Downloading Vista's Nvidia Driver Shows Up As W7 Driver

I just downloaded the Vista driver for my Nvidia 8500GT , and during install, Nvidia shows it as a "Windows 7 32-bit Driver"...

Did this happen now or was I sleeping all this time?

After Nvidia Driver Install, Get 'windows Not Genuine'
i was trying to get drivers for my printer. After restart, screen went black. I restarted in safe mode with netwking to find out what to do. So I eventually found out my graphics card had no driver; it had a generic vga adapter. So I search for my graphics card to find it is an Nvidia GeForce fx 5200 and I get the drivers for it.

I restart in normal mode: no success. restart in safe' with net' . starts and am notified that drivers have installed. Now on next restart in normal mode, application error 0xc150002...press ok. Then i get a message in the bottom right hand corner that says 'windows is not genuine build 7600'.

I have seen how to change it with/without cmd, but either requires normal mode.

So how do I re enter my product key?

Win7 Will Not Shut Down And Can't Upgrade NVIDIA Driver
on a recently purchased HP Pavillion Dv7, quad core, laptop I can't get it to shut down and it will not go into standby either when using the Start > Shutdown the system appears to hang with the Shutting Down ... message on the screen. It eventually blue screens with a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE errorThe .dmp files started on 12/20. There is a restore point on 12/20 that I can't seem to get to restore.I tried to upgrade the NVIDIA driver, the driver installation hung and would not complete. Also tried applying the hot fix from KB 977307.

That took a very long time to install, maybe 30 minutes but did eventually complete.I will begin the process of disabling drivers and such next, but was hoping there might be another clue that I am missing. The restore point indicates that some HP software was updated, so, that would seem to be the first thing to disable / reinstall.Thank you,-jdPS: Other than this it's been a great machine and OS. Good job. Best version one of Windows yet.

ERROR: Display Driver Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode Driver
I am running Windows 7 32-bit 7100 build RC. I keep getting this error:"Display Driver Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode Driver Version 181.72(which, Windows 7,will ONLY let me install and run with) stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

This is what my OS(Windows 7 32-bit)has posted in the bottom-right hand corner of my desktop, when Windows 7 backs me out of my game during this crash.

It then has me click on the games icon on my task bar, then returns me to the exact time and spot --which I left from, when it crashed.

BUT, there is a LARGE red "X" posted/displayed on my screen, prior to returning to the actual game. Then; I continue playing, until this occurs again. Which it keeps doing;but, sporatically. NOT in any given area, or time frame.

If someone has an idea/solution as to the actual workable repair/FIX to this error/problem, I would much appreciate it.

P.S.: I am using the most "current" drivers for this operating system. And, I am NOT running with SLI mode "on".

After Installing ATI Driver, Restart But Shows Nothing
I'm still 3 days old to Windows 7 and i had this problem.

I installed the latest driver for Windows 7 for my display card ATI HD3870 and downloaded the driver from the official website.

My problem is, after installing the driver.

The installer didn't prompt me to restart the computer.

But since my notification area didn't appear any of ATI icon so i restart it.

But yet after restarting my pc i still don't see any icon and i went to check program files and i saw ati technologies but inside it i don't see a single item.

It's an empty folder.

So did i went to device manager and right click on my display driver and press update driver but it says I'm on the latest driver already.

Can't Upgrade Vista To Windows 7 Bc NVidia Drivers
I'm having this really weird problem.

I am currently running a GeForce 9500 GT on vista and have tried upgrading to Windows 7 release candidate 1 from Vista. The problem is, Windows 7 doesn't like the Nvidia drivers I have on my system. So I uninstalled them. Completely. Restarted. Tried the upgrade again, and boom! Still can't upgrade because Nvidia drivers / nview desktop manager (yes, that is what it says).

I have literally restarted my computer 20 times, uninstalling, reinstalling and whateverinstalling. I have no idea what to do in order to upgrade to windows 7. The drivers or my actual hardware is not letting me upgrade.

NVIDIA Driver Update For NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT - WDDM 1.0
Every time I try to install "NVIDIA driver update for NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT (Prerelease - WDDM 1.0)" through Windows Update the installation fails. I have the nVidia control panel but the drivers don't seem to work properly when I run games (particularly Warhammer Online).

I have tried the current Vista64 but City of Heroes gets a series of rolling bands that scroll up and down the screen. Is there some other way for me to get the updates properly installed?

Date On New Recorded TV Shows As 'Unknown' On Network PC
I have multiple Win 7 RC machines in a Homegroup.  Each "Recorded TV" folder is included in the library of the other machines.

