View 9 Replies View RelatedI know, should have a backup, I was actually about to create a backup when the flash drive failed on me unfortunately. My newest backup is from about 5 days ago, so I'd prefer to be able to restore the current files.
I moved the drive over to another computer and tried to save a file but when I checked again the file was gone, like it never saved at all. Subsequently, after removing and plugging it back in the computer did not detect the drive (or see it in disc management). It does show up as a generic USB drive in the device manager, but there are no properties for it.
When I add it to a computer, it still adds drivers for it, but then nothing happens after that. It may also be a hardware problem, since the drive fell on the ground pretty hard a while back, but seemed to be working fine. There isn't an easy way to open it up and check.
I also tried using a few data recovery programs, but they couldn't detect the drive either.
How to force format a flash drive? I have an 8gb flash drive and I plugged it in to a speaker that plays mp3 songs. But after unplugged it, my flash drive prompts "Please insert disk" and 0mb in my computer. I tried to view it with disk management and I saw its partition type was RAW.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a 1TB WD HDD a week ago. I copied a bunch of movies in but when I got home and tried to watch the movies in my laptop, the drive is not showing under my computer. I went into computer management and under Disk Management I saw my passport under Disk 1, Disk 0 is showing as my Drive C. I tried to change the drive letter coz I was thinking that was the problem, but it will not allow me to change the drive letter.

A LED at the side of the external hard drive indicates that it is being powered on even though the computer shows no sign of detection (no sound indication; nothing showing up in My Computer). Firstly for my Primary drive i am still running my old 250gb Hard drive (with windows already installed on this drive). Secondly, for my slave drive i have a Samsung Spinpoint 1TB Hard drive that wont display in my bios or in disk management. The 1TB drive seems to spin up fine etc. but i just can get it to display. i can format this new disk. Also i must add that my motherboard is an ASUS p8z68-v-pro board.

Aside from the normal file backup via the western digital software, I have several windows 7 generated iso images of my laptop stored on my external WD drive. Using windows repair disk, my computer does not recognize the external drive to access the disk images. It just asks to insert the last disk into optical drive. My images are on a folder on my external drive. There is no option to navigate to it! This is the first time I've needed to restore an image, and I can't access them! This should be an easy operation that could be started in a few minutes. I have been screwing around with this for more than 24 hours!

I now have 150gb boot section, a 100mb reserve and a 90gb unallocated space. what can I do to remove the partition and combine the space so I have access to the full drive? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been running a Dual-Boot Setup of XP Pro and WIN 7 successfully for some weeks while I get familiar with Windows 7. Recently I have almost exclusively been booting into WIN 7. In this D.B. Setup The booted OS appears as Primary Partition on the C: drive with the non-active OS as "Unallocated Space " on the D: drive. This all happens on the No 1 Hard Drive. No 2 Hard Drive has been partitioned into several Partitions, the First one as a Primary Partition with the remaining Partitions as Logical drives.
Today , when I booted into WIN 7 , there was no sign of the second hard drive and its Partitions even although both drives (Serial Drives) were recognised in the initial part of the Bios screen during this bootup. When I looked in Disk Management, I saw that the first Partition on the second hard drive appeared normally as a Primary Partition but that all remaining space on this drive was shown as "Unallocated Space". I then re-booted into the XP OS . This showed the second hard drive and all its Partitions normally, i.e. with its first Partition as the Primary and all subsequent ones as Logical Drives.
New to the forums and need some help here as I'm lost. I just got my new laptop and noticed that the C drive (O/S) was getting full and wanted to add more space. I deleted the recovery partition of 25GB so I could extend my C partition.
However, I do not have the option to expand my C drive, see the print screen link below:
I also tried using minitool partition wizard which looked to be successful but upon reboot I got an error.
I currently just set up my new build. I decided to go with Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB for my hard drive. However, I split the hard drive into two parts: 2 TB and roughly about 770 GB unallocated space. I installed Window 7 on 2TB partition. Now, I decide to use the rest of 770 GB of unallocated space. I tried to use Computer Management, but it doesn't give me the option to create a new volume from unallocated space. Similar thing happened with EaseUS Partition Master. With Acronis Disk Director, it doesn't even recognize the unallocated space at all!!! So how can I create a new volume or even merge it with my C drive? Do I have to reformat my hard drive and split them again and do a clean installation again?
Note:I already checked, my BIOS recognizes my hard drive with 3 TB. The unallocated space is right after my C drive. There is only 1 primary MBR partition (C drive), and 100 MB system files right before it.
I have a 500GB hard drive that has 2 unusable bits of space. My obvious question is.Can it be fixed so they can be used or is this stuck like this?
