I keep getting the error message that Windows Explorer has stopped working (I'm using x64 7 Pro) and then restarting. I have tried the following but, to no avail:Updating all drivers.Running Scannow under admin which could find no unerabilities.Running a virus check (Kasperky) which found nothing.Ran Malware Bytes which found nothing.I booted-up in Safe Mode which didn't bring-up the message.Ran System Restore which didn't fix the issue.
I'm repeatedly having this error where all the folders I have open is closing and an error message appears: "Windows explorer needs to close." After 1-2 seconds other programs that were running reappears but the folders have been closed. Is this normal? I ran full system scan with MSE, MBAM and Superantispyware. No virus or malware was found.
Few weeks old HP PC, Windows7 Home Premium, 64 Bit
Still fighting my problem with Windows Explorer shutting down periodically,
every 1/2 to 1 hour, fixing itself, and restarting. Really annoying to say the least, as the re-starts wipe out a few of the icons in the notification area of the Taskbar at bottom. Takes about a minute or so for the"re-fixing" to be accomplished.
Anyway, some of the error msgs in the Event Log had ATI mentioned.
Thought this might be a problem with my ATI graphics card.
There are two Users on PC, and the other user says he never, ever, gets any of these error messages, so it's hard to see that it's a graphic card problem, as the card, I would think, is active irrespective of the user. True ?
This morning the error message were different.
It said: "the Device detected a Controller error onDeviceHarddisk5DR5"
I will past the error descr. below.
Is this my main PC HD ? I only have one.
But I do use External HD's for backups.
Think the HD is about to quit ?
Have so many error msgs, that I was wondering if there is any way of opening my Event Log (viewer) to all on-line so you experts can have a peek at it? Other than posting one or two descriptions here, posting them all doesn't seem practical.
I am trying to open a ftp address using windows explorer. This is for my school work. I have Windows 7. I entered the ftp address and received an error 550 system cannot find file. I tried changing files and folders settings to show hidden folders. I did everything I know how to do. I am hoping the instructor entered my info correctly to allow me access.
I have a pc running Windows 7 64bit and for a week or two I have been having problems openeing Windows Explorer to view files etc. The first time I tried to open it, it would shutdown saying "Windows Explorer ash stopped working", but then when I tried again it worked. This was annoying but at least I could access my files to copy photos etc.
Today when I try to open it, I get an error saying "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information"
It comes up with this and then shuts explorer down, and everytime I do this I get the same. I have tried to access it through all the user accounts and get the same thing each time.
I have done a virus/malware check (I used Malwarebytes, AVG, and AdAware) and everything seems ok there, and I did a sfc/scannow (?) and that said everything was ok.
My computer has somehow change when running Windows Explorer. I used to be able to open Folders by Double-clicking on them. Now I get and error window that reads; "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action." In order to open a folder, I have to Right-click on it and select the "Open" option instead of the default "Explore" option.
how to change the default back to the "Open" option?
I restored to a Windows Restore Point. Date was several months prior.Windows backed up what it needed for the restore on my external HD.Restored then after the computer reboot I have an error that will not allow me to do anything when windows is running."Windows Explorer has stopped working. Checking for the problem.""Restarting Windows Explorer"The icons disappear for a moment, return, then the error windows cycle through.
I constantly get a loop of "Windows Explorer has stopped working" errors. I've been trying to resolve this for hours now, I've looked at other threads similar to my problem but nothing seems to work. I'm currently on Safe Mode as this is the only way I can do anything without getting the error.
Here is AppCrash report: Version=1 EventType=APPCRASH EventTime=129004320084720403 ReportType=2 ...........
I have no restore points in system restore, already tried.
When I search using Windows Explorer, after approx. 30 seconds, I get the following error: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."Would anyone know why I am getting this error and where would be a good place to start to correct it?I did a clean boot even excluding windows programs and the problem was still there. I have installed all the latest Windows 7 updates. I also tried sfc /scannow and I turned off MS security software and firewall all to no avail. Is there anything else I can try? Would there be some type of log file somewhere that would tell me what is causing the problem?