When a machine records a new TV program, it displays correctly (date, duration) in "Recorded TV" on that machine, but on the other machines it shows in the "Date Recorded" view as a date of "Unknown", the show name displays as the filename, a duration of 1 min and no synopsis etc.

Restarting Media Center or rebooting the PC does not fix the problem.  The problem IS fixed if you remove the folder from the library and then add it back again.

Any suggestions or is this a 'known problem'?

TV Shows 1080i Instead Of 720p, Until A 'reboot'
I've been using 7MC for a few months at least without many problems, but just after upgrading to 7600 the resolution has started acting up.

Say for instance - I come home from work and turn on the TV (the HTPC is always on) and the resolution will be stretched strangely. The TV will show 1080i as the input (it's a 720p TV).

If I then turn off the TV then turn it back on 30 seconds later it will revert back to 720p and the aspect ratio will be normal.

The TV is connected via HDMI to an nVidia card. I have rebooted the PC a couple of times but that hasn't helped. Windows Update is not showing any updates to the display hardware.

Any ideas?

Win7 Won't Go Back To Sleep After Downloading Updates
I have (had) my Win7 Windows update set to download updates and let me choose whether to install them. This morning when I got up I noticed that the Win7 PC was awakened and the only thing that occurred was a download of Windows Defender Updates at 3:00 a.m.  Am I correct in assuming that Win7 won't go back to sleep after downloading updates until they are either cancelled or installed?

Boot Menu Shows Vista After Clean Install
I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate onto my Vista Ultimate Boot Camp Partition (on my MacBook Pro), rather than an upgrade install.

Windows 7 told me that it would move Vista to a folder called Windows.old or something like that.

Fine. After everything was installed, I used Disk Cleanup to delete that folder, and the space was recovered on my partition

But when booting into Windows 7, I get a boot menu that seems to indicate Vista is still there.

So my question is, can I simply delete Entry 2? Or is there other remaining stuff from Vista still on my drive somewhere that I should also delete? What is the drive "Active Boot Partition"?

I wish Windows 7 gave an option to do a clean install WITHOUT keeping the old system around...The whole point of doing the clean install was to get rid of all the accumulated junk and start fresh.

NVidia Go 6,7 W7 Driver
The newest nVidia GeForce Go Mobility Driver supports only Go 8 and 9.

Installing Windows 7 on an old Toshiba Portage S100 for a neighbor today required 2 problems to be addressed.

One was a driver for the SATA drive to be recognized and the second was the video card Geforce Go 6200 TE driver.

A vista driver for a newer Tosbiba model fixed the SATA drive problem but the video driver was not as easy.

Windows Update installed a nVidia Go driver after the clean install of Windows 7 but it resulted in a lot of video corruption.

The driver linked below worked great for the Geforce Go 6200 TE in the Toshiba S100 and will probably work for the mobility cards listed.

display-qf30-vista-715109752l.zip - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

If you encounter a problem installing using the exe file install manually using Update Driver in Device Manager>Display Adapters

If you get a script message from cnet it's because of cookies.

Network Errors, DHCP Errors, Connection Icon Shows 'down'
OK, so I'm running RC1 (7100) x64 as a primary OS, since installing the public Beta a few months ago this is the first thing (that wasn't a minor annoyance) I've been unable to resolve. My network is functional (on the Internet), however I have several problems. Note that this used to be working, I just noticed these problems recently.

- First noticed that my Network Icon in System Tray/Notification Area always showed "No Connection Available" even though the Network was indeed active and working.

    1) Tried disabling IPv6 protocol (as it said 'No network access' anyway) > No change

    2) Tried changing from DHCP to Static IP > No change

    3) Tried disabling EVERYTHING (QoS, Link-Layer Topology, etc) except Client for MS Networks and IPv4 > No change

    4) Tried repeating everything above with ESET Firewall disabled (allow all traffic) > No change
(Note - ESET Smart Security 4 has previously worked completely fine, as well as on the Build 7000 Beta - should I try uninstallnig it completely?)

- OK, so I checked the Event Log > Administrative Events. Lots of junk, so I cleared everything first, then disabled/re-enabled the Network Connection (back on DHCP mode now, which works fine). I also have the IPv6 protocol disabled (unchecked) in the Network Connection properties. Two new Administrative Events were present:

    1) Error; Source: RemoteAccess; Event ID: 20106

        - Unable to add the interface {0AB3D274-28DA-4199-836B-3E554C8FC439} with the Router Manager for the IPV6 protocol. The following error occurred: Cannot complete this function.

