I've set up my internet-connected laptop (Acer Aspire One with Windows 7 Starter) as wifi hotspot. The hotspot works to the extent that it lets another computer connect, but it does not provide (pass through) the internet access I have (via 3G USB modem). I am using Intel MyWifi Technology, and then tried using connectify, to no avail.
I did an Intel PROSet Wireless manual diagnostic to found it failing at the association test.
I can connect to the wifi hotspot, but just have no access to the internet.
My laptop is 1 year old and has worked great until a month ago. I was unable to connect to the internet and thru troubleshooting got a "missing network adapter". I have since upgraded the driver. I also purchased Registry cleaner program that supposedly found over 400 registry errors.I found by accident that I was able to connect normally if I turned the PC off by holding the power button. Then restarting, I got a message to start windows normally. When I did, and then it connected to the internet normally.Now, each night if I leave the power connected to the laptop and shut down windows from the Start command it works fine. I do not want to have to leave the power connected. Toshiba tech support is unable to help other that suggesting I return the PC to the "out of the box' status which is totally unacceptable to me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using my home internet in my new place for a couple of weeks fine, yesterday morning when I tried it it had the limited access yellow triangle and wouldn�t connect.I reset the router and connected to the wifi on my iphone which worked fine, I checked the DNS numbers were the same as on my iphone which they were and I had not changed any settings. I spent the entire day yesterday online looking for solutions, I�ve reset the adapter, disabled it etc, set the ip and dns to automatic and back again etc etc.
When my wifi tries to connect to my home internet it takes a LONG time to identify and then identifies it either as an unidentified network and/or public. Even when I change it to home it changes it back to public or just doesn�t let me change it to home and says try again later.
Ps- I just tried disabling then re-enabling the protocol 6 on the wifi which isn�t working and it just said �in order to configure TCP/IP, you must install and enable a network adapter card. But then it just let me configure it and is still connected but with limited access and public network.

When I ran the troubleshooter it said "default gateway not available." I updated Windows and my drivers, and that did not help. I had Comcast check the new router, and they said it was okay. My cell phone connects to the internet perfectly through the same wifi.I'm out of ideas. I can connect to the internet by ethernet, but that's all.

The rest of the toys in the house still connect through the router but the laptop does not. If the lan cable is plugged in the internet works. Went to Toshiba site and downloaded and ran the TVAP. It got rid of the Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter and we still can't get the wifi to enable. I turned the computer back on and the internet wouldn't work at all! I reinstalled windows 7 again, and this time I didn't do any updates. I went to the device manager and selected the Atheros AR5007 driver and selected "update". Halfway through, the computer gave me BSOD. I rolled back the driver to previous version and all works well now.

At first it only did this after being on for an hour or two but since a windows automatic update it has become much worse and only lasts from 10 to 30 minutes. I have tried restoring to a previous date, CCleaner and Defraggler but as of yet it has not worked. The only time I get any use out of it is when it is on safe mode but it is not practical as I can't use many of the features I need to be able to do my work.

It has been working fine for 2 yearsIn the middle of a windows update, the laptop was turned off.When started again, it had errors on update and stopped. Rebooted a few times but it always failed at the same point.Tried rebooting and using the system restore and repair options.It did get past the initial error point, but failed again further on.Now it doesn't boot at all, I get the error of needing to plug in a bootable device.
