Having Windows 7 for a month now, I notice the prompt to "backup" my system every week. I began the process when I got the first prompt a couple of weeks ago and did the backup accordingly, but I'm wondering how urgent it is to do this every week? I use my PC for browsing and for my home budget (MS Excel which I back up to disc each week) but for little else.

I've got a desktop computer with XP Pro SP3 and a laptop with both XP and Windows 7(dual-boot). These two computers are connected through a router in a network(desktop comp-wired, laptop-wireless). Everything works fine, except the sharing in Windows 7. From the desktop computer I can access all resources on the laptop without problems. From the laptop, everything works fine too, when I try to access the desktop computer's shared folders and printers, but ONLY FROM XP. Every time I want to do this from Windows 7, I'll be prompted for a "network password". I have no idea what I had to enter - I did a search over the internet, and found following suggestions:
-turn on network discovery, file and printer sharing, public folder sharing at the Advanced Sharing Settings, and disable password-protected sharing
-both computers are in the same workgroup
-disabled the limitation of blank passwords in the group policy editor
NOTHING WORKED. (firewall might not be the reason, because I use Windows Firewall, and it's configured to enable sharing)What username/password do I have to enter, or how could I access the resources without a password?
Good Evening Windows 7 64 bit Internet Explorer 9 Today I done my firstsystem back up I used the image back up because it says it copies everything insystem including program and drivers. My C drive is 500 GB. I am backing up to aninternal hard drive. I had 170 GB to be copied but when it finished it onlyshows to be 43 GB. On the hard drive also when I put the backup DVD disk in therom and go to properties it shows ZERO on the disk. You can look at the backside of the disk and tell something has been copied to it can someone explainto me where I went wrong. I am using an internal 1 TB hard drive to back up to.If the 43GB back up is correct how you can verify that it has copied all 170GB. According to Windows help section you need a hard drive of at least thesize of your original C drive.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI virtualized Gliem's TestPrep application using Microsoft App-V Sequencer and created the necessary files to install it in client machine.There is only one entry point(shortcut) for this app.After successful installation of this app in the App-V client machine , i tried launching the shortcut. it is working absolutely fine in admin login but when i launch the same shortcut in user mode. It is throwing me error message showing that i am using a limited user account.when i launch the same shortcut using Run As Administrator.it works fine...I tried changing the compatibility settings by going to properties of the shortcut and forcing the app to run in admin mode...still its not working fine...Tried __COMPAT_LAYER Env list in OSD still no joy.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn this recent windows update, 2/14/13, my computer froze on the "Preparing to configure windows" screen for several hours. I rebooted normally and the screen went to "configuring updates" and stuck at 67% for about an hour. I got frustrated with it and rebooted to safe mode to see if I could do a system restore and when I did it said there was no restore point back up! So I rebooted normally and now it is still just sitting on the "Preparing to Configure Windows" screen with the circle spinning. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate on a Dell Dimension 2400.

Most of the time the computer is idle when it BSODs, sometimes I will just boot it, log in, and then after 10 min. or so it will BSOD, so I don't know of any reliable trigger.I am using Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit on my Dell Dimension 1525 that I purchased in August 2008. So, I changed the owner of Documents and Settings from SYSTEM to Fasih(HP-PCHP) and this is me. Still I cant access. i was shuting down my pc last week after using it all day with no problems when a blue screen appeared and the machine rebooted.I shut it down properly and it was fine the next few days . then i the same thing happened twice in a week.only on shutdown.the most recent program i installed a few weeks ago was Protools8.[code] This indicates that a system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

After a week, I suddenly noticed that it is now almost full, with only 1.46G free. When I open the drive, I only see recovery folder (16KB) and HPSF_rep text document (4KB). I just bought an ASUS Zenbook UX32A, it has an SSD 32 and SATA 500, I deleted the recovery and did a clean install of Windows 7 on the SSD (originally win was on the SATA) and I uploaded all the drivers and did some windows updates. the laptop will randomly shutdown once a week or every two weeks, and the boot order will get switched to the SATA. Obviously i will get an error "windows cant boot" etc. I have to manually go in bios and switch it back to the SSD.I scanned the computer with Avast and did the boot scanner, 100% clean