My mom has an HP Mini 210-1044NR laptop. It no longer boots up right. I've tried to get the desktop screen to load in normal mode and safe mode, yet I keep getting the same error message. It says Windows Explorer has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem the next time you go online. If I click close the program, it gives her a black screen and nothing happens. I cannot get to the start menu, even. Ctrl + Alt + Del brings up task manager, but it doesn't really give me much to work with.I did have the desktop loaded at one point, but then it all froze up and shut down. The problem details are:Problem Event Name: InPageErrorError Status Code: c0000010Faulting Media Type: 00000003OS Version:6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.11Locale ID: 1033Is there any way to fix this? Maybe bring the desktop back up? Or even get to the start menu to run something and fix it? I am going crazy trying to figure out what to do
I have a Dell Inspiron 14 that I bought last April. The hard drive crashed before Christmas and I had to send it to Dell of replacement. Obviously all other software applications on the computer were gone when we got the computer back from Dell. I have since reinstalled all software using my last license to do so. Now I am having major issues with internet explorer giving me an "Object Error" on some websites. All indications I have to reinstall windows 7. How do I do this and not loose all of my other applications that are on this computer?
This is my first time on the forums, so I hope I don't screw this up. I have searched the forums and not found an answer to this problem, so I hope I'm not re-asking an old question...
I am running Windows Seven Professional 64-bit and Windows Update isn't showing any more possible updates.
My computer is a Dell Precision M90 laptop with a Intel Core2 Duo 2.0GHz processor.
Problem:
When I use Windows Explorer to open files that are associated with the program SolidWorks I receive the message: "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
I am running SolidWorks 2010 Professional SP0 which is a 3D modeling program for mechanical engineering. The program ran under XP without this issue.
I only receive this message if there is not an instance of SolidWorks running. Even after I receive this message, SolidWorks still loads and opens the file I selected through Windows Explorer.
This problem occurs no matter where the file is located (network or local).
This problem doesn't keep me from getting my work accomplished, but it is a bit of nuisance. Any help that anyone could offer would be much appreciated. I'm including a screen capture of the message.
my computer won't let me go on Internet. it will say there is something internet explorer is not working and a whole bunch of internet tabs would pop up saying error. do i have a virus?
When starting Internet Explorer, I keep getting and error message telling me that Windows Installer cannot be accessed. Now I cannot open Outlook, Word, iTunes etc. When I do try to open these programs, I get a message saying "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Small Business 2007", but it doesnt seem to do anything. I've run a diagnostic (F12) and was alerted of the following error :Error Code 0142, Msg Error Code 2000-0142, Status 79. The system is extremely slow and I can only stay logged onto an IE page for a few minutes before it has to shut down. My system just restarted (not sure why) and after the start up I got this error message "An error occurred in the program. Try to open it again. If this problem continues, you'll need to reinstall Microsoft Security Client. Error Code: 0x80040154". I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on a Dell Studio.
I turn the computer on, Windows (7 Home Premium, on a Dell Inspiron) starts, I go to my logon screen, type my password, hear the music and see the "Welcome" screen for a long time (3 minutes or so). Then I get a small error window with the message The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000006). Please Click OK to continue.I click OK, and I see a frozen screen (black, not blue). That's it. Nothing else happen. Nothing works, except Ctrl+Alt+Del, Task Manager, where however, I cannot do anything.I can start window with the command prompt, or in safe mode, but I cannot go to explorer works (I have run explorer from the cmd prompt, with the same result as described above
I have just installed Win 7 RC onto my Fujitsu Lifebook and am receiving the above error repeatedly when trying to use Internet Explorer (also get similar error for Windows Explorer). When the error appears it lists the "process name" (iexplore.exe or explorer.exe), "Module name" (eg mshtml.dll - this varies) and "assert offset" (eg 004DEB6E - also varies) along with 3 buttons "Ignore Once", "Ignore Always" and "Do not ignore".
If I select "do not ignore" the windows error reporting process kicks in but does not find a solution and will ocassionally restart IE or kick me out completely. Selecting "Ignore Once" will often lead to a number of similar popups with either different module or assert offsets.
I have gone through device manager to ensure all my drivers are properly updated and have also tried to reinstall to no avail.
Not sure if it is connected but Windows Update does not appear to find any updates either even if I try and install Office 2007 and look for updates to that (I know it should find SP2 at least).
Using MS Fix it Center, I am trying to run the test on Internet Explorer Performance. It tells me an unexpected error occured, the trouble shooting wizard cannot continue. The details give the error code 0x80070057. Forums I have visited don't address the code as it relates to troubleshooting.
ive been having a problem with internet explorer crashing since i bought my laptopim using ie9 and i keep getting the msg saying internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close (i appoligize if its not the exact words). than it closes all my programs down. i dont know if it has to do with another problem i have been having while playing facebook games and watching movies using flash player. right out of the blue my game or movie (whichever im doing) freezes than either says i need to update flashplayer or it just shows a big "!" were my game or movie should be.
