Disk Error Has Occured Press Ctrl + Alt + Del To Restart?
Sep 4, 2012
I have an Acer Aspire 5732Z here. A friend of mine had a disk in the disk drive and said that he opened the tray and the disk was no longer there, but actually inside the laptop. He managed to get the disk out but it went fully into the laptop. He did all of this while the laptop was still turned on. I dunno whether it turned off itself or he turned it off after that, but now it constantly comes up with A disk error has occured press ctrl + alt + del to restart on boot upI have downloaded ubuntu and placed it on a disk, and booted the disk up using F12, it goes to a purple screen for a bit, then goes to a black screen and doesn't do anything else
After my Gateway LT280u loads the F2 and F12 screen a black screen Follows saying: "A Disk Read Error Occured Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" I have tried and tried again to get it to start.
I am working on a MSI CR620 laptop that is running Win 7 HP x64. On start up it says to press F3 for recovery, I have done that and have gone through the recovery, getting the post that windows has been installed completely, and to press ok to restart, after pressing okay, the computer restarts and I get the "Disk read error, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart again. I have ordered a recovery disk from the manufacturer, but I don't have warm fuzzys that it will correct the issue.
I had Vista 64x and Windows 7 build 7057 set up in a dual boot with Windows 7 on a 30Gb partition.
Acting on advice in another thread I decide to shrink my Vista partition and expand my Windows 7 partition using GParted.
That seemed to go ok and I shrank Vista partition to about 400GB and expanded the Windows 7 partition to about a 100GB.
However, I now cannot boot at all. When I try I get "A disk read error occurred. press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart".
When I try this nothing happens and I have to do a power shutdown.
I have attempted repairs using my Vista disk and that tells me nothing is wrong. Likewise I tried repair with my Windows 7 disk with the same result. Both tell me that the system booted succesfully.
I then tried reinstalling both Vista and Windows 7 to their respective partitions and I still get no boot and a Disk read error message.
I have been in the BIOS and tried every boot device option but still nowhere.
I'm writing this from the Asus Splashtop OS that came with my mobo. I thought it was a bit of a gimmick but it might just save me now!
The laptop is an HP Mini 1000 running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. It was working fine and I turned it on today and the message: "A disk read error has ocurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" appeared on the screen. Pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del just reboots but the same message appears again. F8 won't get me anywhere. Only F9 (Boot Device Order) and F10 (BIOS settings) are available but don't fix anything. There is no way to make it boot or even get to a repair screen or past it. Any suggestions to make it boot so at least I can get to the data and back it up?
My friend just called me up with the error in the topic title, that happened on his Lenovo G550.I've searched for a solution, but all I've seen is "run a data recovery" or "reinstall Windows 7" type of answers.I wouldn't be comfortable opening his computer up.I'm not sure how I would run recovery mode in BIOS or run a simple check for all the Windows 7 necessary files as it doesn't even boot up. (The error shows and that's about as far as it goes, except for BIOS).
I have a Lenovo Edge 14. The machine needed the battery charged, plugged it in, and then got "A disk read error occurred".Checked and reseated hard driveCreated MS Dos Startup disk and gets the same error reading from CD- RomI am trying to run Western Digital's Disk Diagnostic for DOS but cannot get the machine to boot from cd
I just got a brand new custom built pc. It had Windows 7 home premium before on it, and ran fine. When I put my disc of Windows 7 ultimate, it intsalled and on first boot, just crashed and showed " A disk read error has occured. Press ctrl alt delete to restart"
"A disk read error occurred press ctrl alt del to restart windows 7" Above statement is the problem in my system. This appears when the system is booting. How can i repair my system?
I constantly get this error everytime i try to boot up, i also cannot boot from a recovery disc for some reason as i just get the same error. I've removed the RAM and HDD and put them back but i still get the same.
After switching on computer win7 x32 receive the error RPLUD is compressed. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart After switching on your computer received the error RPLUD is compressed. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart on a black screen with white writing when trying to boot into Windows. Also tried to system restore by inserting win 7 disk but its also not happening.I keep getting the following from all the restore points I try."System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computers system files and settings were no changed.
Details:System Restore failed to extract the file (C:) from the restore point. An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x8000ffff)You can try System Restore again and choose a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method. Have had this message on my Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop... Cannot not get into the system at all... I have tried the Dell start-up disk, tried the F8 on intial reboot and nothing is working...
