Windows 7 Recovery Fails To Load Interface
Sep 24, 2012
I have an ASUS laptop which used to have a recovery partition. I used a function to make recovery DVDs and proceeded to format the partition.Well now Windows won't boot. I attempted to use my recovery DVDs but after taking 10-15 minutes to boot it loads to a screen with a graphic (wallpaper) and stays there.It doesn't tell me to load the next disk, it doesn't give me any kind of menu, does not accept any kind of input (including ctrl-alt-del).

My Dell Studio 17 shut down yesterday after sitting idle. Now i cannot boot windows. I get this endless loop that ultimately leads me to startup repair which either hangs or errors out. Attempting to start in safe mode takes me to same place.I know the root of the problem is bsod as I see it flash when attempting to load windows.I was able to launch system restore tool from advanced options (f8) but after selecting restore point the cpu seems to hang after over an hour of Initalizing.I can bring up command prompt by the way.

Windows 7 X 64 fails when trying to load MS updates. I have Malwarebytes and MS essentials installed. Security updates for MS.NET are successful as are Definitions for MSE, the Bing Bar updates and even updates for Office 2010 (even though it is not loaded on my computer) but none of the Security Updates for Windows 7 x64 based systems will load. Every bootup for weeks it says - you have 37-40 updates. If I tell it not to update, sometimes, somehow, it does it any way and in the middle of my word processing a box pops up that is counting down to a reboot. If I don't walk away it just shuts down in the middle of my typing. If I ignore the "updates available" it changes my log off box from "shut down" to load updates and shut down.
If I don't pay close attention and change the default back to "shut down" each time I get stuck loading all the same updates that didn't load the day before. Of course if I tell it to load updates it will finish and then wants to shut down. During shut down it spends a very long time loading definitions? Then when I reboot it spends even longer trying to load updates. I must walk away. This ties my computer up for a very long time and then always has to run "start up repair" to get the PC to boot after loading updates. Every once in a while start up repair fails and the only way to use my computer is to "reset to an earlier date before the latest updates". Of course then it insists I need the updates once more! Including the ones that DID load once successfully.
I don't understand about firewalls and if I have one it is probably the default that came with MSE. (Windows also has one?) Malware bytes is not set to automatically update and run and I manually run it every few weeks but the machine always comes up clean. I downloaded and ran KB947821 System Readiness Tool but it did not improve the situation. I disabled MSE and was able to load all the security updates successfully in batches but every time I tried to load an update for win 7 x64 most of them failed, i.e KB2506014, 2533552, 2641690, 980408, 2506014, etc. Something must be blocking some of my MS updates and letting others through. I heard there was a service pack for win 7 but I hesitate to try and download it as it will probably just freeze my computer.

Old office computer:
Dell E510
P4 3.4 GHz
4 GB RAM
Radeon x800 PCIE
Crucial M4 SSD 120 GB
Windows 7 x64
New internals:
CPU: AMD A4 5300
Mainboard: MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 FM2
8 GB RAM
Corsair 450 watt PSU
Cheap Cooler Master Case
After assembling the new computer, I ran it without the system disk installed to make sure everything was kosher, and memory timings, etc. were correct. After verifying that, I shut it down and put the SSD into the new unit and booted it up. The system posts fine, but once the Win 7 startup image shows, the system restarts and brings me to the "start windows in safe mode/start windows normally" prompt.

Okay, so I load up the screen, and it says "Windows Error Recovery"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.And it has options for...Launch Startup RepairStart WindowsI tried the Launch Startup Repair, but it gets stuck at the screen, and nothing pops up. Theres just a mouse.And if I hit Start Windows, it all goes well, but then after it starts windows, before I get to the login screen, it quickly flashes to a blue screen with text on it for a few milliseconds, and then just goes ALL the way back to the Windows Error Recovery

my laptop recently just started to fail with failure in the video card (l4d2 vertical bar crash and same iwth Internet)and now i'm trying to recover by using hp recovery discs, but it's not working!!!it installs and then when it says "customizing software" it just freezes and hard-resets itself.then when i turn it back on, it says "setup is preparing computer for first use" then the welcome screen then an error message/sound -> "windows could not complete the installation. to install windows on this computer, restart the installation"and then it shuts down and restarts itself. is it possibly a hardware error? before the recovery i had video issues with computer constantly failing to load 3d games or even Internet at times.

