View 2 RepliesDoes Windows 7 Ultimate-64bits have an installer repair option, as Vista and XP did? I would like to insert the CD-ROM (full retail version), drill down to Upgrade, and, instead of reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate, click on Repair, but I do not see this option on any branch of the installation procedure. Where is the Repair option found, or is it missing from the Windows 7 CD-ROM?My machine is mainly working, but autochk at startup fails and there may be hidden problems that need to be fixed. System Restore (possibly corrupt), Startup Repair (inadequate), sfc /snannow (unsuccessful), chkdsk (inadequate), and a System Repair disk (could not make) are not options. I thus need to use the installation CD-ROM or else download something, if I only knew what. I hope to run a repair utility without resorting to a clean install that would wipe out my hard disk. Please enlighten me.

Now I know this isn't the case. What is the best option for reverting to Home Premium 64 for which I have a legal CD key. When I replaced my HDD I created the Toshiba Recovery disks, I assume these restore me to factory setting including the original installation of windows? Should I put any important files on USB and then run these, just I've heard they don't always work as well as they should.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using a proper Windows 7 Ultimate disc to reload windows via the upgrade option. This is something I have done in the past without problems. I have tried for the last 2 days and after 5 hours and at the point of booting up into windows gives me the message that the upgrade has been unsuccessful and is reloading the previous version. Can anyone tell me why. The original version on my laptop is a legit copy as is the disc I have which is also the disc the copy on my laptop was originally installed from.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba satellite laptop running Windows 7 64bit and recently it crashed. I fixed it and everything worked fine, except for the Toshiba utility at the top of the screen that allows for shortcut keys such as changing the brightness, switching wifi, etc., by pressing the fn key and a F key. The utility shows up, runs, and works fine, except the wifi option is gone. I tried using fn+F8 (the keyboard shortcut for wifi) and it didn't work.
I uninstalled the utility completely, went to Toshiba's website, entered in my computer's model and re-downloaded it. It works fine again, but still no wifi option. In my status bar, my wifi says it is off and if I go into control panel I can disable/re-enable it but it still won't work. I re-downloaded the drivers for my network card, and have tried literally everything. My laptop does not have a physical switch either, other than the keyboard shortcut that no longer works.
I contacted Toshiba and they directed me again to the same utility which they said has the wifi option, followed the steps through the phone, but the option was still not there. How to bypass this? It seems my network card was switched off and cannot be switched back on no matter what since every way of doing so is gone. Is there any application to bypass it or a wireless radio application to force the radio on?
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and now my built in webcam no longer works. I have a Toshiba Satellite L510-016. I am unsure of the webcam model itself as no information seems to pop up for it anywhere on my computer. I have tried installing drivers with no success.
