Windows 7 Laptop Won't Start, Can't Install Any Other OS
Jan 5, 2013
Not to long ago my windows 7 laptop started to act up, Going real slow, about half an hour later i got tired of it, and restarted the thing, it then brought up a message telling me to check the disk or something, Doing this did nothing and it failed to start.after a few restarts that screen didn't come up and a new screen came up telling me a recent hardware change might of been the issue, I had no usbs, sd cards, or anything really connected to the pc. No problem, I thought i could just restore it to factory defaults, put in my repair disk and did just that, but it got stuck, at around 7% doing the restore over yielded the same result 7% every time.waiting 20 minutes did nothing. so i decided to run startup repair. Doing so brought up yet another error. saying startup repair could not repair this computer automatically.clicking show problem details said the problem event name was startuprepairoffiline. installing other os's either get stuck during the install or bring up a blue screen. the pc itself isn't making strange noises or anything, temperatures are normal.
My laptop freezes when i turn it on after a minute or two just enough time to maybe sign in but i can go into safe mode and it wont freeze but you cant do anything in safe mode that
i sent my laptop away to get fixed when I got it back it want start up and is saying that a "Change to software or hardware caused this error" and is asking for a installation or a recovery disc. but I never got one because my laptop came with windows installed allready
I have a 2 mo. old laptop. Windows 7 doesn't start for 15 min- sometimes less. When it times out it takes the same amount of time to get it back up again. I turn on the laptop, windows screen appears but no icon to open it to the desktop appears for several minutes. This repeats everytime the computer times out and goes into sleep mode. I'm pretty new at this and might be making a mistake somewhere.
This morning I tried starting it, the two options launch startup repair and launch windows normally were displayed. I clicked launch startup repair and after it said "loading files", it gave me a black screen for nearly 2 hours. Then I restarted and clicked launch normally. It took longer than usual, then took me back to the initial toshiba startup screen.I tried pressing f8 and booting in safe mode, but safe mode takes me back to the initial screen as well. I can't boot using last good configuration either. The laptop is about 2 years oldToshiba model # PSK2CU - 0QU01URunning Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bitunfortunately since it is not my computer, I do not possess more information besides what is on the label.
I have old Dell laptop XPS M140, and had windows XP as the OS (my laptop has been working fine). Then my husband installed and upgraded the OS to windows 7..it worked just fine for a weeklot until in the last few days, I turned on my laptop and it wont start up anymore.I saw this message 'windows error recovery'..windows failed to start. A recent hardware/software change might be the cause....then there're two options to choose : launch start up repair and start windows normally..I tried both options but the laptop still wont start up.I also got through system recovery options, then I got result :launch an internal error occurred. error : the system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003).
Whenever i reach the part when blue theme comes, the window do not pop up where i can choose languages etc.. So its just stay there without any error message.I've tested my DVD on other machines and it works fine.My PC: 880GM-UD2H , gtx460I've read other forums i should remove my videocard and try that way but nothing happens that way also.
Toshiba mini laptop NB255 with windows 7 crashes after each start up: after power on windows 7 is loaded (it takes for ever) but after few minutes laptop crashes and restarts.
I'm having trouble with my Laptop Toshiba Satellite C855-S5206 it has Windows 7.
MEMORY* 4GB DDR3 1333MHz memory HARD DRIVE* 500GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial ATA)
It takes like 5 to ten minutes to start and I've already tried to clean it with CCleaner and with the msconfig, and it did nothing. and it's just in the start and when it goes to sleep, but besides of that, the computer is running normal. Also I've the antivirus and I don't have any malware or virus
So the SMART program has warned me about an imminent hard drive crash for a while. Yesterday Windows was installing updates when my dad closed the laptop lid, when I come home afterschool today, I open the lid and it is frozen. Windows warns not to power off during the updates but since it is frozen I have no choice so I power it off. I have constantly getting BSODs, and have to do a system restore everyday so I was not too worried when it wouldn't start up. So i hit f11 when i turn on my computer and it takes me to the HP Recovery Manager, HOWEVER this time the option to do a System Restore was greyed out and I can't click it! I don't have working recovery CDs so what can I do about this?? My new hard drive is also coming in tomorrow, but i won't be able to replace my failing hard drive when my Pc can't even start up now, and I can't do a system recovery to fix it...
After window installed some new updates my dell laptop was not able to start. It will boot and go in the screen for Window failed to start. "A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. Launch Startup Repair or Start Window Normally." I tired both options but eventually leads back to this page. Then i tried to enter all the safe mode with no luck. I then tried "Last Know Good Configuration" but with no hope leading back to the same screen.
I was browsing the web and my laptop froze. I held the powe button to turn it off and now when i turn it on, it only goes to the windows logo and no farther. If i leave it alone, after 20 minutes it goes to a black screen with a cursor. I have tried starting in safemode as well and it only loads some of the files before freezing. I have also tried startup repair. After a few minutes it gives a few options such as system restore. I tried a restore and it still doesn't load.
