Upgrading To I3-3220 Ivy From I3-2100 Sandy, worth It?

Oct 7, 2012

i can't find anything solid when i looked it up on google. Every forum i saw was BEFORE the release of ivy i3's and they are simply speculating but even then they say it is 10% faster.Anyways,i can sell my current i3 2100 which i bought barely 2 months ago for about 106 US$ and get an i3 322- @3.3Ghz for about 129$. The question is,should i? Previously i had an Asrock Extreme 4 gen motherboard and it had a few Pci 3.0 slots and everywhere i read it said that all supported GPU like 7770 will give twice the performance on 3.0 slot IF the processor was Ivy. Im always looking to experiment with these things, ive tried countless GPUs,CPU's and motherboards in hope's to find that perfect build which will cost the LEAST for a new PC gamer and give maximum performance . I think this might just be it. Even with the 2100 it never "bottleneck'ed" my system,it was always my GTX 460 which was lacking.
Anyways need your opinion, and would LOVE to hear from someone who has actually had experience with both or at least the i3-3220 processor. My current system is as mentioned in my profile, what im hoping to build is:

i3-3220
Any motherboard good for Ivy bridge processors
8GB (2x4GB) Crosair XMS3 DDR3 1600Fsb Ram
either 7750 or 7770 depending on the availability and budget left

Nvidia Msi 560 Sandy Bridge

Aug 10, 2011

i have just built a new rig and i'm having a couple of problems. as i said in the title i have a msi 560 on a asus p67 mobo with a intel i5 2500.i've had the computer for about 2 months now and a few days ago, when i started the computer, a message saying "disk read error, push ctrl + alt + delete" came up. i restarted my comp' a few times and it eventually booted. then today the same message came up and i went through the same process and i got the computer to boot again.this i could deal with however, my computer now has been on for about 16 hours (no big deal) but now it wont play Internet videos and huge artifacts and random triangles and things com up in games like battlefield bc2. the reason i put the time up here is that when i first started the computer it was doing video things fine.

Sandy Bridge E3 Xeon Vs I7 Core Comparison?

Jul 2, 2011

I've been comparing the specs on the following processors and as a non-gamer the Xeon processors look very attractive. What I like is that Intel offers the choice of a Xeon 80 watt non-graphics processor versus it's 95 watt on-board graphics processor. It would have been nice if Intel offered that same choice in it's Core line. Many users prefer a PCI graphics card and don't use the on-chip graphics, so why not a choice, like with the Xeon line?

HP Printer LaserJet 2100

Jan 6, 2010

I am connecting a laptop running Windows 7 64bits to a HP printer LaserJet 2100 on a Win NT server through work-group network. Here are my problems.

1) Problem when connecting Wireless to the network

--All other computers (running XP & 98s) are connected through hub to router to the server.

--This laptop is the only one connecting wirelessly right now.

--Laptop can not see any computers in the same network However can connect Online.(since can't see other computers thus can't connect to printers.)

Q: how can I make them see/connect to each other?

2) Problem when connecting via LAN to the network

--Laptop now can see all the computers in the network and can access the files

--However when trying to ADD Printer from network still unsuccessful. Here is what I did:

Device & Settings --> ADD Printer --> ADD a network printer --> (found the printer on network and clicked on NEXT) >> Driver Not Found

Then I tried to locate the driver manually to the driver downloaded from HP's site which updated recently in Dec. Here is the link still can not find the right .INF file to install.

It seems the Laptop doesn't know what exact .INF file it is looking for and thus failed to install.

Q: How to Connecting Windows 7 to HP LaserJet 2100 on Win NT ?

Any reply/answers to both Scenarios would be greatly appreciated. (this issue troubled me for a while now would really like to have some solution)..

