Windows 7 Home, Preconfigured PC First Startup: No Username Used During Setup?

Using a dime a dozen, store bought preconfigured PC running Win 7, during the initial setup out of the box, when you are at the user name/ computer name screen, I initially typed in a user name, but then did a "cut", deleting that name and I just entered a password to see if it would let me do this.
To my surprise it did, advancing me to the next screen with just a password.
When I got to the actual login screen and just typed in the password, but it wouldn't let me login. I tried the original user name with the password, but that didn't work.
The solution from Comtrash was to do a restore process, effectively reloading their version of the O/S.
I am trying to install Windows 7 enterprise. When it gets to the step to enter the computer name and usually at that same step you setup the username. This installation does not have that step and when I click next it finishes the install reboots and brings me to the login screen. I can log in because there is no username or password set.
How to set up a User name and password on a Windows 7 pc so that I can access it on a network. I have shared the whole drive and turned on full access to all users.
I've got some driver problems so I decided to reinstall the same windows [Win 7]. While installing, The system restarted and showed up the Win 7 wallpaper asking for username and password. From what ? Also i didn't configured username/password before this. Tried the old username/pass but it says "This domain cannot be connected, blah blah blah...".
Performed system restore to factory point when I first recieved the computer. When windows starts, it states that it is rpeparing the system for first time use, however it will get to the welcome screen and prompt for a user name and passwordSystem restore never asked for a user name and password. I tried using the account information from when I setup the computer originally but it does not recognize the username. Also tried to type in administrator for the user name and it says the account has been disabledI have tried to setup user through the command prompt and through the registry using the windows recovery disk. When all this failed I contacted Dell and they said I disabled the admin account during restore (I would like to know how) and I would need the windows installation disk which were not included.
trying to create a home network. I am trying to share certain folders from my pc to my laptop. When I tried accessing the network drive, the computer is asked for a user id, and password. I set up the password, but I dont know what my user id is, how can I find that?
When I used to boot my computer it went to the Windows 7 screen with my username, large icon above it, and a spot to enter password below. Recently it started going to the same screen upon bootup, only now my username and icon are smaller than before and I must now click the small icon before it turns big, and then I can enter my password. how to go back to bypassing this annoying extra click before entering my password?
i ve windows 7 home premium 32 bit genuine installed on my compaq610 .some how it was corrupted due to partitition magic 8 . and i now i ve installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit . now can i get the setup of windows 7 home premium 32 bit and istall on my laptop with original key masked on th eback of my laptop. can it make my Windows 7 genuine AGAIN?????
I'm Running Windows 7(64bit)Each time I boot into Windows 7 Prem (64) a open window apears requesting my username at the top of the open window to specify a a program to open it?I've clicked on note pad and I get the following information that apears, each time though it requests, or looks for a program to use to open.
I restored from Carbonite online back up service to my current Win7 Laptop. In the restoration process, it created a user from the previous machine's setup. I now have 2 user's which I would like to replace with "NO USERS" (since I am the sole user). (I use individual file passwords to protect my personal or confidential files.) I can live with one User which would have control over the entire computer rather than an Administrator with other users with different levels of access.
I am concerned with possibly losing access to the files under the new user if I delete the current users.
I have a windows 7 ultimate setup at home allowing a VPN connections via ptppp using the incoming setup.I set up the Client which is my iPad 2 and the connection goes through fine authenticating and then connected internally within the network and externally outside the network. Everything seems work prefectly.The client(iPad 2) loses internet browsing capability if I turn On the option to send all traffic however if the send all traffic is off then everything works fine. It's only my assumption that the reason why the internet works when the send all traffic is Off via my iPad 2 to the windows 7 machine is because it created a split tunnel which allows me to use the Internet without problems.My goal is to be able to turn On Send All traffic and it works. Cause:This issue occurs because Windows 7 is preinstalled on a new computer by using image-based Windows deployment technology. Windows Media DRM and Zune DRM systems are affected by this type of Windows 7 installation.
Resolution:you must check the functionality of Windows Media DRM and Zune DRM. If Windows Media DRM and Zune DRM do not function, use the ResetDRM tool to reset DRM systems.
The motherboard died on my 3-year-old Compaq, so I just ordered a new computer that comes preloaded with Win7Home Prem x64. It was from Dell Outlet so I couldn't choose the OS. I've been using MCE (XP pro 32-bit) for several years and love it.I'm worried about program and hardware compatibility with Windows 7 x64. I don't use very graphics-heavy apps like CADD, Photoshop, etc. I only plan to do a little video editing with my .avi clips. I also have an older version of Replay AV that I use to record live streaming radio. I don't want to buy a new scanner (Canoscan LiDE 20 - no x64 drivers!) so here are my options:
A-Partition the new 1TB drive for dual boot setup with Windows 7 Home x64 / WinXP Pro (32-bit). I would buy the XP Pro OEM Branded DVD.