I'm running Windows 7 x64, JDK 7 U4 and the Java plugin just won't work correctly in any browser, be it IE9, Chrome 19, or Firefox 12. Both the Java installation and the browsers are 32-bit versions. The browsers simply hang or display nothing when a Java applet is supposed to load.I do Java development, so I need the JDK.I have tried everything it seems. Completely removed the JDK and reinstalled it, tried both JDK 7 U3 as well as whatever the latest version of JDK 6 is, tried with just the JRE, but the problem is still the same. I also used a tool called JavaRa to completely remove any remnants of Java before re-installing it.The Java plugin seems to be correctly listed in all browsers (for instance in "about : plugins" in Chrome), with the correct version, too. In Control Panel -> Java, I also have "Enable the next-generation Java Plug-in" enabled.Apart from the browser issue, Java seems to be correctly installed, as I can run "java" or "javac" from a command prompt and it will give the expected output. I am also able to compile Java source files as well as run Java bytecode without issues.A few times I have been able to get it to work in a browser. All of these times were directly after a fresh installation of the JDK/JRE, but then it seems to stop working after a short period of time.

Periodically I have problems loading the Gmail inbox from an IE8 favorite, if using Gmail "standard view". Gmail "basic HTML" view doesn't have the problem. Likewise Firefox 3.5.5 nor Chrome 3.0.195.33 have the problem in either Gmail standard of basic view. IE8 version: 8.0.7600.16385. Happens with both 32-bit and 64-bit IE8.
Problem only happens if loading from an IE8 favorite, not if manually going to Gmail and logging in.
Typically the problem manifests as an indefinite wait while loading Gmail. However sometimes one of the following two errors happen:
""We're sorry. It seems there is a problem. Please try using Gmail with a supported browser. If you're encountering this error while using a supported browser, we suggest alerting your Internet Service Provider (ISP) that a proxy is failing to accept cookies on HTTP redirects."
OR error loading page (yellow icon on IE8 status bar), where error details are: Read more at the forums...

So yesterday in the early AM's I was browsing my internet and all the sudden, bam.i lost my internet.No reason at all, it just happened. This is only my computer, everything else works fine (If internet is out, our TV's don't work)When I go to my little internet icon in the taskbar, it says Unidentified Network and I have no internet access what so ever.When I run CMD and use ipconfig /release I get this:"An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified."I also got this error before:"An error occurred while releasing interface Local Area Connection : An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint." Tech support kept telling me to use ipconfig /flushdns but whenever I entered it into CMD it gave me an error saying something along the lines of "command unrecognized" I cannot give you guys the full text of what CMD says since it's on a different computer.I am using a direct ethernet cord, not wireless.
* ipconfig /release and /renew and /flushdns
* Turn off firewall
* Update and Reinstall Driver
* Restarting my modem/router
* Restarting my computer
* Unplugging my ethernet cord and replugging it (also leaving it unplugged over-night)
* Manually assigning the 12 code I'm assuming IP

Fujitsu Siemens laptop, Intel dual core, 1.75g ram. When I restart it, fails to load and doesn't even show to startup screen, nothing, just a black screen. so, I must shut it down from the power button. And if I start it rapidly, it's possible to not start from the first try. I made a fresh install of the OS, nothing. Can this be a hardware problem?

When I try and boot into safe mode (with and without networking) when it gets to loading CLASSPNP.SYS it says "Please Wait..." but sits and does nothing, it will eventually load the repair program and do a scan looking to see what the problem with the computer is. It doesnt ever find anything. I try and boot to windows normally and it just sits and the Starting WIndows screen for ever. The Windows Logo is pulsing so i know it hasnt froze up. When I try and Launch Startup repair it doesnt ever find anything wrong. So at this point Ive given up on this install of windows and want to get my files off. So I throw in a copy of Knoppix and boot the live DVD. It boots without fail. Only when I try and access my HDD that has windows installed (I have two HDDs in my computer, one for windows and programs, the other mainly for media storage) it wont let me access it. Ive tried follow tuts online to allow me to access the drive but nothing work. Is there anything I can do at this point to allow me to get my data off the drive, or repair it to boot? If I have to reinstall I can, but would rather not have to till I get my data off the drive.

