Use "USB Modem" (3G) For Internet And LAN (Ethernet) At The Same Time?
Oct 7, 2011
Where I work, need to be connected to the LAN (Ethernet) in order to access remote servers, however these networks do not have Internet access. To access the internet I use a "USB Modem" (3G).Question: I want to use the "USB Modem" (3G) for Internet and local area network (LAN) (Ethernet) at the same time.Problem: Windows 7 not let me do this, since when I plug the "USB Modem" (3G) the LAN (Ethernet) is disconnected.Note: They suggested me to create "a bridge" between the two networks, but this option is not available even if I release all shares in connection "USB Modem" (3G).
I have windows 7 64 bit Asus computer with realtek PCIe GBE family controller Tuesday I had internet. Went to load a programand it wanted to reboot and do chkdisk. When it booted back up no internet. It is a DSL Motorola modem through At&T The Ethernet light does not come on. At&T tech support said it was the modem and sent a new one but still having the same problem. The indicator lights on the back of thecomputer are blinking so at least there is power to the card?
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110, Intel core 3 processor, and Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit os. I have recently reinstalled windows 7 from the windows 8 os. I can't access my wireless internet, I can only get to the internet via hard wire. I have searched Dell and Intel for the network controller driver and the sm bus controller driver, but to no avail.
A few days ago i was trying to connect my laptop to my ps3.To do this i was changing setting etc but never got it to work anyway. The next day i turn the computer on and can't connect to the internet.I think it was something to do with dns.I uninstalled and reinstalled my usb modem and software and always get full connection bars and says its connected, but in the bottom right hand corner it says network "no internet access" with a yellow triangle over it.It was because i was changing all of the settings in network and sharing senter, but being the wally i am, never wrote down the original settings. Whatever i did i am fairly certain i did it in the change adapter settings.
In our office we have our PC's connected to our inter-office network server via the Ethernet ports (Local Area Connection) with a hard wire to a hub, that in turn runs to our server. We also each have a wireless internet connection on our PC's via a USB wireless adapter. When we were using XP this was not a problem to have access to the server AND the internet at the same time.
When my PC died last year I bought a Dell Inspiron 560 slim tower with Windows 7 to replace my XP machine. The first problem I ran into was that I could no longer use the wireless internet connection AND the hard wired connection to our server operating at the same time. If I stayed connected to our server, I will not have a wireless connection. If I go into the "Local Area Connection" properties and "disable" the connection, I almost instantly get my wireless connection back. The big issue when doing this is if I leave our database program (ACT!) open while the server connection is disabled, I have to shut down ACT!, then restart it before I can connect it to the server. If I try to without closing and reopening it I get all kinds of errors.
So, in the mean time, I have just put a shortcut on my desktop that allows me to enable and disable the Local Area Connection when I need internet access.
A couple days ago, my boss's PC grabbed a virus that slipped past McAfee (that program is now gone!!) and really hosed up his PC. He bought the Windows 7 upgrade software and wiped the hard drive and installed Windows 7. He is now having the same issue as I am.
For what it's worth, he is using a Belkin Wireless-G USB wireless adapter, and mine is a Netgear Wireless-N USB adapter.
Is there any way we can have the two connections operate at the same time like they did in XP? It really becomes a pain sometimes when we are on the phone with a client and we need to jump back and forth between info that is online, and info that is on our server that we access through ACT!.
I have a question about sharing my Internet. Ok my internet provider sends me some analogue signals, my modems gets them, converts them to digital signals and then, sends this Connection to where it should go (I mean I can use this connection using e.g. wifi). I have a vpn connection. I wanna use it on my mobile. My mobile doesn't support vpn configuration. So somehow I should send the vpn connection from my pc and modem. How can I share the internet I am using in my pc using my WiFi modem?
The problem with Windows 7 and an USB 3G modem is that everytime I use it it creates a new connection, and next time I plug the modem in it will be like "Internett Modem Connection 11" and in the connection list I got many of them, how can I prevent this issue? And can I delete some of them by any chance?
In order to change my password a service provider had to reset my modem.I can go on the internet with my desktop, but I am having difficulties going on the internet with my laptop. It seems that my wireless router has to be reset also but he can't do it because it's not one of theirs. He did explain to me though that I have to put the I.P. address into the browser in order to get on the router's brand name and so on, which I did but I don't know what to do next. My router's I.P. address is 192.168.0.1 It is a NEXXT Nebula 150?
My high speed modem locks-up frequently and I have to reboot the modem and computer. The modem was checked out and it's okay. Is there something in windows7 or my computer harware that could be doing this?
