My wife has a toshiba Satellite L645D-S4040 running Windows 7 64 bit. This morning she ran an update and has since lost wifi and Fn F8 does not work. Went to Toshiba site and downloaded and ran the TVAP. It got rid of the Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter and we still can't get the wifi to enable. Unfortunately she does not remember which update it was that she performed.
View 7 Repliesi recently got an update from microsoft on win 7, and immediately after it had finished updating i had no sound in any application (aim, skype, chrome, firefox, Internet, etc.). this has happened before, and i ran microsoft's sound problems wizard and it always said that an option had been clicked off and that it had restored it.this time when i ran the wizard it says it detects no problems. i am sure it is the software, as it happens a lot with ms updates. will downloadi can't go back to a previous configuration, i don't have one to go to

I'm out of ideas. I've been running Win 7 on this machine for more than a year without issues in updating etc. Now it will not search or update/install critical items. I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. I've included a screenshot from the windows update error as well as the error I get when trying to run hijack this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to be dynamically turning on the Clicklock function. It happens often (multiple times a day) when I'm using Sibelius music notation software. It may have happened once in my email client (Thunderbird) but in no other circumstances. I think that rules out the mouse hardware. And I'm almost certain it happened with a different mouse, a different PC, and different operating system (WinXP PS3), but I can't confirm that.Is there a way an application like Sibelius can programmaticallly turn on Clicklock? (The Sibelius support folks don't think it's their problem.)

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy pc was running fine. i was playing a game for a few hours. i then left the room for a few mins n when i returned to my pc it had shut down. i tried to turn it bk on and nothin. no fans leds nothing. i unplugged everything for a min then plugged bk in and retried to power up. nothing....so i unplugged everythin again n went to bed. then this morning i plugged everythin bk in hit the power switch n guess wot. it booted up with the usual options after an unexpected shut down. safe mode, safe mode with netwrk n so on.so i booted into safe mode n all was fine.

nvidia - Graphics adapter WDDM1.1, Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2, Other hardware - NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M.
After installing it, whenever my laptop tries to use the Nvidia card, I get a blue screen and the system restarts. I looked in installed updates to uninstall it, and it is not there. I did a system restore to four days before I installed it, and I still get the same effect. Lastly, I installed some older nvidia drivers that used to work using the clean install option, and I still have this problem.
Is this file safe to have operating on my computer???
View 2 Replies View RelatedA while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have an hp g42 laptop with windows 7 and the webcam wont work. When I start up cyberlink youcam, it says: "Warning, No webcam detected. Try plugging in a webcam into your computer now. If you are using an integrated camera, make sure that it is turned on". It worked when i first got my computer for a few months, then it stopped. I haven't used it for a few months because of this problem.

The dell rep remotely took over the computer and cleared out a bunch of the programs from startup in various locations. Since then I have not been able to use the scroll and multi-touch features on my mousepad. I can't find where to turn this back on and re-installing the driver has not helped.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Laptop running on Windows 7. For the past week or so every time i turn on the laptop the entire computer seizes up and I can't do anything on it at all. At first it only did this after being on for an hour or two but since a windows automatic update it has become much worse and only lasts from 10 to 30 minutes. I have tried restoring to a previous date, CCleaner and Defraggler but as of yet it has not worked. The only time I get any use out of it is when it is on safe mode but it is not practical as I can't use many of the features I need to be able to do my work.
