WET Error - Some Of The Files Might Be In Use

Aug 25, 2010

I am migrating from XP 32bit to Windows 7 32bit. When I run WET to transfer my XP files to Windows 7, I receive an error for every file. None of them transfer. It tells me that it can't continue until I fix the errors. When I view the errors it tells me that "Some of the files you're transferring might be in use. Close your open files and try again or click skip to continue without these files." After numerous failed attempts, I click skip to see what happens. It says "Your transfer is complete." Although all the files didn't transfer, the report says successful. The folders are created, but no files are in the folders. It says "Folder Empty." These are all my files. I need them.

Error 0x80070017 - Expanding Files (0%) - "Cannot Install Required Files"?

Jun 10, 2009

I deleted all my hard drive partitions and formatted my hard drive to wipe it clean. Now when I try to install Windows 7 onto my computer, the DVD boots and the installation begins. The installation will complete the "Copying windows files" task in seconds, but sticks at 0% on "Expanding files" for about 30 seconds. I will then receive an error that reads "Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the application. Error code: 0x80070017".I researched this error but couldn't find a resolution. One suggestion was to download my hard drive's drivers onto a pen drive and load them in the installation, but t also tried installing Windows Vista and received the same problem. The error in this case has nothing to do with the copy. I have used many different Windows 7 builds, many different DVDs, burning at different speeds, all producing the same problemOnly when using the Windows 7 RC disc I was asked to "load drivers" as a requirement.Other builds didn't require me to load drivers.

Cannot Open Wim Files Error?

Dec 15, 2011

i have a asus x5dij laptop its just over a year old so is out of warrenty.i've been wanting to scrub it for a while as i think i had a few viruses on it.at first i realised that the dvd drive was not working (this is twice the dvd drive has gone since i bought it new) so instead of buying a replacement drive for it i decided to buy an usb exsternal dvd drive.i hooked up new exsternal dvd drive & placed 64 bit recovery disc in rebooted it & i get "windows is loading files" with the white line going across underneath.then it asks me to select display language then warns all files & data will be lost & if i want drive partitioned options then click to start recovery process.then when i do click to start recovery process after a few seconds i get a white screen with error in big red text & in top left corner "cannot open wim file".can any 1 give me advise as what i should do now,the only thing i can think of is to replace the laptops dvd drive but i'm thinking if i do that will i get the same error message.

'Handle Is Invalid' Error *only* On .DOC Files?

May 21, 2012

I'm new here, guys, so don't shoot me down in flames if this has been covered. I've checked the search, but didn't come up with anything the same.I've just re-jigged the Good Lady's PC - it had some sort of virus. Wiped it & re-installed Win 7 Pro.Put back most of the stuff that was there & most everything works except anything that's a '.doc' file.Clicking on any one of those produces a 'Handle is Invalid' error & won't start. However, dragging & dropping on LibreOffice starts up the file & it can be edited. Saving it again does not fix the problemOne noticeable difference is that I have gone from MS Office XP to LibreOffice as the old XP was no longer opening some new file being sent to her (choir!).I am wondering if this may be the cause. I have a copy of MS Office 2010 & will try installing that & taking control of the .doc files. I'll see if that fixes it

Error With DVD Files On Networked Folders

Mar 19, 2009

Has anyone noticed a problem with ripped dvd files (ie VIDEO_TS) that are mounted from a networked folder? I get a video error message about missing files and if I press "d" for more info I get the cryptic error:

res://ehres!PlayerDenial.mcml#outofsync

Files needed to display video are not installed or are not

working correctly.

This doesn't happen with dvd files on local disks, only networked folders. I'd like to know if someone has seen this or can reproduce this error. This is on build 7057, but I think it happens on the others as well.

I was trying to write properties to some music files. I have done it before to the same file on vista, but forgot to save so im redoing it. When I attempt to save what I have just entered I get this:

"An unexpected error is keeping you from applying properties to the file. if you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.

I have all updates, and the files are good.

Wmm2clip.dll Error When Viewing Folder With DVD Files

Mar 28, 2009

Whenever I open a folder with DVD Video files (.VOB files, etc.), an error pops up saying wmm2clip.dll could not be found (in the DVD Maker folder). This happens as soon as I open the folder, so I don't know what's happening... perhaps it's trying to create a thumbnail of the video for display in the folder? Does anyone have any ideas? I have not uninstalled Windows DVD Maker (although I've never used it), and I was able to run Windows DVD Maker without any problems.

Network Error - Transfer Large Files

Oct 21, 2009

For some reason I am not able to transfer large files to my Windows Home Server (home build). The file will start to transfer then just stop and error out.

The error message says Network Error: There is a problem accessing serverfolder.

This is on a wired connection so I dont know why it would just be dropping the connection. I can still surf the internet fine during this time.

Realtek RTL8169/8100 network cart, cat5e cable, 10/100 netgear 24 port unmanaged switch, WRT54GL router(tomato firmware). NICs are set to auto negotiate.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I attached a screen shot of the error message and network monitor.

Recovered Files From A Biohd-8 Hard Drive Error

I recently recovered my data from a biohd-8 error. Can someone please tell me which files can I copy back to a hard drive in order for my system to start again and make it useable again. I do not know if any of the files were damaged in the recovery process.

1) If I am able to restart my system by copying these files, will I need to re-activate Windows 7 again?
2) Would I copy the files to the root of the hard drive?
3) I also have the system restore disks that I made a while back, can I use these to install the files into a new hard drive and will windows 7 work?
