View 1 RepliesI have an HP xw8600 on which I am trying to install and format raid 0. My boot drive and OS use the on board controller. This raid is on a 3rd party card (3 Ware 9550SXU-12). I am using this board for its supposed speed over my on board LSI controller, which is capable of raid with only 2 ports. I have used the Bios level utility from 3 Ware to set up the array of 2 Samsung 103F3 1 TB drives in raid 0. The 3 Ware utility says these are now 'exportable' meaning available to Win for formatting.I go to Diskpart, making sure I am an administrator, and can view, select and partition the drives. When I go to format however I get and error message that the format has failed. I checked the system event log and it says: ChipStatus=16807000 (PCI parity error) The event log mentions that it was the 3 Ware that generated it. The drivers for this board are loaded and under device manager it functions normally. I have seen some posts that say this might be a driver error. I have the latest 64 bit driver for this board.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I use a commercial software like Drive Scrubber to clean my HD, will a Win 7 Upgrade Discboot ? I want to eliminate any possible virus/malware. Is there any advantage to using commercial software to format, or is the reinstall format listed in the tutorials as effective? My concern is that Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 (KIS) had corrupted data bases and after removal and reinstallation did not perform well. I could not download anything, e.g. CCleaner and received Certificate Error questions on certain websites. Also, I would like a fresh registry to insure previous programs like Chrome, Firefox, KIS, remnants are eliminated.

Does a quick format simply rewrite the FAT and a full format write 0's to the sectors? The reason I ask, is that I am concerned that the Linux Ext4 formatting may leave artifacts which I can do without. So, bite the bullet and go the long route, have lunch and a nap or take the quick way out?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a 1gb Pendrive, used to work.. but it spewed up 'Corrupt files' errors, and then finally gave up completely. It won't open, and asks to format it, I've tried every option it gives me but it won't format.. Supposedly, it's got 0 bytes of space, but on Disk management, it's 969MB RAW format, but it's a healthy primary partition. Formatting isn't doing anything, so.. It's pretty important! I need the USB to flash my BIOS, which will then unlock my CPU settings (It's a modded BIOS Btw.) so I can Overclock my E6300. So.

I have 4 partitions on my hdd. 1st is system. 2nd is C. 3rd is D/recovery. 4th is hp tools. Should I format the entire thing first or just parts of it or leave it be and let the installation program handle it? This is the first time I've done this. I actually ran the setup.exe from the USB stick after the computer was already running. It asked where to put the OS. I specified "c" and left everything else in place, but I wanna know which is better...what I did or full format followed by booting from stick.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just recently built my newest creation and stumbled upon this error when attempting to format my C drive. These are the specs:
AMD Phenom II x2 555
Gigabyte 6850 Radeon
Gigabyte MA770T-UD3
4GB Ram
and finally 1TB Seagate internal HDD
This is the whole error:Windows can't format C "Check to see that the disk and drive are connected properly, make sure that the disk is not read-only, and then try again. For more information, search Help for read-only files and how to change them."When I enter BIOS it sees the drive without issues. It does, however, see it as an IDE although it's a SATA. Is that a big issue? i don't see SATA drives anywhere on the BIOS. Back to the issue. Have any of you encountered this specific problem? If so, how'd you get around it? I tried setting the drive as primary, switched it from SATA slot 4 to SATA slot 0 and then slot 1 but no luck, always the same error.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAlmost every Windows application that tries to deal with my new Blu-Ray drive via a Windows dialogue insists on trying to format the BD-R disk first.
You can't format a BD-R disk, it's write-once and formatting would effectively destroy the disk, at $4 a pop.
BD-R disks don't need formatting, those applications that can handle them properly and independently do just fine without formatting.
If I tell it "no, don't format the thing", then Windows insists there's no disk in the drive.
How can I tell Windows 7/64 SP1 to quit trying to format BD-R disks, and recognize them correctly?
SO, problem is: I got this USB, it worked very well 'til some days ago. I can't format it, no matter what I try, e.g. formatting it using different formats, formatting it using Computer Management, formatting it in safe mode. None of these things seem to work for me, and I have no idea why. There's also something else to it: before it became unusable and not format-able, it was somewhere around 4GB, and now, when I want to format it, it gives only the option to format it using the capacity of 12.5MB, which doesn't work anyway. I've tried looking at unpartioned spaces in it, but there aren't any, so I completely have no idea how to go through this problem.
