When Press Personalize It Will Show "explorer.exe Unspecified Error"
Dec 24, 2012
Everyone when i press personalize when i right click on the desktop it will show explorer.exe unspecified error.. and in control panel/appearance and personalization the icon "Themes" is gone.
So I noticed a cool AeroGlass theme and wanted to install it.. apparently the patch software was only suppose to work on Windows 7 Starter.. I have Windows 7 Pro 64bit..When I right click on personlize I get an error window that says Explorer.exe at the top and Unexpected Error for the error message.I did some searching my system for and I found the following log from the patcher software.. Here is the info in the log:[CODE]
I downloaded the .exe for 7 Home Premium from the UK Ultimate Steal site. It says it's preparing setup1.box, but eventually it gives me an error message saying "Unspecified Error".
The .iso is equally annoying, I burned it to a DVD and tried to get my laptop to boot from the DVD drive. It waited a moment and then booted from the hard drive. I burned to a different DVD and attempted to boot from DVD drive, it did the same. I then tried to boot a DVD containing Ubuntu. This booted perfectly fine.
I'm putting together a slide show of 3D images that I want to show on my TV next week when we have company.I would like the images to stay on the screen a little longer without having to actually create a slide show in some special application like Premiere. The Slide Show function in Explorer works great if I can control the timing.
I want to reinstall windows 7 again, but for some reason this time, it doesn't show the Press any key to start installation. I went to BIOS and CDROM is set to boot first. I also put in the disk in and it runs normally from desktop. The CD is a little scratched, but I don't think that is the problem. The reason I want to boot from startup is so i can format to delete everything and clean install, or is there an alternative?Windows 7 Home premium 64 bitp5n-t deluxenvidia geforce 8800 gts 512
I have an unspecified error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1 (yes there is a gap before the 3f1). I have tried but the above error occurs. HDD is C: drive NTFS system. Reason I'm worried is that sfc /scanow returned nothing, but windows backup returned quite a few lines similar to the following....
- Windows Backup skipped C:UsersxxxxxDocuments because is it on corrupted drive C:. - Windows Backup skipped c:UsersPublicvideos because is it on corrupted drive C:. - Windows Backup skipped c:UsersxxxxxAppDataLocalLow because is it on corrupted drive C:.
i am trying to create a restore point in my system but everytime i am getting this message: Error message was: "System Restore" did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed."Details: An unspecified error occurred during System Restore (0xc0000022)." i've even run System File Checker [SFC] and scan it but it shows that there is no integrity error. but after that while creating a restore point same error message was there. so,how should i create a restore point?

Now wants I start installing it fills up the green bar and then when there's just a bit left to go I get the error message:
Running Win 7 Home with all latest updates. Why can't I access all Windows 7 functions in normal way, yet I can access them directly by a workaround? I recently found that I could not access the administrator functions for computer management on my home computer. For instance, when right clicking on the main "Computer" icon on my desktop and selecting "Manage" I would get an unspecified error. Going in through control panel I could not access many system admin tools and when I try I get error of you may not "have the appropriate permissions" This applies to "Services" "Component Services" "Computer Management".
Workaround: Today I found that I can open the administrative tool folder in Explorer directly and then right click on one of the management functions and select "Run as Administrator." Then it let's me in OK and I can control things. It's only the usual ways of accessing these controls that I can not now do. This is my personal computer and I'm logged on as administrator, the only account on the system, AND it is telling me I can't access all the files on my own computer's hard drive that you normally use to manage win 7. It's not networked files I'm trying to use but my own Win 7 computer's hard drive, e.g. I get the error when I click on own Desktop Computer Icon and select "Manage."
I keep getting Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found error whenever I try to connect to any other computer (running windows 7 ultimate) on my network. I have another computer with windows 7 ultimate that does not have this problem. Firewalls are disabled on all computers. Computers all ping fine. Can ping by name too. If I try to connect via IP address, I get Error Code: Error0x80004005 Unspecified error.
"an unspecified error occurred during system restore (0x8000ffff)"I made a restore disk on my 64bit Windows 7 desktop for my 64bit Windows 7 laptop because windows stopped loading. Now when I try different restore points I get the same problem. Should I make a new disk? What else could I try?
Quote: I have a normal stock dell desktop with windows 7. I borrowed my grandmothers laptop. It is an Acer Aspire 5736Z-4790 w/ an Intel Processor. Last night after trying to install some files to make some cheat programs I use for an online game (I have loaded same programs 10x on other computers so I doubt its related to the programs themselves) One thing I did do was try to delete a winhttp.dll file in system32 or the WOW one(for 64bit computers? Forget the folders name)and replace it with another one(Directions for the cheats said to make sure that winhttp.dll was in sys32) and while trying to do that windows would not let me so I read somewere that there is a program that lets you "take ownership of a file" so you can override permissions. I then took ownership of sys32 and maybe the 64bit folder as well. It still did not let me replace any files in sys32 so I then restarted and when windows opened again, desktop loaded then an error message came up, then it restarted itself, and repeated, but after the second time it restarted itself windows would not load. After the Acer manufacture screen, just the blank black screen with the blinking line.I have tried everything, cant seem to figure out how to even get it to open in safe mode. Only thing I can think of would be to use the restore disk which I dont have. Is there a way to legally make a restore disk on another PC to be used on the broken laptop?
i have a toshibio satelite model # psc16c02q00m, I've tried to reformat my computer, i have the back up Disk and when i started my computer i press F12 to get the boot bios where i made it boot from disk putting my back up cd#1 into there. it was working fine till i put in disk three, from there i got a F3-F200-002 Error said an error has occurred please press OK to turn off the computer. and that is the only option. ive tried repeating the process but now all i get to is this screen even when i try to but off the hard drive im assuming my windows has been cleaned.

