View 1 RepliesMy hard drive crashed on my laptop. Before It crashed, It gave me a hard drive warning of imminent failure, and gave me an option to create recovery disks. I ended up creating 11 disks from the option. I installed the new hard drive and the BIOS reads that it will boot from the internal optical drive first. When I insert the first CD and start then computer, it continues to read "Operating system not found". When I look at the CD in another computer, it reads three files and one folder. The first file is an icon file which reads "Setup", the next is a "Media" bin file, and the last is an autorun setup information file. The last is a folder that contains various other backup files. My computer did not come with any copies of windows.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to restore the computer the FIRST TIME I got it, but I've found out that the Recovery copy won't make any changes because I have two(2) Program Files for Internet Explorer, one is for 64bit OS, and the other is 32bit (x86).I've tried to enter in the command prompt: takeown /f "C:Program Files (x86)" /r /d n and it displays ERROR: The current logged on user does not have ownership privileges on the file (or folder) "C:Program Files (x86)". But I am the administrator and the owner of this Hitachi Laptop Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit OS.I could not play any movies via internet, and I don't know what plug-ins are missing, so I want to restore the computer to its Factory setting.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having this weird problem with a PC trashing disk to the point where the PC becomes completely unresponsive, yet, perfmon does not seem to indicate any load. CPU is 1-3%, memory used <1.5GB. Disk-IO is indicated to <100 KB/sec, yet, and this is the weird bit, the blue line "highest active time" hammers on at 100% non-stop, and the HD activity light is on constant.
This is the hardware:
GIGABYTE Z68MA-D2H-B3 MB
i5-2400 CPU
2 x 4GB 1333MHz RAM
2 x 320GB WD SATA3 (3GB) disks connected to the MB 3GB SATA connectors.
It started with an upgrade from an AMD64 with an Asrock MB which had worked fine for years. First I just replaced the MB, CPU and RAM and after the usual complaints by MS, Windows 7 eventually settled and everything worked fine for a couple of days until suddenly the trashing that I described above started. I thought this was perhaps due to some leftover drivers from the AMD time, so I reformatted and reinstalled Windows 7. The trashing eventually goes away, for example if I leave it alone overnight, it might have calmed down in the morning, or if I turn off the PC and turn it on again, it may take anything from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours, but eventually it starts again.I already checked for malware. I've used Avast for years, but decided to switch to MSE to see if it made any difference (it didn't). I also ran Malwarebytes, also didn't find any problems. Windows 7 has been updated with all the latest updates and patches and SP1 as well as with the supplied Gigabyte Drivers.
I've recently been having trouble with my computer. I turned it off one day, and when I tried to turn it back on the computer would never start. It would say loading windows, and it had the windows logo and everything, but then it would just stop. I tried to go through safe mode but that wouldn't load either. So I tried using my repair disks, but the repair disks won't load up either. I went into BIOS and made it so it would boot from the CD first, but... nothing. It just goes to this grey screen with that sweepy background graphic you get when you first get windows, and does nothing.I have a laptop, Windows 7 64 bit.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a repair with these disks? I am getting a BOOTMGR missing but I checked the hard drive and it is fine. I do not want to lose anything because I have a lot on it.I cloned my image about 5 days ago and I may go that route, however, I have done things since then and don't want to lose the data. Before I load the HP Recovery disks (4 of them, and I had to order them for free except pay for shipping), is there a repair option?

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy rather new Acer Predator G has been acting up lately. I tried a restore point but this doesn't seem to help. As a last resort I was going to format the disk and re-install 7, however Acer never sent me recovery disks and I don't have 7 disks (Came pre-loaded). So my question is, if I can find someone with windows 7 disks can I use them + The CD key that's on the label of my desktop? Or do I need specific ones? Acer will send me recovery disks for 20$ but If I can pull this off for cheaper, I'd like to.

The computer crashed with a blue screen a few months ago, and I could not locate the recovery disks, so I ordered a set from Gateway (1 System disk, 2 Recovery disks, 1 Language disk). My attempts at recovery were unsuccessful and I got the msg: failure disk 0 partition 3. I replaced the HD with a brand new one yesterday. My attempts at recovery went a bit further, to the point that the computer loads the information on the various disks, but when it tries to restart.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving crashed my wife's dual-boot system, and the HP recovery section is no longer available. We have got it back up using the hp windows 7 update disk from hp. Will windows 7 help me build "recovery" disks that also back up our personal data... or should I back up our personal data another way? We have no Windows 7 installation disk - just the upgrade disk from HP (Vista to Windows 7).