I want to do a start up repair but only have a upgrade disk. When I try to do the start up repair and pick the OS on the hard drive it comes up with a error saying the os is not compatible even tho the upgrade was done from this disk. Can I do a start up repair or clean install without losing any software or personal files? This computer has no back up's.My reason for wanting to do a start up repair is yesterday when I woke up my computer from sleep mode the hard drive kept and is always accessing but the CPU was not really doing much so I had to wait and wait and waitIt will say a software is not responding then after a long wait time the file will open or a program will respond. To just open folder takes 5 min, open files 5+. re starting or starting from the off position takes about 15 min
My computer was having some problems every time I booted it up. Upon start up, I would receive an error message saying "windows failed to start, a recent hardware or software change might have caused the problem" and would give me some options to pick from like Safe Mode options and Start Normally. I would click "start windows normally" and my computer would boot up normally and run just fine. But every time I turn my computer off, I come back the next day with the same error message. I tried running the windows repair option but it would never find anything.
I decided I would just perform a clean install and just be done with it, but after doing that, I tried booting my computer to have the SAME error message. Same thing happens, I just click start normally and it works fine. It's just a total hassle to have to deal with this error message every time I try turning my computer on. Since I performed the clean install, I have very little things re installed to the computer like Java and what not. I wouldn't think it would be Java because I have had that the entire time I have owned the computer and only recently got the error messages.
i cant start my laptop in normal mode. when i start in normal ,mode i stuck in black screen only the mouse pointer is appear, when i wait it reboot again but still i get stuck in black screen
I have a desktop with Windows 7 & a 1TB HDD, and everything is on the HDD. If I want to add an SSD & put the OS & some programs on it is there an easy way to do that? Perhaps copying all the data folders to an EHD & then making an image of the stripped down HDD & restoring that to an SSD? And then putting the data folders back onto the HDD?Or do I have to start from scratch & re-install a fresh copy of Windows 7 to the SSD?
Just finished installing Win 7 64 bit on my Dell Inspiron 1545. It appeared the update was going along smoothly until it came time to reboot. After rebooting, the laptop showed that it was configuring Windows. Once the configuration was completed the system went into Startup Repair. Once completed and checking the Repair Details it shows a message indicating that ci.dll is corrupt. I was able to restore the computer to original state, but once I downloaded the 80 or so win 7 updates, I get the same problem.
how do I do a clean install of 64 bit windows 7 replacing 32 bit windows 7? I purchased a separate 64 bit disk. Before the Windows 7 32 bit, it was vista 64 bit, so the system is a 64 bit system. I just need to know how to get it going. When I insert the 64 bit disk, all it says is that it is incompatible. So what do I do?
So I had finally got my first build ever running a few hours ago. Was so excited. I used the program wintoflash to copy my windows installation cd to my flash drive. Popped the flash drive in my new rig and booted it up. It went to installation and took a bit of time to completely install. As it restarted after install the windows startup came up and was continuously going for quite some time and never stopped. So where I am at is that I cant get past the start up screen.
I have tried so much. I pulled out the second stick of ram, the gpu.. ran memory check with no errors, tried re installing windows in many ways (different partitions).I tried running in safe mode but it just gets stuck at disk. The only thing I knoticed is that windows 7 installs faster the second time around, even after deleting all the memory on the hard drive (advanced option during install). I have browsed the web and nothing has helped. Just got a new mobo after replacing the last defected one today, so that cannot be the problem. Completely and utterly frustrated to be presented with another speedbump after all this hard work to get it running.
My rig: Intel i-5 3rd gen. Kingston hyperx 2x8gb AsRock b75m-dgs motherboard. nvidia gt 440 Western Digital Caviar 250gb 7200.
I bought my Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop, windows 7, intel i3 core processor about 3 weeks ago, and it ran perfectly, handled all my ridiculous multitasking well, and was really light compared to others I've had. This morning my nephew was using it to play Skyrim (I digress, sometimes I sneak onto his game files for a little fun) and....well he has some anger issues, but that's not what this is about. Something upset him and he slammed the lower left side of the laptop pretty dern hard. Nothing broke on the outside, but suddenly the computer became unresponsive, and I had to force shut down the whole thing. When it started back up it wouldn't....start back up. I got an error message saying "Windows could not start successfully, we recommend you launch startup repair to try and fix the problem. Well I did that about 2 dozen times in a row with failures each time, till finally, much to my joy, it successfully started back up. Except now whenever I try to open a new program, it sometimes has periods of unresponsiveness, and some things like Skyrim can't be opened at all.
I have a toshiba satellite laptop with Intel Pentium, with Windows 7 and it will not start for the 5th time this week, I need it for coursework it just won't start...no Windows 7 disk, I have uninstalled all the recent software I have installed..