i have a dell inspiron 1545 installed with windows 7. I started it this morning and installed the latest version of free AVAST virus protection which then told me to restart the computer. So after doing this, It didn't load properly after taking my password and came up with a blank screen. So i manually turned my computer off after having waited for it to load (which it never did) now when i turn it on it comes up with the 'windows error recovery' screen. I have tried every alternative way of booting it up including 'safe mode' all which didn't work and the screen ended up blank every time. I must have tried it at least 15 times but still had no joy.is there anything i can do without taking the computer to pieces?

My hard drive crashed on my laptop. Before It crashed, It gave me a hard drive warning of imminent failure, and gave me an option to create recovery disks. I ended up creating 11 disks from the option. I installed the new hard drive and the BIOS reads that it will boot from the internal optical drive first. When I insert the first CD and start then computer, it continues to read "Operating system not found". When I look at the CD in another computer, it reads three files and one folder. The first file is an icon file which reads "Setup", the next is a "Media" bin file, and the last is an autorun setup information file. The last is a folder that contains various other backup files. My computer did not come with any copies of windows.

I am wondering if it is possible to turn off the MDI on the Windoes 7 task bar? When I have an application like Photoshop open and loads of documents open they all appear in the TOC. If you want to jump between apps quickly via alt-tab you can't because you have to tab through all the documents. Anyone know where the setting is to turn it off? Ideally I'd like to have some button on the desktop perhaps that will turn it on and off depending on the user and there preference.

Very slow operations like Start button, start an application, switch between windows. Sometimes stalls completely. Sometimes freezes so I have to go with power button. When inside an application - not so bad. I am having this PC second hand for about a year, getting worse gradually. AVG antivirus and tuneup say all is fine.

I will be the first to admit that when it comes to drivers etc, I'm not an authority or really a person with a great deal of knowledge etc.
I have a Lexmark x342n All in One printer (print/copy/fax) and have not used it for quite some time as I just use the university printers. However with university being on holidays I was hoping to use the scanner however, now that I have Windows 7 (I used to use Windows XP) everything but the Scanner Interface has a driver for it when I plugged it in.
I have tried on the Lexmark site and used the drivers there however these all create a new printer in my control panel -> printers area that does not print at all, yet the printer that appears in the same area when Windows 7 automatically installed drivers upon plugin will print but not scan. When I try and find a driver for the Scanner Interface it just says that "device driver did not install properly"

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal. First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly. After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects.

dell has informed me that my problem with my PC Is that windows 7 can't reconize the local network interface driver and told me that it's a software issue. I reinstalled the local network interface driver from the original cd that came with the PC and 2x's restored the computer to another time and then restored it back to the factory settings-with a Dell tech on the phone- nothing helped. This problem started one morning when lighting was felt/heard very close to our home and in fact burned out our verizon moden/box that Verizon replaced. From this point I wasn't able to go on line because there was no local network avail for verizon to connect to is how I understand it.

Clean installing Windows 7 x86 is no problem. But
1) upgrading Vista x86 to Windows 7 x86 fails and automatically rolls back to Vista, and
2) attempt to clean install Windows 7 x64 results in BSOD when rebooting to finalize the process.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I can't get into regedit.exe to fix the registry and the error pops up when i try to
do a recovery, and also I don't have a back up. The weird thing is that it can run programs through other ways. I was able to open itunes by manually clicking a song, and I had to manually turn on my wireless hardware to get internet connection.

I uninstalled a couple of toolbars for Firefox the other day using the Uninstaller in Advanced System Care 5. I think it was the Power Clean utility which has caused the problem. Now I cant access any of my folders or shortcuts on my desktop or in the Start Menu (Control Panel, My Computer, Documents etc.) the msg 'no such interface supported' pops up. The USB connections are not working either. All non windows programs are working fine such as Mozilla, Bit Torrent, Picasa and Wifi. Do I need to reinstall Windows 7to fix the problem and will reinstalling Windows wipe all my data of my hard drives? I returned the computer to the previous restore point but it had no effect