I can reproduce it randomly, when I try to copy and paste files in some folderThis is a Windows 7 x64 Ultimate restored with a repair installCopying and pasting a new comctl32.dll from my Windows 7 disk in the path indicated below doesn't this issue[CODE]
I am using windows 7 ultimate x64 on my hp laptop. Since a month, I cannot open wmplayer. if i go to mp3 song and hit play. it tell me server execution error. Also, I cannot start 32 bit or regular internet explorer. I can open x64 internet explorer. I already try to install and uninstall wmp by using control panel .but, it is not working.
Yesterday while using Firefox I noticed it kept crashing, with the cause being a "BEX Event". I try opening it to no avail, everytime terminating immediately after I clicked on it. I tried Chrome and Explorer, but both of them suffered the same problem, immediately crashing due to the BEX error. I restarted my system multiple times to see if it subsides, but it reappeared promptly everytime for ALL three browsers (!) I tried Safe Mode with networking to see if its gone. Nope, same problem, with Explorer and Firefox collapsing instantly, while Chrome seem to take around 10-12 seconds of surfing before flatlining due to the same cause.
I then decided to use System Restore and managed to take my whole system back to 5 days ago when none of the problems were happening. Tried again, but nope, same issue with a BEX event. This time it seems Explorer would display it as BEX64 instead of just BEX. I tried resetting entire settings for Explorer, but the BEX error would always prevent me from doing so by shutting down the whole things before its done. I thought, maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with a faulty DEP on Explorer, and added it the list of exceptions for DEP. Still didn't work, and the system wouldn't let me add Chrome and Firefox to the list either. I tried to see if maybe I can download some new antivirus or antispyware programs off the net, except that none of my browsers work, so I have no access to the Internet in both normal and Safe modes.... Sufficient to say I am typing here from a library's computer.
OFTEN when I am working with windowz explorer I get a message that the selected action can't be performed because the folder/file is open in another program. RARELY is that the case. So what it the problem?
Delete, move, are the actions -- and i have no idea why the previous text is blue.
On a 4-year old laptop running Windows 7, I've been burning, in Windows Explorer,Verbatim brand DVD-DL discs rated at 8x, on an external USB Panasonic UJ-220 blu-ray burner that can burn DVD-DL at 2.4x, at 2.4x (the only burn speed choice that Windows Explorer offers), with no problem. Now I'm trying to do the same, with the same external USB burner and with discs from the same cake, on a 1-year old desktop, also running Windows 7. Both the laptop and the desktop are running 64-bit Windows 7[CODE]
A couple of months ago, I bought a new graphics card: a Nvidia 560GTX (Gigabyte GV-NV56GOC) and a new PSU (Corsair CX500 V2 Builder Series, 500 W) to run it and after 3 weeks the PC began to fail with the 116 error. At the begining it crashed only at Windows 7 blue starting screen (after the loading screen with win logo and a progress bar). It happened once every 4 or 5 days. After a month it was almost imposible to run unless starting in "FailSafe Mode" and began to crash in the desktop in idle. I tested it with another drivers, clean installs, changing cabes, etc... and nothing worked, only with another graphics card (an old nvidia 220GT wich came with the PC) and worked properly so I decided so send the card in RMA.
A couple of days ago the seller sent me an email saying that they couldn't find any issue with the 560GTX and they sent the card to Gigabyte to further testing (I wil have to wait 20-30 days to have more info). Yesterday my PC with the old card (the 220GT) began to fail while playing Skyrim with a grey screen and a strange buzz in the speakers. After 2 seconds it restarts saying that there was an system error bccode 116. Today it has crashed 4 times in 5 hours while playing (same as yesterday), "youtubbing" or (I think, but not sure than) in idle with a white screen and a strange buzz in the speakers, but not starting like with the 560GTX.
I had to change my HDD a month ago too so I tested in 2 diferent HDDs, drivers are OK and I guess that the PSU is enough for the new card and more than enough with the old one. I also ran sfc.exe /scannow witho no problems.I'm running Windows Home Premium x64 (Service Pack 1) OEM, reinstalled one or 2 months ago. I will attach minidump files with errors of both cards.
I installed Win 7 and if i try to open my computer of click on desktop and open up screen resolution etc. I get "Explorer.exe -Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I did a search but could not find anything related to this error in Win 7. I have found some others attached to Win XP but have to do with the installation of some software which prevents access to explorer.exe. When I boot in safe mode this issue does not appear...
