7 setup i'd picked up from the office. Only problem is, even though i've been through the BIOS and told it to boot from disk as first priority, all i get is a screen that says "Windows is loading files", followed by a few seonds of "Starting Windows" before i get an error screen informing me that CI.dll is missing or corrupt (0xc0000098). My only two options from here are to run Windows Memory Diagnostic or try and boot again from the Windows Setup dvd, which i've tried in safe mode and every other available advanced boot option.
Edit: I just tried to run an XP setup disk i have lying around to see if i had the same problem, and i got an error saying that no hard drive was detected on my system. I checked the BIOS and under 'Standard CMOS Features' the SATA channels are all listed as empty, with only my IDE cd/dvd drive being recognised.
I am trying to recover my ASUS K52D Notebook PC to factory settings. I am currently running Windows 7 operating system. I do have the Driver & Utility Ver.1.0 disk, but I have lost the System recovery disk that was made by the store where I purchased my laptop from. I have tried recurring it using the partition file thing that's on my computer, but I received an error message. I am wondering, is there a way to recover my Notebook to factory settings without using the partition or the recovery DVD?
View 1 Replies View RelatedNo install disks, no manual just letter telling me to protect customer data entire drive was wiped clean including Recovery partition. Checked disk management it shows all 4 primary partitions used: 200mb (boot), 169gb (C drive), 281gb (D drive), 16.5gb Recovery partition. I tried F9 when booting (nothing) just boots into OS. This setup is completely useless to me. Called Asus ($50.) for install disk they said call Microsoft, call Microsoft ($99. new disk) they said call Asus, I've already paid for Win 7 once and i'll be damned if I pay for it again. Typical corporation bullshit. What I want to do is install Win 7 on 1st part, 2nd (shared NTFS part), Ubuntu on logical partitions.

I know there used to be away to retrieve the OS of the OEM CD and install it without the OEM apps/drivers/junk software. On my 2 recovery DVD, there are some WIM files starting with Base.dat thru Base5.wmi files. Can I just copy/burn those files onto a dvd and install it or is it more complex nowadays?
