The yellow bar with the "update" message pops up on some sites, but not all sites. I hesitate to do updates on things I don't understand, so I'd like to get rid of that annoying popup.

But starting today a Message of my "USB Device being unrecognizable" kept popping up.It is always my Razer DeathAdder mouse that dies in the process. I checked the Device Manager and under "Razer Device" It has the "Virtual HID Minidriver" with the computer and question mark icon at the bottom right of the computer icon. Does that mean it's the problem? This is the image of the message:

If I make slight changes to the mouse, like adding advance functions for my extra buttons on the mouse, the mouse will die and not work until I unplug and plug it back in. Now the system had deleted that old restore point and now I do not know what to do to enable the system to browse. The internet status will indicate connected but will not browse.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI remember a few years back, when I used Windows XP, that driver updating was sort of troublesome -- sometimes you had to completely remove the older version of the driver to install the newer, and so on.
But.. once I installed Vista, I never really had to deal with that. My NVIDIA drivers always updated properly without uninstalling them first.
Now, I hear people still using programs that entirely erase all traces of a previous driver.. why do they still use those? I don't believe you have to use them anymore to update drivers..
If you install, for example, the latest NVIDIA driver -- the installer erases the previous driver from your system, then installs the new driver.
I think people are living in the past when I hear: "I'm uninstalling my current drivers right now, then I'm gonna run a sweeper to erase all traces of it. Then I have to reboot, and install the updated driver. Then reboot again."
I get a message that I cannot install Windows 7 uograge to my HP laptop which is running Vista. I get a messsage that files are missing but no explanation of what files are missing.
View 1 Replies View Relatedhad a virus last year with an underlying update problem. the virus got sorted but i was told the only way to sort the update was to reinstall windows. basically every time the laptop was turned off it was have to reinstall all the updates as they dont seem to save when it shuts off. i left it at the time as it was only 25 or so updates. it is now at over 90 updates and i am missing some security updates. when i try updating manually it comes up with code 80071A91-windows update encountered an unknown error.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a brand new Touchsmart 300z running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. I set up Windows Media Center, and added Mediabrowser for better TV show support.
Mediabrowser sometimes behaves normally, other times it gives me an INVALID APPLICATION unable to launch Mediabrowser error. I usually don't get the error when I first launch Mediabrowser. I usually get it (only sometimes) when entering one of the media collections, trying to play a video (again, only *sometimes*), trying to save settings, etc. The crazy thing is, sometimes it works.
It does seem to consistently give me the error for some video files. For others it might give me the error *sometimes*. Sometimes I can play the file without problem, other times I get the error.
All files play correctly in native Media Center, in the Touchsmart software (which also doesn't support TV series collections very well), and WMP.
Thinking this might be a video-related problem, I also installed Heatwave, GameEx, and mcShoutcast. Heatwave also gives me this error -- SOMETIMES. mcShoutcast and GameEx seem to always give the error. For kicks I also tried TunerFreeMCE - always gives the error.
I have tried various things like manually deleting caches, changing permissions for the ProgramData folder for the plugin to allow everything from the user profile that I log in with to run Media Center... Nothing has worked.
Yet I can use the native Media Center capability for videos, music, Internet TV, etc.
Basically, the upshot is that NO PLUGINS WORK CORRECTLY. I suspect that it is at least partially due to x64, based on the fact that when others have had the same errors that could not be resolved using the normal fixes, they were x64 also. Seems like the 7RC had less trouble from what I have been reading...
I'm very frustrated, and am thinking of returning the s****y Touchsmart and building a Windows 7 32bit or Vista 32-bit box... Maybe using XBMC or something and skipping the tuner all together, though the husband would really like to watch live sports OTA.

It is heavily restricted for public use.One strange problem that has cropped up is the Flash player in Firefox.I didn't install the plug-in before I locked down the user account. Afterwards I realized I hadn�t installed it so I logged on to the Admin account and installed the plug. The player now works fine when logged in as Admin or as a User with full privileges but won�t play in my locked down user account, where I still get a message saying the plug-in is not installed.

When it does load, the page becomes very choppy when I'm scrolling up/down and is generally slow to respond. It's the same for any website I have pinned to my taskbar.
The strange thing is, If I open up IE9 (non-pinned) and browse using the address bar everything is smooth and fast. I've cleared my temp internet files and reset IE to default settings with no luck. I've also tried un-pining then re-pinning website but it's still the same. Is there a way I can clear the cache for individual pinned sites?

View 1 Replies View Relatedlately while watching movies on my laptop the taskbar keeps randomly popping up at the bottom and then disappearing after a couple of minutes, this has only just started happening and it gets incredibly annoying when watching a film when attached to a separate monitor. its happening when watching videos on Internet,4od,bbc iplayer etc, anything fullscreen. its not just browser vidoes either, while watching dvds through vlc or wmp it is happening.

When I use any application, suddenly Help Windows for application will pop up and it will not go away. If I try to close it, it opens again. This problem is spread across applications. View 3 Replies View RelatedI run a Windows 7 64 bit, 6GB Ram, 1 TB, 2GB nvidia card system, that I recently did a factory restore on. It has worked great for the past 2 months since I did so. Until yesterday.All of a sudden, my mouse stops working. It is a wired laser mouse, and the laser wasn't on. I changed it's usb port, and it would try to install it again, and fail. I have no idea why. So, I use my keyboard to restart my computer.The restart takes forever. It took about 6 minutes to get to the windows screen. Still, my mouse doesn't work.But also, now, I have a problem where programs seem to run fine, but if I tab between windows, they maximize/minimize to the tray very slowly. I am not noticing a decrease in performance per say in the programs. (Just played some Guild Wars 2, while running the McAfee stinger, and google Chrome with 2 tabs, with no problem, getting about 50-80 fps while in combat) I looked at my task manager, which showed nothing out of the ordinary for stuff running (AVG antivirus, Chrome, Explorer, as the big ones).I am using AVG antivirus free, which is up to date, and have never had a virus in 10+ years of using it. Scan showed nothing either. All updates from Windows Update are set. I also use msconfig to disable all programs from starting up except AVG.
