View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Laptop running on Windows 7. For the past week or so every time i turn on the laptop the entire computer seizes up and I can't do anything on it at all. At first it only did this after being on for an hour or two but since a windows automatic update it has become much worse and only lasts from 10 to 30 minutes. I have tried restoring to a previous date, CCleaner and Defraggler but as of yet it has not worked. The only time I get any use out of it is when it is on safe mode but it is not practical as I can't use many of the features I need to be able to do my work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a HP Pavilion g series laptop, which has recently, when being turned on, powering up as normal by turning the light of the power button on and lighting the screen, then quickly shutting these off again, and then continuing to turn on as normal. It hasnt been doing this for very long, I have no idea whether it is a serious problem or not as I don't know anything about computers. I must add that I don't use my laptop with the battery in; I use it with the battery out as I mostly use it plug into the mains.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is 1 year old and has worked great until a month ago. I was unable to connect to the internet and thru troubleshooting got a "missing network adapter". I have since upgraded the driver. I also purchased Registry cleaner program that supposedly found over 400 registry errors.I found by accident that I was able to connect normally if I turned the PC off by holding the power button. Then restarting, I got a message to start windows normally. When I did, and then it connected to the internet normally. Now, each night if I leave the power connected to the laptop and shut down windows from the Start command it works fine. I do not want to have to leave the power connected. Toshiba tech support is unable to help other that suggesting I return the PC to the "out of the box' status which is totally unacceptable to me.

The hotspot works to the extent that it lets another computer connect, but it does not provide (pass through) the internet access I have (via 3G USB modem). While searching the net for useful information I came across the recent thread No internet connection after I turned my laptop into wifi hotspot, Following up on the two tutorials mentioned in that thread, Windows 7 Tip of the Week: Use Wireless Hosted Networking to Share An Internet Connection Wirelessly | FAQ/Tip content from Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows and Windows 7 Hotspot: Share Wifi With Your Laptop, I noticed that on my laptop the important Share tab is missing that can be seen in the first image in the first tutorial and also in the first image in the section "Changing Adapter Settings" in the secodn tutorial.

I dual-boot Ubuntu and can get into the Ubuntu partition fine so I don't think anything is necessarily wrong with the harddrive, but the Ubuntu partition is tiny and I rarely use it and can't access my Windows files anyway.
Is there anything I can try that'll help repair whatever happened? I just want to run a checkdisk utility or something similar that'll repair whatever got botched.