B-Install my old 200GB SATA Seagate Barracuda 7200 as a second drive and run XP programs and scanner from that.
C-Buy Win 7 Pro 32-bit OEM Branded discs, remove Windows 7 home x64, and do a complete new install with the new discs, and hope that my XP programs work with XP Mode. (new i5 processor supports virtualization)
After dealing with a severe re-occuring malware problem which needed Microsoft's offline scan to eliminate, I started having trouble getting my Dell laptop to boot up. First I get a Windows Error Recovery screen with a message telling me that Windows failed to start and that I should Launch startup repair. So I complete the launch as recommended and afterwards a screen pops up saying Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically. The only thing I see in the problem details that may be important is with Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover and Problem Signature 07: FailureDuringSetup. In advanced options for recovery and support I tried using SytemRestore which told me was unsuccessful, the command prompt with chkdsk and sfc which did nothing at all and Dell DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup whcih was useless and probably did more harm. Now I'm sitting here with a useless piece of junk and not sure where to go next.
Following the steps in the �Homegroup� tutorial on this site, I reach point 7, where it tells me to click on the �Join now,� button. However, that button doesn�t appear on the screens of either machine that I want to network? Opening the home-group troubleshooter, I get a message telling me that some of the problem is network related (yeah?) and these need to be resolved first. I give the machine its head and it comes back with the response that the computer�s time is out of sync, on both machines. However, clicking on �apply this fix,� brings forth yet another screen saying �Troubleshooter has completed, but was unable to fix all issues and that the problem is that my systems time differs from standard local time? I have visited the bios on both machines and made sure the times are as identical as I can get them. I�ve also checked the time in �control pannel�.
how do i setup home lan gaming for the two computers windows xp and windows 7 i have a switch and internet access note: i cant go online.. cause only one computer can have internet at a time games will be used

I purchased and setup a wireless router that seems to be working. How do I now set up my home wireless network? How do I set up the password, etc? I know this is basic for you guys but DUH I have no idea what I am doing.
Whenever I run the troubleshooter for performance issues it says one problem detected "this computer is setup to automatically run programs at startup"
And I only have 3 programs to run at start up my AV, audio driver, and some intel rapid storage program.
I bought 2 new computers, both HP windows 7 home premium, TouchSmart all in 1 computers.1 works perfectly and the other takes about 10 minutes to get past the black screen that says "Starting Windows",once it does, the computer seems to run fine. It is still under factory warranty until Sept. 2013.
I recently installed a retail upgrade version of Win 7 HP on my desktop which had previously been run on Win XP SP3. The installation went fine and the computer works fine now with the new OS, however, during startup I get a black screen which asks me to select one of three optionsa.a prior operating systemb.recovery consoleThe win 7 option is highlighted so if i do nothing the pc proceeds to open with Win 7 and finishes booting up with no boot up or performance problem.Can anyone tell me how to remove this black screen and the two non Win 7 options.isnt a major problem but is an annoyance and I know it isnt "normal"
This is very troubling, I get the attached error. I have a laptop with a company that uses a domain server.There are no local accounts on the company laptops, but you can still log in using previous credentiails.My problem:When I log in without the domain present (Example: Network cable unplugged) to get on the company wireless or VPN from home, the %USERNAME% variable is set to upper case.This wouldn't be a huge issue, except that some programs/scripts rely on the username variable being lowercase.My question: Is there a way to force the username lowercase, when logging in to a system without the domain present?
I have just set up a new Windows 7 computer and am trying to access the HD across a home wireless network from my XP laptop. XP can see the Windows 7 but it is asking for USER NAME and PASSWORD. I put in, what i think is, my user name on the Windows 7 in the dialog box and then put in the password that I use to log into the Windows 7 when I boot it up but it rejects these. I went to look on the Windows 7 for user name and password and can't seem to find it in PROPERTIES of COMUPTER.
I've got a folder shared to specific user on my Windows 7 laptop.When i try to access that folder over lan, from my Vista laptop, it doesn't ask me for user&pass, but just gives "Access denied" error message.If it's set as shared to everyone, then i can access it just fine. But i want it to be accessible only after password protection over lan. Both laptops are set to "WORKGROUP" and here are the network settings for the windows 7 one
