Feb 7, 2011In my laptop existing OS is Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
Hardware config is
HP i7 Quad processor 1.7 GHz.
4 GB DDR3 Ram,
500 GB HDD.
My system perf is slow. I installed few softwares. I have deselected most of the startup services and programs from msconfig. Eventhough my system bootup time is slow, and whenever i open mycomputer it taking time to load.
I have decided to install Windows 7 Enterprise Edition x64 by formatting my C drive. But there is no option while i do clean install.

Dec 3, 2012So I need to repair integral Windows files on my install. On XP this was a trivial matter of booting off the XP install disc and selecting the appropriate option. What I never noticed up until now (since I need the option now) is that MS in their infinite wisdom has removed that option for Windows 7 (and i'm guessing probably 8 as well) and replaced with a start-up repair option which is completely useless for addressing my ultimate issue (wifi gui corruption). any method by which one can conduct an actual repair install on Windows 7?

I normally leave my machine in the 'sleep' option overnight. I then use the mouse to resume Windows 7. On a number of occassions I see a power saving box appear with a countdown and then the Lenovo logo appears on the screen with a Windows 7 recovery panel. I then have to re-boot the machine. I have used the help box that windows provides to 'find the cause' after the reboot, but it does not point the way to resolve the problem. I would guess that this fault appears nearly 30% of the time that I try and resume following the 'sleep' option.

Dec 1, 2011I have a Toshiba satellite laptop running Windows 7 64bit and recently it crashed. I fixed it and everything worked fine, except for the Toshiba utility at the top of the screen that allows for shortcut keys such as changing the brightness, switching wifi, etc., by pressing the fn key and a F key. The utility shows up, runs, and works fine, except the wifi option is gone. I tried using fn+F8 (the keyboard shortcut for wifi) and it didn't work.
I uninstalled the utility completely, went to Toshiba's website, entered in my computer's model and re-downloaded it. It works fine again, but still no wifi option. In my status bar, my wifi says it is off and if I go into control panel I can disable/re-enable it but it still won't work. I re-downloaded the drivers for my network card, and have tried literally everything. My laptop does not have a physical switch either, other than the keyboard shortcut that no longer works.
I contacted Toshiba and they directed me again to the same utility which they said has the wifi option, followed the steps through the phone, but the option was still not there. How to bypass this? It seems my network card was switched off and cannot be switched back on no matter what since every way of doing so is gone. Is there any application to bypass it or a wireless radio application to force the radio on?
How To Stop Getting Start Windows Normally Option On Every Boot Up
Oct 2, 2011Occasionally, as this PC is booting up, it asks if I want to Start Windows Normally. I press enter for this. However, if I don't do anything, because I am out of the room, it still goes ahead after 15 seconds. In this case, though, I can't operate any of the programs that come up on Windows 7 home edition. When I click on my Firefox browser for example nothing happens. I then have to reboot the PC (switching it off and on) and make sure I'm in front of the PC to press enter when this message comes up. Then all the programs run as normal. Is there any way of stopping it asking me?

Jan 29, 2012I have 2 hard drives in the same computer, each with its own instance of Windows 7. I must keep these files separate from each other for security reasons - the problem is that each instance of Windows automatically reads the data from the other hard drive.
I am aware that usually the way to fix this is to select the hard drive and click 'Disable' (works fine on one hard drive) - but the other hard drive does not have this option. Is there any other way I can get Windows 7 to completely ignore/disable/uninstall a hard drive? Note that simply clicking 'Uninstall' does not work, since it automatically reinstall itself on reboot.
To sum up:
- 'Disable button' does not exist.
- 'Uninstall' button is useless, since it reinstall on reboot.

Apr 15, 2012My laptop suddenly decided to not run, it gets to "starting windows" but will not go any further. I`ve tried to boot from the OS disc to do a repair but it still goes to "starting windows". If i select "repair computer" at start up without the OS disc it stays at that window and will not go any further, I can`t even get an option when booting from OS disc to format and reload windows. The HDD is spinning so i know it`s getting power. I can run Linux live cd so i`m presuming it`s probably the HDD is fried even though it`s spinning. I even took ouit nthe HDD and connected it to my desktop but the desktop wouldn`t recognise it.