I've just bought a new router-modem (lynksys x2000) to replace my old modem. After going through the setup(by using quick install guide CD-ROM provide with router-modem), i've got no internet connection. My laptop can connect to the router-modem but not the internet.Do my new modem have its own firewall?(I know my laptop firewall is running). Do i need to disable the firewall? If yes, which one should i disable, my laptop of modem.
I have an Acer Aspire 5740G and for some reason it hasn't allowed me to install my new wireless internet usb stick. I have an older usb stick already installed that I use, but it won't let me install this new one which works fine on my PC.
When I plug in the usb stick it makes that beep beep noise to indicate it detects the device but when I go into my computer the device pops up and then suddenly disappears.
I have my new HP eprint printer installed on my PC however when I plug the usb cable into my laptop after installing the CD it won't connect. This is during the setup when it says "connect usb cable" or whatever - but NOTHING HAPPENS!
I am using Internet Modem USB Stick with my computer. My computer is Windows 7 Professional. I have a problem with removing the Internet Modem USB Stick from the computer. When I insert the Internet Modem USB Stick into my computer and then I wish to remove it, I really can't do so. I, however, can remove the Internet Modem USB Stick from the computer easily in Windows XP.I think it will reduce my Internet Modem USB Stick Lifetime and there probably should effect my computer lifetime if I try to remove the USB Stick without allowing to reject.
basically I've just moved house and the internet isn't working. We have a modem that's connected to a pc with an Ethernet n there is a laptop co-nected wireless. Connections between comp n modems are good but modem to internet isnt. When loading ie or Chrome a message comes up 105 unable to resolve the servers dns.
just built a computer installed Win 7 Home Prem 64 on it.Booted, loaded drivers, updated drivers w/usb key and laptop.Slow (4 to 5 kb/s dl) internet speed. Did some messing around, had it at normal speeds after messing around (windows updates installed).Hooked up to my Siemens 567, will not connect to internet.Hooked up to my DIR-655 router, will connect at slow speed.Home is brand new, CAT6 Wired, previous Vista machine worked flawless on this Cat6 jack. Wifi works on laptop just fine. (also vista).Bought a network card, same situation so that rules out my computer hardware and leaves the OS and Router/Modem.I am pretty darn good at computers but this is making me lose sleep and is turning me into a bad fiance.
whenever i try to view video on Internet or any flash my windows 7 machine disconnects the huawei modem (even with updated drivers and firmware) and thus also the internet access. non-video internet works fine. the very same modem don't disconnect during video-viewing when installed on another machine! what to do?
my newly built pc only connects to the internet when directly connected to the modem. when connected to the Linksys WRT54G, the internet does not work and there are no status lights on the ethernet port on my computer. however all other computers and devices, wired and wireless, all work with the router. my new computer is the only one that doesnt work with the router.
1. reset the router and the modem
2. updated all drivers
3. checked to make sure the cable is good and the port on the router is good (they're both good, i use this ethernet cord and router port for my xbox and it works fine.)
4. DNS and DHCP are enabled
5. i've worked on this crap for 3 days now so ive done a lot more trouble shooting than this, i just cant remember everything.
internet connecting thru modem but unable to access web page dns - error, I have a Internet connection by the Lan provider, If I connect thru his connection it works but If I connect thru Data Card - In network section I find that there is no "internet connection". But the modem showing the connection. If I try to open any webpage it gives DNS error or web page not reachabl
My desktop (windows 7 ultimate 64bit) has been able to connect fine to the internet until I got home from work this morning. My laptop is connecting to the same modem fine through wireless (along with my wii). The modem I am using is Motorola SB 901. When I rightclick my connection on my desktop and hit troubleshoot problems, I get 'local area connection 2 doesn't have a valid ip configuration'. Same thing happens when I switch the ethernet cord to local area connection 1. When I go to control panel, network and internet, network and sharing, the connection map at the top stops between my pc and the network (which is now labeled as 'unidentified network'). Here is a list of what I have done so far to try and resolve the issue:
1. Replaced the ethernet cord with one I know is working
2. Full scanned my pc for viruses
3. Disabled all firewalls and virus protection programs
4. Restored my pc to a previous save state
5. Reset winsock with cmd via these prompts: netsh winsock reset catalog and netsh int ip reset reset.log hit
6. This attempt is unfinished as I am getting stuck. I am attempting to setup a static ip to attempt to resolve the issue, but when I open cmd and type ipconfig/all, the default gateway under my local area connection is completely blank. Here is what comes up with ipconfig/all:
C:UsersPaul>ipconfig/all Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Paul-PC Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
I have just updated an old PC, which was working OK, to windows 7 professional. All seemed to go well, but I cannot contect to the internet via ethernet, In device manager it says the ethernet drivers are missing.