I turned my computer on today. When I checked it some time later, I had an error of messages saying lots of files (mostly .dll) could not be found (or something along those lines). Explorer.exe kept crashing, before a constant bombardment of similar messages came up. After a while, clicking ok to all of them, the computer froze. When I tried restarting, I got the message "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart"

Looking for any help. System is AMD Dual core CPU, on Gigabyte GA-880GMA-USB3, 4 Gb Crucial Memory, Western Digital SATA hard drive, and Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit. After loading Office 2007, and updating it, I turned system off. This AM, I rebooted the machine and received the message that there was a disk read error and to press cntrl/alt/del. So far, there isn't any results from the attempts I have made to repair or boot the machine, including booting into command console to repair. It shows there is no operating system present.
When I start up my sisters computer I get the disk read error. with ctrl alt and delete to restart. I do this and it goes over and over and over again. if I can restart it to normal I get to own the computer. It is an acer aspire 5750G, windows 7. I cannot get it in safe mode because the error pops up! The computer has been overheated alot, as it turns off pretty quickly!!
I turned on my computer today to play a few games and it started to lag like crazy and eventually freeze. So I just turned off the monitor and went somewhere. 3-4 hours later, I came back to discover a message on my screen. It said "A disk read error occured. Please press Crtl+Alt+Del to restart."I did this a few times and the now I'm at a screen with the title of "msi mainboard". Part of the screen is cut off so yeah...

Anyways, after typing all that, I pressed F1 and it brought me to a Windows XP loading screen (must've booted from my hard drive that has WinXP) but now it's stuck on a black screen.
i couldn't get the startup repair to appear on pressing f11 at the time of startup, so that i could restore to factory settings.
1.Right-click on "Computer" icon and select manage.
2.This will launch the Microsoft Management Console.
3.On the left side of the MMC, click on "Disk Management" and it will show you all of the partitions.
4.Right-click on the "HP Recovery" partition and select "Mark as Active Partition."
5.When the warning prompt appears, select "Yes" - Reboot and it will automatically boot into the Recovery Manager (without pressing F11).
And step 5 never happened...instead this is what i got:
BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart on restarting and pressing esc, i get f1 system information f2 system diagnostics f9 boot device options f10 BIOS setup f11 system recovery
nothing works and I don't even have recovery disks((I know I am the dumb)..plus I don't have access to any other windows computer and my hospital software only works on windows?
i'm a bit desperate here! I partitioned my C drive so that I could install windows 7 (which i did and was running fine). i then tried to delete the partition on which vista was still installed (my new partition H drive had 7 installed on it) I was googling stuff online and read that the Boot files had to be copied to the H drive from C drive. I did that and also changed the H drive to Active. I had to restart my computer and upon doing so, i got the error bootmgr missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart. i do that and i get the same error.
I don't even know how i can access either operating system since that error keeps coming up everytime my computer is started. what do i do to get windows up and running again. and i don't have any installation cd of either win 7 or vista (i got a link to download win 7 and vista was pre-installed).
i am a newbie as far as computer hardware is concerned. after struggling for days to install windows 7 onto my new pc which came without and 0s installed,[code] it list the 465 which i use for storage but the 30gb where the 0s is installed dosent show. surely if the hard drive had a problem the 465gb wouldnt show as it an te 30gb makes up te 500gb? i tried selecting the 465gb volume enter and then exiting diskpart then it says BOOT MGR IS MISSING PRESS CTRL +ALT+DEL TO RESTART..so basiclly i have read almost all forums concerning this and followed most of the steps listed above for however mine says boot manager missing or corrupt, wen ever i run start up repair its says start up repair cannot repair this computer automatically.
I just installed a new window 7 ultimate os to my 32 bit system and I doing something with my disk management. I actually delete the 21mb unallocate space in my disk management. After that I do some my work and browse the internet and shutdown the system but when I again starting my computer. It will nor work only a message appear on screen ...
Boot manager is missing .. Press cltr+altr+del to restart... Again and again only this message ...
I try to go boot manager by pressing f2 ,f12,f8 it it doesn't work, only pressing delete button it shows some options. It try to install a new os but it is not reading my cd/dvd or usb. When it check options it shown a massage that they are disable. Some stuff to enable my usb, dvd port or any way to start my system....
I built myself a computer like today and it was working fine 3 hours ago and I shut off the computer. 3 Hours later, I turn it back on, it goes into the screen that says: "BOOTMGR is missing. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to restart". So I searched up some things and it says to put my Windows 7 installation disc in and repair it. But when I go into the repair mode, it gives me the error "the version of system recovery options is not compatible with the versn of windows you are trying to repair".
