Windows 7 Starter Won't Hotspot With IPhone

Sep 6, 2011

I have Win 7 Starter on an Akoya/Median Netbook and I can't get the system to accept my iPhone as an internet 'Hotspot' either in Bluetooth, or with the USB cable.

I have Vista and XP on other machines and it was relatively easy to setup.

Can't Connect Directly To Wifi But Can Using IPhone As Hotspot - Limited Access, Changing It To Public Network Etc

Feb 8, 2012

I have been using my home internet in my new place for a couple of weeks fine, yesterday morning when I tried it it had the limited access yellow triangle and wouldnt connect.I reset the router and connected to the wifi on my iphone which worked fine, I checked the DNS numbers were the same as on my iphone which they were and I had not changed any settings. I spent the entire day yesterday online looking for solutions, Ive reset the adapter, disabled it etc, set the ip and dns to automatic and back again etc etc.
When my wifi tries to connect to my home internet it takes a LONG time to identify and then identifies it either as an unidentified network and/or public. Even when I change it to home it changes it back to public or just doesnt let me change it to home and says try again later.

Ps- I just tried disabling then re-enabling the protocol 6 on the wifi which isnt working and it just said in order to configure TCP/IP, you must install and enable a network adapter card. But then it just let me configure it and is still connected but with limited access and public network.

Networking Two Windows 7 PCs Via Bluetooth While Connected To HotSpot?

Apr 23, 2012

I have two Windows 7 PCs on my boat. Normally they are connected to the Internet via a 3G Wireless Router; they are therefore on the same Home network, so I can access the shared folders between them.

However, occasionally I connect at least one of them to a WiFi HotSpot, to save my monthly 3G download limit. Even if I connect both of them, I can't access the shared folders, as it would be foolish to designate a Public network as a Home network.

Is it possible to maintain a permanent BlueTooth network between them, regardless of what they are doing via WiFi?

USB Hotspot From USB Adapter?

Apr 9, 2012

I stay at a remote location that requires me to have a 25' usb antenna with an external internet adapter to receive a signal (from across a lake) to my laptop. What I was wondering is if I can plug in a second USB antenna which would hopefully generate a wifi hotspot (from the same laptop) for my 11 year old to use her Ipad or even a second laptop that doesn't have the fancy antenna. I've played with the adhoc network ability in Windows 7 but all info I can find assumes that the primary connection is from a wired source.

Updating An IPhone Driver In Windows 7

Feb 25, 2012

I'm wondering if anybody can help with the following.

I'm running Win7 Home 32-bit with all of the latest updates and also have the latest version of iTunes installed. I'm trying to connect an iPhone to my PC, via iTunes, but it is not recognised by iTunes, and I keep getting an error saying that it cannot read the iPhone.

However, the iPhone does appear in Windows Explorer (apparently as a camera, as I can read the DCIM file and look at the photos there), but as the iPhone is not jailbroken I cannot see any other files. The iphone is running iOS5.

From searching online, it appears that the problem may be that Windows thinks it is a camera, and has atatched a particular driver to it (an MTP driver). Others also suggest that I need to have the phone installed with a different driver (usbappl)

If I uninstall the phone or try and automatically update the driver then it says that there is no better driver.

I have also tried to specifically update it with the usbappl driver (by updaing the driver and using the "have disk" option and then browsing to where the usbappl driver is installed). In this case I get an error saying that "the folder specified doesn't contain a compatible driver for your device).

how I can get Windows to update with the correct driver, or some other way of getting iTunes to see the iPhone.

Tethering IPhone To Windows 7 Using Bluetooth?

Jan 5, 2012

I want to use my iPhone as a modem but do so wirelessly through Bluetooth. After downloading the latest Centrino drivers for my laptop's Bluetooth adapter, I successfully paired my iPhone and my laptop. The problem is that I can only share music files. For some reason, I can't share Internet access over Bluetooth. It's not coming up as an option in the "Devices" section once both devices are connected. Am I doing anything wrong or do I need to create a network from within Windows 7? I tried setting up the drivers using Microsoft's internal database of drivers but it couldn't find any drivers for my Bluetooth adapter. As a result, the two wouldn't even pair up. Downloading the Intel drivers fixed that problem. But now, I find myself not being able to tether without USB.

Windows Explorer Does Not Read IPhone?

Dec 18, 2012

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'll start here. I'm running windows 7, 32 bit and I have an iPhone4 with most recent OS. Yesterday I mistakenly shut down the computer while iPhone was backing up/syncing with iTunes. Today when I attach the iPhone, the computer does not recognize it. iTunes DOES recognize the iPhone, just not windows explorer. When I attach my iPad, the computer does recognize the iPad. I did a Windows system restore and a reset of iphone that erased all settings, but that didn't help.

IPhone Not Recognized By ITunes In Windows 7 X64

May 1, 2010

I have a Dell Studio 1569 with Windows 7 Professional x64, 4GB RAM, Intel i5 Core.

When I plug my iPhone into the USB port and open iTunes, iTunes says "An iPhone has been previously synced with this computer." Then I'm asked if I want to "Set up as a new iPhone" or "Restore from the backup of:"

I've already connected this phone in the past. However, each time I reconnect, I have to either restore or create a new phone, both of with require deleted and losing info and media on my iPhone.

I've read about the Gigabyte P55 BIOS update. My computer doesn't have a Gigabyte Motherboard. I tried that fix anyway and the program wouldn't let me run it because it's not a Gigabyte product. I've read in some places that on some Dell laptops, the USB ports don't work well with iPhones. That's absurd and I can't imagine that would be the proble; I hope that's not the issue.

Setting Up Windows 7 PC As PPTP VPN Proxy Server For Use With IPhone?

Nov 19, 2010

I have found a temporary workaround by way of using Hotspot Shield's free VPN services, but I would like to create my own proxy server at home instead so I can avoid the constant timeouts/disconnects involved with the free service. So far I've set up my PC to use a static IP on the network, and forwarded port 1723 to that address. I've also enabled incoming connections under adapter settings, but it just seems like I'm missing something big here. I am unable to make a connection to my home PC from my iPhone over WAN, and even if I was able to I'm not sure how to enable internet connection sharing over that connection.

How To Extend Windows 7 Laptop WiFi Internet To IPhone

So is there any way that I can use my laptop as a second router to extend my wifi to my iPhone? I've tried third party programs like Virtual Router Manager, Connectify, Maryfi, but my iPhone (4S model) picks up the signal for like 20 seconds, and then the wifi just drops for 10 minutes, then picks it up again for like 20 seconds, then drops for like 10 minutes again, and on...) Is there any way that windows 7 can do it natively?