    2) Warning; Source: Dhcp-Client; Event ID: 1003

        - Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x001FD097AA83.  The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

OK, just for the heck of it, I right-clicked my Network Connection and ran Diagnose - apparently, "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (DNS server). The computer or service you are trying to reach might be temporarily unavailable". But the Internet is working fine. I don't have any other computers on my Network to File Share with so i'm unsure if it's working, but I also can't see my UPnP-enabled router in Windows 7 (whereas I can in my XP SP3 partition).

Please note that I also have NOT applied any registry "tweaks" or "hacks". All Windows Services have been left at their default configuration too.

Please advise on how I could further diagnose my problem here, i'm out of ideas. It's true that this appears to be mainly a visual glitch, however I am one of those sorts who like to keep my event log errors down to as little as possible.

NVidia Quadro Driver
I have an nVidia Quadro in my desktop here at work, just installed Windows 7 Pro 32Bit (trying all the flavors before rolling out to prospective clients).

I can get multiple displays running but I've encountered a problem that has driven me to the breaking point.

From my onboard VGA, I can get full resolution and a great picture. From my Quadro all I get in dual dispaly (not the full 3 or 4 I want) and when it does display on two screens together, it's mirrored.

The display options are only seeing the monitors and Generic PnP and it detects the two both as monitor "1". Their resolution is stuck to 1024x768.

Here's the stranger part: In my Hardware Profiles, it has 2 Standard VGAs listed in Device Manager and 2 "Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family". One of the "Intel" chip and one of the "Standard VGA" each are showing that the devices could not start.

I've uninstalled the drivers for all 4, rebooted, removed them from device manager and even switched my BIOS to boot from the onboard instead of Auto (Dell BIOS).

To finally confound things more, when I do reboot, guess what displays on the BIOS? QUADRO!

My BIOS obviously recognizes and identifies the card, but 7 is just throwing it down. I've tried the new Forceware drivers as well as every driver nVidia had listed for Windows 7 32bit for every model of NVS Quadro with no avail, it just says that no matching hardware is found.

Can this be addressed and fixed or should I just start getting rid to roll over clients video cards like crazy?

Nvidia Driver Problem
I was playing a game while my pc froze. So i restart my computer directly and while my pc boots i see messed up graphics for my hardware logos. This confirmed me, even before my pc started, that something had gone wrong with my 3d card.

As windows booted up i log into 800x600 resolution (not what i use). Then i find out from Device Manager that windows is stopping my XFX 9800GT display adapter. Exact error was "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

This is what i have tried so far:

1. Removing display drivers from Add and Remove Software and reinstalling them manually. Did not work. Driver installs ok but it still says that "stopped" message in device manager.

2. Letting windows update download the driver. Which it did, but after it was not installed. Got an error message "code 80070002".

3. Tried Driver Sweeper in safemode and installed drivers. After restarting getting same error in device manager.

Problem im getting is that now most of my other pc software is not working, like firefox, windows messenger etc. It just says ABC.exe has stopped working. Plus any kind of text is now slightly hazy. Like water dropped on ink writing. But i guess that is to be expected when there is no video driver installed.

By the way im using Windows 7 Home premium 32 bit.

What do?

Display Driver Nvidia Kernel
I recently installed windows 7 ultimate and i have some serious issues with it.

at first when i installed it, and it booted for the first time into windows i got the BSOD everytime, only way i got passed it was to boot up with driver certification disabled. i was finally able to boot into windows 7.

First thing i noticed was that everything responded very slow, if i clicked the start button it took up to 5 seconds for it to respond. still everything acts very slow.

so after a while i got the error "display driver nvidia windows kernel mode driver 195.39 stopped responding and has recovered succesfully"

so my screen starts to flicker black, and i get the BSOD once in a while. I can't run the performance test because my system freezes up. i tried upgrading/downgrading nvidia drivers, installed direct x disable aero and so on, ive done alot of research on the web but i can't find any solutions to it.

Irritating Nvidia Driver Issue
in a bit of a pickle here, having installed my GPU drivers (8600GTS) about 2 months ago onto 7057, i used i believe 1.81 drivers (Cant remember exact number) for vista 64.

that lasted fine up untill about 2 weeks ago where my PC would randomly freeze and my screen would become filled with what appears to be text randomly mashed together vertically down the screen, requiring a manual reboot.

I then installed Nvidias latest drivers designed for Windows 7, and now the problem happens a lot more frequently than it did!
