He would like it back as he is having connection and signing up problems. What is the point of windows live? He certainly doesn't want a hotmail account.

I have a Vista 32 PC using "Windows Mail" and want to transfer email folders (lots) and messages to Windows 7 using Windows Live Mail 2011.Windows Mail was a replacement for Outlook express on Vista.Windows Live Mail 2011 is a replacement for Windows Mail on Windows 7.I tried a couple of things.
1) Basic Export and ImportI exported relavent files: Account info, Contacts and all the messages to a folder (in Windows Mail format) on old computer and used the old "Addias" transfer - copied folder to stick and RAN it over to the new computer.
- Imported (using the Windows Mail format) the Account info successfully,
- imported the Contact info successfully.
- Import Messages - appeared at first to be successful
Issue: Message folders appear to be renamed and some folder names have been truncated, not all folders appear to be there. (Looks like "long Name folders greater that 8 characters get truncated)
2) Tried the "Easy transfer mechanism (Vista and Win7 transfer utility) - but couldn't get the new computer to see the Vista even though I could see them on the network. I thought that this would transfer the folder names correctly.I'm about to try a time consuming effort of coping folder by folder (export/Import)What I am more concerned about is that the individaul messages may have the same issue Ie not all coming accross and subject names being lost. Looking for alternative or third party transfer solutions?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble finding a working driver for Windows 7 - 64 Bit for a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Audo Card Model# SB0100 I downloaded driver file SBL_PC64DRVBETA_LB_2_03_0005.exe which I think is a 64 Bit Sound Blaster Live! update, but Windows 7 does not allow it to be installed because it is not a digitally signed driver. It also seems Creative is no longer supporting these old cards with new driver updates.
I love the card though. I have bought more recent sound cards and the sound of this card is still much better than the more recent sound cards I have bought. So I would like to keep using it if possible.

Partitioned the hard drive to install Vista Home Premium 32bit to create a dual boot system solely to run these two programs.Can't get Vista to load. Followed tutorial meticulously. All goes fine until the "Vista will boot for the first time" step. After this first boot, the screen returns to the "completing installation" page. However, the process dies here and the progress bar across the bottom of the screen never moves, even after an hour. Reformatted the partition and started over with same results. View 1 Replies View RelatedWorking on a client's computer that was blue screening with Vista 32 bit HP desktop gl309aa. She cannot find the original Vista install CD. I determined that the culprit was probably the wifi driver, and hoped to install updated drivers for that, plus video card and sound card drivers. After much fiddling with the system, I finally got it started through Startup Repair long enough to install the video driver. I had to go through 2 sets of memory diagnostics to start it at all, since even safe mode was not working. When I went to do the sound card driver, it required an uninstall first, so I did that, and foolishly went along with the restart to finish the process. Lacking a sound card driver, it blue screened all over again. Tried everything, including many times with HP Recovery, but every time it blue screens before any process can complete. On top of this, while working on it, she had a power "flash" for a second, and now the system is missing BOOTMGR so it won't even try to boot into safe mode or anything else. I have the drivers on flash but cannot install them. I've decided to forget Vista (awful system anyway) and give her Windows 7 instead. Much more stable, and her data is backed up in case she loses it.
am I going to have any problems installing the Windows 7 if the computer still thinks it has no driver for the sound card? And is there a way to install the file before or during the Windows 7 installation so it will go smoothly? Again, BSOD every time I start HP recovery so there is no way to use that, and we will have a new Windows 7 CD to begin this process.

I did not remove the existing windows vista installation, and thus win 7 was installed in a dual boot combination. Now, i want to remove vista from my laptop and use windows 7 only.The problem is that during installation, win 7 was installed on logical drive and windows vista was on the primary drive. Thus, i cannot delete/format the windows vista partition. Also I cannot transfer the boot drive to the partition containing win 7 because the vista partition is the active one.

I have a legitimate copy of Windows Vista with key codes etc and I have a legitimate upgrade disk for Windows 7. I had Windows 7 installed on a previous system build which had a HD crash and now I am starting again from scratch (wiyh backed up data).
Like a dolt, I installed Wondows 7 before I remembered it was an upgrade edition. I've looked all over the MS site and don't see a method I can use to Activate Windows 7 from this point. way to use my legitimate Windows disks and keys without having to wipe the drive, install Vista and then install Windows 7 yet again.
It's aggravating to have legitimate software and not be able to use it without needing to trick the system - surely there is a way to not have to start all over?
I run a Windows 7 RC (64Bit) Build 7100 Version (German).
So far all Programms & Games just work fine.
The only problem i had was with my Creative Live! Cam Vista IM (VF0420).
I downloaded on the creative website the latest vista 64 bit driver & and programm (called creative live cam center). But when trying to install them, combatibility probs showed up.
Then i found a thread on this Forum how to run a programm in combatibility mode (right click on driver, choose properties and then compatibility. Now you can choose a different OS).
But what i did, is even easier. Right click on driver and click on "troubleshoot compatibility". Now Windows looks for the problem itself and recommended XP SP2 mode (in my case). Confirm. Driver is being installed and settings are saved.