10 Reasons Why It Is Worth The Upgrade To Windows 7

Aug 27, 2009

As any new version of Windows, one of the questions which puts any user is "what brings new?",and "Is that worth the upgrade?". And rightly so. Not all new versions bring lots of news and important enough to convince the user or a specific company to invest in upgrade. At Windows 7,Upgrade subject is more sensitive because it comes after Vista, an OS that simply "did not work" for some people.

Windows 7 doesn't comes with revolutionary ideas. Moving step from Vista to Windows 7 is not as big as the one from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, for example. Some people see in Windows 7 a kind of service pack to Vista, which, on the one hand, it is true. First care for those at Microsoft was to Windows 7 image don't look just as rumple as that of Windows Vista. The second was to Windows 7 don't take Vista's problems. Finally, only the third plane had located new functions.

Yes, there are sufficient reasons why it deserves to upgrade to Windows 7. Here are 10 of them, perhaps most important: Read more at the forum...

Worth Trying To Upgrade RTM With PartyPack Ultimate ?

Oct 6, 2009

Does anyone think it might be possible to upgrade the RTM by doing a Repair/Upgrade install with the disk (comiing tomorrow!) for the Windows 7 Ultimate Signature Edition given to Launch Party givers?

It IS the same version (with some possible goodies thrown in) and a repair (upgrade over itself) install does overwrite the code while saving programs/settings, so ideally it would reactivate using the Sig Edition license key and be able to preserve my RTM installation which I like a lot.

Worth Partitioning Virtual Hard Drive?

Feb 8, 2012

I have 4 physical hard drives, 2 of them are 150GB and 2 of them are 1000GB. Both are mirrored at the pre O/S level in order to provide redundancy. On the 150GB mirror I installed the host operating system (Win Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V) and the 1000GB mirror is just a Data drive. I've created my Virtual server in Hyper-V and allocated it 500GB from the 1000GB mirror. When I start up the virtual Server in order to install the o/s I will be asked whether to partition this "Virtual hard drive" i.e., have a C: drive for the virtual o/s and a d: drive for the virtual data. Of course they would be on the same physical disk anyway so should I bother partitioning the Virtual 500GB drive.

Ivy Bridge 3570k Versus Sandy Bridge 2500k

Windows 7 Recovery On HP Touchsmart Tm2t-2100 CTO Setup Freezes Check AC?

Aug 5, 2012

It is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit application. June 2012 it crashed. Since I am a teacher, I needed my laptop to recover quickly. The system would not recognize my recovery disks so I had to order disks from HP. The disks arrived but when I began to rebuild the tablet I killed the process at 12 hours because it seemed ridiculously long. ( My prior career I was a system project manager...so I am no strager to computers and software installations.) My quick solution was installing Windows 7 Home premium and then downloading the custom installtions for my HP tablet off the HP site. This was required to finish the school year. July 2012 I began attempting to rebuild my laptop correctly. I found, through HP forums, their installtions take 16 hours before you get to the windows setup screens. In the midst of this process my battery also seems to have completely died.I have tested that it is the battery: AC Power glows steady white when battery is removed and system boots.

Put the battery back in and the light blinks orange the whole time. Battery test shows it cannot recognize a battery. So....when I tried to install the first time with battery still in, 16 hours later HP recovey processed, and Windows setup began. It made it through preparing software installation, installing software, customizing software, and stopped at "Checking AC Power." The second time.....I tried to install I removed the dead battery. This allowed the power led to stop blinking orange and be steady white glow. For this test the system made it through preparing, and installing, but hung at customizing software.Third try now....battery back in hangs again at Checking AC Power. It has been here for 8 hours. The HP site also indicates that the WIFI radio needs to be on for installation. Mine is and glows white.

Any remedies for how to complete the installation, through checking ac power where it is hanging, and then initate and complete the installtion verification would be great! While I can install my full clean version of Windows 7, it would be preferential to install with the HP customizations specific to this laptop. Here is a link to the customer forum for the inordiantely long recovery process on the HP side: Installing from HP Recovery CD,nstallation freezes at %12 - Page 11 - HP Support Forum