I have a Toshiba with Windows 7 and I was able to connect to my internet wirelessly and then I went through my computer deleting many things and now i can't connect to my router without an ethernet cable.
I've got two computers in my room: a Toshiba laptop and a desktop computer (both running Windows 7) I built a few months ago. The laptop gets great wifi reception, 4/5 bars, while the desktop struggles to get one bar. I want to connect the laptop to the PC via Ethernet and use the laptop's Internet connection. I'm having troubles doing this.
Here's what I've done thus far:Disabled the desktops wifi. Enabled "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" on the laptop's Ethernet card. Plugged in the cable.
This is where I hit the brick wall. On both computers, it comes up as "unidentified network". I try creating a homegroup on the desktop, but I encounter an error "Windows could not set the network settings" and "You can try to change this setting later in the Network and Sharing Center." I look in the Network and Sharing Center, and it says "Homegroup: Joined" as if no error occurred at all. So I try to join the homegroup on the laptop. It says "Larry from LARRY-PC has created a homegroup" so it recognizes it, but then it says "Windows could not setup a homegroup on this computer" when I try to put in the password.
I start the HomeGroup Troubleshooter, and it troubleshoots network problems. After that, it says "Local Area Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration: Fixed" So then I try joining it again, and get the same issue. I go through the HomeGroup Troubleshooter again, and I click "the problem is not fixed" and get a list of problems I don't have.
For some reason my router and modem will not show correctly on my dell inspirion one desktop. Im running windows 7 and here are the net work connection deatils

The Connection was working about ten days ago and then suddenly stopped and read as an unidentified network no internet access. at one point is was not receiving packets but now it is but it still says no internet access on the IPv4 Connectivity. Media state is also enabled and the speed is 100.0 Mbps when i troubleshoot it says windows cant identify problem but in the details it says default gateway is available. when i use the cmd prompt ipconfig/all my local ethernet adapter has a physical address of all zeros.
My girlfriends parents have bought a new compaq laptop with windows 7. Connected up to the internet by cable & wireless no problem. Yesterday couldn't do either and found it nearly impossible to get into the routers settings to check them. Kept saying limited access. I've tried various things to no avail. Then I noticed that my iphone could connect to the router, so I ruled out a router problem. I brought the laptop home and it wouldn't connect to our router, so I'm presuming it's a settings problem. But now I'm stuck!
I'm a 3g dongle to connect to the net, I previously set up the ps3 to connect through same via the wired connection. That work fine for a bit, until I updated the firmware, Since then the PS can't seem to obtain an IP address and after setting a static IP it gives me a DNS error. On the flip side, my LAN is giving me a no internet access problem(ipv4) and also an unidentified network
I've changed the cable, released and renewed and reset the ipconfig and also flush DNS. I'm having the same problem with my laptop. Both were able to share the connection with the PS3 before.
I want to connect my laptop to desktop to share internet. I want to share my laptops usb modem internet connection with my desktop using lan I had gone in the properties of my usb internet connection and then selected to share it with lan under share tab. but on lan adapter of both the computer it says unidentified network share my usb modem connection with the lan. I am having crossover cable to connect pc to pc both are running windows 7 ultimate 32bit.
The university I attend doesn't allow modems and routers, but me and my roommates desperately need wifi for our devices, otherwise they are being wasted sitting around. today I set up an ad hoc connection on my roommates laptop, but he brings his laptop places and when he's out, we have no wifi. I have my desktop computer, and I can leave it on all the time and I never leave with it, so I'd love to set up wifi on it, since it will be so much more convenient.I brought my router from home, and ive gotten it to send out my computer's internet connection, but it brings me to the school's registration page, which I can not use, since routers are not allowed. Is there a way to use my desktop's ethernet connection and send out that internet connection through my router (it also needs to bypass the school network, somehow fooling it that my router is my computer (im guessing))?
So pc is working fine I unplug ethernet cable into laptop to access internet on it,works fine, put ethernet back into computer and now there is no access to the internet. The internet still works as I checked it by plugging it back into laptopThe pc is working all software etc. but there is no internet accesswhen internet works on laptop it says public network but on pc network is unidentified and i can't change it. I tried making a new connection but it asks for username and password and I've never done anything like that. Should i type one in and that creates the password etc. or would i need to have one to create it. I don't really know what the network thing is all about I'm a newb on that part.eI tried network trouble shooter and that didn't help either.
