View 2 RepliesI just downloaded the Vista driver for my Nvidia 8500GT , and during install, Nvidia shows it as a "Windows 7 32-bit Driver"...
Did this happen now or was I sleeping all this time?
"When it comes to compatibility, if it works with Windows Vista, it should work with Windows 7. There are no major API changes, which is a critical point: that means that if there's a Vista driver for your hardware, that should work under Windows 7 without issue. That's great news, because driver issues were one of the top frustrations for people moving to Windows Vista with XP-era hardware.
Windows 7 will be more reliable as well - there are some improvements in reliability and self-diagnosis. There will be fewer prompts for user account control for instance, and in fact the default will be at a lower threshold than it was for Vista. There will be more controls for the user regarding account approvals, and it will be more discoverable than it was in the past."
I accidental uninstalled a nvida driver from my control panel. Now everything looks huge. I need to fix it and don't know which version of the driver I need to download to get it back to normal.

It was reported that it is possible to use this driver for the HP deskjet 916C, which I have since 2002. The 916c was the "ALDI" - version of the 920c. I am searching for this driver, but the HP page does not offer me a download.
Also the list in Win 7 does not show me this driver in my German Windows 7 professional SB version.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy system dual boots to either Windows 7 or Vista Ultimate, or, at least it is supposed to. Something happened and now the system just boots to Winodows 7 without giving me the choice to boot to either. When I use F6 I find that only Windows 7 is listed in the Operating Systems box.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNew laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I have two business programs that won't run on a 64bit system. Partitioned the hard drive to install Vista Home Premium 32bit to create a dual boot system solely to run these two programs. Can't get Vista to load. Followed tutorial meticulously. All goes fine until the "Vista will boot for the first time" step. After this first boot, the screen returns to the "completing installation" page. However, the process dies here and the progress bar across the bottom of the screen never moves, even after an hour. Reformatted the partition and started over with same results. Multiple attempts always die after the first boot.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had recently installed windows 7 on my laptop running windows vista. I did not remove the existing windows vista installation, and thus win 7 was installed in a dual boot combination. Now, i want to remove vista from my laptop and use windows 7 only. The problem is that during installation, win 7 was installed on logical drive and windows vista was on the primary drive. Thus, i cannot delete/format the windows vista partition. Also I cannot transfer the boot drive to the partition containing win 7 because the vista partition is the active one.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWorking on a client's computer that was blue screening with Vista 32 bit HP desktop gl309aa. She cannot find the original Vista install CD. I determined that the culprit was probably the wifi driver, and hoped to install updated drivers for that, plus video card and sound card drivers. After much fiddling with the system, I finally got it started through Startup Repair long enough to install the video driver. I had to go through 2 sets of memory diagnostics to start it at all, since even safe mode was not working. When I went to do the sound card driver, it required an uninstall first, so I did that, and foolishly went along with the restart to finish the process. Lacking a sound card driver, it blue screened all over again. Tried everything, including many times with HP Recovery, but every time it blue screens before any process can complete. On top of this, while working on it, she had a power "flash" for a second, and now the system is missing BOOTMGR so it won't even try to boot into safe mode or anything else. I have the drivers on flash but cannot install them. I've decided to forget Vista (awful system anyway) and give her Windows 7 instead. Much more stable, and her data is backed up in case she loses it.
am I going to have any problems installing the Windows 7 if the computer still thinks it has no driver for the sound card? And is there a way to install the file before or during the Windows 7 installation so it will go smoothly? Again, BSOD every time I start HP recovery so there is no way to use that, and we will have a new Windows 7 CD to begin this process.

Can I just install Windows 7 over XP , or should i be careful for MBR,or boot....
I have a legitimate copy of Windows Vista with key codes etc and I have a legitimate upgrade disk for Windows 7. I had Windows 7 installed on a previous system build which had a HD crash and now I am starting again from scratch (wiyh backed up data).
Like a dolt, I installed Wondows 7 before I remembered it was an upgrade edition. I've looked all over the MS site and don't see a method I can use to Activate Windows 7 from this point. way to use my legitimate Windows disks and keys without having to wipe the drive, install Vista and then install Windows 7 yet again.
It's aggravating to have legitimate software and not be able to use it without needing to trick the system - surely there is a way to not have to start all over?
I have currently installed ONLY XP Pro. I used to have Vista Premium installed on a separate partition, But I uninstalled that. I purchased Windows 7 Upgrade disk.
Here's the question, Do I need to reinstall Vista to upgrade to 7 using the Vista key?
I recently bought a new Sata 3 Hard Drive (500gb Sata 3 Barccuda) for my PC. I've downloaded countless Windows 7 ISO's. I have a LEGIT key. After burning it on ImgBurn, Nero and Poweriso at 4x and 3.5 (Can't go lower than 3.5) It gets to the Language setup after 30minutes or so, Than a futher hour to get to driver selectio, but once on driver selection it tells me "No device driver found", I've tried lots of seperate ISO's and even Vista!

I have recently upgraded my win vista 32 bit to windows 7 32 bit home premium. If my comp crashes do i need a vista bootable cd or can i repair it from windows 7 cd which i purchased
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new here and have a couple of questions about upgrading, I searched through some of the update threads and it still seems to be up in the air about whether or not you will be able to do a fresh install from the upgrade disc; I guess this remains to be seen.
One thing I want to do is max out my RAM and go from 32 Bit Vista Home Premium to 7 64-bit either Home Premium or Ultimate I'm still undecided as to which edition but as I'm maxing out my RAM I'll need 64-bit. I've ran the Beta, RC, and RTM 64 Bit on my main desktop and have no problems with it or any of my programs.
I realize going from 32 Bit to 64 Bit will require a full reinstall. If I purchase the upgrade disc will it work going from 32 to 64? I want a full reinstall straight from MS anyway as my restore images are loaded with crap from the Menu but don't want to bother buying an upgrade edition if it isn't going to work.