I started a chkdsk on a Windows 7 64bit computer that got stuck at startup repair. Before that though, I was looking around, the damage seems to be the windows files got messed up after an update. My computer data was intact when I looked around booted through a recovery cd and I checked again via a ubuntu live cd. My question is that the chkdsk d: /f apparently stopped in the middle and gave the following message:An unspecified error occurred <6672732e637878>Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50What does that mean? Is it terrible? I just restarted the chkdsk anyway and as of now, it is finding less unreadable segments, but is there a risk of data loss?
When I go to desktop and right click, and choose "Personalize", there comes error "Explorer.exe this file has no program associated with it ..."I had same problem before and found registry fix from net, but then it happened while I was using Win-E buttons. I can open the personalize window from control panel tho.
I am trying to complete my order for a program I ordered and when I press the "complete your order" button I get this error message, "Invalid query recorded FROM IP: 98.221.136.43". I disable Norton software and tried again to order and still got this message.
I have in the taskbar properties "Use small icons", "Group when taskbar is full", and this value changed with regedit: Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktopWindowMetrics] "MinWidth"="40" I want to look like all the icons from Explorer the same, no matter in what folder is at the moment, look like they are all left as the yellow icon entirely. How can I do that?
Just wondering if anyone has discovered a registry hack to get Windows Explorer to show file size in details view as KB, MB, GB as appropriate? FreeCommander has had this option for years.
Sometimes in Windows Vista I have a folder option to view files as a slideshow on the menu bar, Sometimes I do not have that option. I am speaking of the same folder. Under properties/customization I have selected to have them viewed as pictures and videos . I would like to have that option all the time. When I try to change it to pictures and videos and press apply it doesn't work. When I select a file there is no slide show option
On a Windows XP box I used a web design program Arachnophilia. I've now copied the web page files over to a Windows 7 box. I can open web pages using this package but when I save them and go into Windows Explorer they don't show. I have the option set to show hidden files so that isn't the answer. I need to see them in Explorer as I want to amend them then copy them to a different folder.
Looking for any help. System is AMD Dual core CPU, on Gigabyte GA-880GMA-USB3, 4 Gb Crucial Memory, Western Digital SATA hard drive, and Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit. After loading Office 2007, and updating it, I turned system off. This AM, I rebooted the machine and received the message that there was a disk read error and to press cntrl/alt/del. So far, there isn't any results from the attempts I have made to repair or boot the machine, including booting into command console to repair. It shows there is no operating system present.
I am in need of assistance with this one. I'm working on a Toshiba Satellite L455-S5009 laptop and immediately after boot up, right before the spalsh screen I get this error message "ERROR : F3-F100-0010, PRESS OK to turn of Computer" I tried to boot in safe mode, same error came up. I was able to back up all the documents, pictures, data, etc and leaning towards a format and reinstall of the OS. But I want to see if there something else can be done.
I constantly get this error everytime i try to boot up, i also cannot boot from a recovery disc for some reason as i just get the same error. I've removed the RAM and HDD and put them back but i still get the same.
I am working on a MSI CR620 laptop that is running Win 7 HP x64. On start up it says to press F3 for recovery, I have done that and have gone through the recovery, getting the post that windows has been installed completely, and to press ok to restart, after pressing okay, the computer restarts and I get the "Disk read error, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart again. I have ordered a recovery disk from the manufacturer, but I don't have warm fuzzys that it will correct the issue.
I had Vista 64x and Windows 7 build 7057 set up in a dual boot with Windows 7 on a 30Gb partition.
Acting on advice in another thread I decide to shrink my Vista partition and expand my Windows 7 partition using GParted.
That seemed to go ok and I shrank Vista partition to about 400GB and expanded the Windows 7 partition to about a 100GB.
However, I now cannot boot at all. When I try I get "A disk read error occurred. press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart".
When I try this nothing happens and I have to do a power shutdown.
I have attempted repairs using my Vista disk and that tells me nothing is wrong. Likewise I tried repair with my Windows 7 disk with the same result. Both tell me that the system booted succesfully.
I then tried reinstalling both Vista and Windows 7 to their respective partitions and I still get no boot and a Disk read error message.
I have been in the BIOS and tried every boot device option but still nowhere.
I'm writing this from the Asus Splashtop OS that came with my mobo. I thought it was a bit of a gimmick but it might just save me now!
I have an Acer Aspire 5732Z here. A friend of mine had a disk in the disk drive and said that he opened the tray and the disk was no longer there, but actually inside the laptop. He managed to get the disk out but it went fully into the laptop. He did all of this while the laptop was still turned on. I dunno whether it turned off itself or he turned it off after that, but now it constantly comes up with A disk error has occured press ctrl + alt + del to restart on boot upI have downloaded ubuntu and placed it on a disk, and booted the disk up using F12, it goes to a purple screen for a bit, then goes to a black screen and doesn't do anything else
My data hard drive is seen in disk management but does not show in windows explorer.I am using windows seven 64 bits.In disk management the drive shows: Layout: simple, type: basic, file system: NTFS, status: healthy(system-active-primary partition) How can I retrieve my data?
