I am trying to customize my version of Firefox Portable. I am wondering how I can keep it so it doesn't ask or even recognize local plugins that are installed on the host OS? Such as flash, shockwave, etc.
I recently locked down a PC's with LGP. It is heavily restricted for public use.One strange problem that has cropped up is the Flash player in Firefox.I didn't install the plug-in before I locked down the user account. Afterwards I realized I hadnt installed it so I logged on to the Admin account and installed the plug. The player now works fine when logged in as Admin or as a User with full privileges but wont play in my locked down user account, where I still get a message saying the plug-in is not installed.
I will be getting a samsung N310 for christmas and among the goodies in my stocking will be an external hard drive and some ram, I want to install Windows 7 ultimate 32bit onto it. I am aware the hardware can handle it but I am researching a permanant install of the OS onto the existing built in hard drive of the samsung(XP) from the portable HDD. So far I am unlucky and I cant find a tutorial. Getting the OS is fine, its Installing the bloody thing thats got me all conflustered.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated, and I can provide further information if any one needs it to answer the question.
My desktop pc crashed, and after some investigation it turns out that the main hard drive is probably dead... So I thought I would install Windows 7 onto my portable terabyte. Anyway when I tried to install Windows 7 onto my hard drive, I realised 2 things:
- Windows will clear my TB HD when it installs. and - Windows cannot install onto a USB device.
I need to install windows 7 on my portable hard drive without removing any data on it. I have tried to partition my hard drive with easyus as a friend recomended, but it says I need to convert it to a logical, and I cant do that because it says something about clearing the HD.
i bought my Portable super multi drive some months ago, and now my laptop is becoming lower and lower so i wanna redo it. change an explotation programm as widows XP, i have the portble but i lost my cd. i dont know what to do. so i was wonderinf whever i could download an installing cd by internet, to configure my laptop after changing the exploration system?
today Internet and other sites claim to require a new adobe flash plugin be downloaded, but even after going through the directions and running it and being told i am running flash whatever version and even restarting for good measure i come back and get the same flag that i need to instal this same plugin.
tell me a program or software i can buy to speed up my pc,it crashes constantly,or hardly will load completely, but i need something that will work on several pcs.an what is cpu an how can i fix it?
I just got a brand new Touchsmart 300z running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. I set up Windows Media Center, and added Mediabrowser for better TV show support.
Mediabrowser sometimes behaves normally, other times it gives me an INVALID APPLICATION unable to launch Mediabrowser error. I usually don't get the error when I first launch Mediabrowser. I usually get it (only sometimes) when entering one of the media collections, trying to play a video (again, only *sometimes*), trying to save settings, etc. The crazy thing is, sometimes it works.
It does seem to consistently give me the error for some video files. For others it might give me the error *sometimes*. Sometimes I can play the file without problem, other times I get the error.
All files play correctly in native Media Center, in the Touchsmart software (which also doesn't support TV series collections very well), and WMP.
Thinking this might be a video-related problem, I also installed Heatwave, GameEx, and mcShoutcast. Heatwave also gives me this error -- SOMETIMES. mcShoutcast and GameEx seem to always give the error. For kicks I also tried TunerFreeMCE - always gives the error.
I have tried various things like manually deleting caches, changing permissions for the ProgramData folder for the plugin to allow everything from the user profile that I log in with to run Media Center... Nothing has worked.
Yet I can use the native Media Center capability for videos, music, Internet TV, etc.
Basically, the upshot is that NO PLUGINS WORK CORRECTLY. I suspect that it is at least partially due to x64, based on the fact that when others have had the same errors that could not be resolved using the normal fixes, they were x64 also. Seems like the 7RC had less trouble from what I have been reading...
I'm very frustrated, and am thinking of returning the s****y Touchsmart and building a Windows 7 32bit or Vista 32-bit box... Maybe using XBMC or something and skipping the tuner all together, though the husband would really like to watch live sports OTA.
The yellow bar with the "update" message pops up on some sites, but not all sites. I hesitate to do updates on things I don't understand, so I'd like to get rid of that annoying popup.
I want to download and install Firefox . It gets confusing downloading Firefox from some sites. They seem to load your page with a lot of unwanted popup ads that I can't get rid of.What are the reliable sites to download such as Firefox ?
After 35 years of using windows products I have come across another one that leaves me in the dark. Maybe its old age (74). Can you help a senile old man?I am using Chrome and I want to listen to AOL radio. It plays awhile then I get a message that flashplayer has crashed. Flashplayer is enabled. This is a constant problem with Chrome. Pain in the butt.So I start up IE 9 thinking I will listen to AOL Radio. IE9 cannot find AOL Radio. In fact it says I am not connected to the internet. I am connected 24 hours a day and the MSN web page comes up before the message I'm not connected. So how could I not be connected to the internet? So, I decide I will try Firefox. Have not had it for a cupola years because of previous firefox problems. I download it from File Hippo with my Internet Download Manager.I open it, it extracts, then I get a message that says I may not have permission to run the program. It asks me to check one of two boxs. One with my user name or Administrator with a password. I don't have a password, but neither boxes work, no matter what I check. I am not allowed to run Firefox. Is there something new with Firefox that you have to have permission to run it?No. I do not have any bugs. I ran Avira & SuperAntispyware.I only use IE for updates. I use Chrome as primary browser. I am the only one that uses this computer.
When i get connected it open directly to internet explorer.I have already installed firefox as my default browser(control panel) but still internet explorer appear first. What can i do to ?
I just cant seem to get flash installed, windows7 32bit, and trying to install in Firefox. Im betting this has been asked before, but cant seem to find anything.
EDIT: Ok, feel a bit of an idiot, ran installer as Administrator, and that sorted it. Apologies for "noobish" error,
1. I going to do a clean install of Windows 7 32-bit in the next couple of hours. Can anyone tell me if Firefox supports the features of Windows 7 like the displaying thumb previews on the taskbar? And other features? I really don't want to use IE8!
2. I have some private files on my PC like my CV/Bank Card details, I want to put them somewhere safe and put a password on them, how do I do this without buying 3rd party software?
3. I have 2 partitions on my HDD, C and D. I will move my personal files to drive D. And do a clean install of Windows 7 on the C(currently Vista installed here) drive. Is this ok? Any issues I may experience?
i have comcast internet.usually this problem occurs when im on Internet. i use google chrome. whenever i browse Internet, in like twenty five minute of video watching my computer starts to freeze. there is a cicle spinning and screen becomes blurry. i cant do alt control delete to end task it, because nothin pops up when i click it. now when i use other sites like facebook, twitter, the internet starts to freeze like before, before it was only Internet, now its a lot of sites and i have to manually hot the power button and relogon. is it a good sign that my power button on monitor doesnt turn blue when i turn it on, it used to , but now it dont. i can not use firefox because it will not let me install it. i am an administrator for sure because i followed these steps.url...when i google mozilla firefox from google chrome, and install it, it says"you may not have the necessary permissions to use all the features of the program you are about to run. you may run this program as a different user or continue to run the program as the current user."when i click towards current user, my name and my last name initial is there in parentheses after the word current user although my account name is different. then its all gray at the bottom and under user name it says administator, and blank under password but i cant make any changes because it is gray. if i click okay, it disappears and nothin installed. and when i click at bottom run this program as the following user and then i see administrator under user name and nothin under password. the account i have is protected by a password. if i type in my username and password that i currently am using, i have one account on my pc, or if i press okay how it was given to me, it says logon failure: user account restriction. possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced."i use superantispyware, malwairebytes pro, avast free as a virus protection.and whenever i go to itunes, i have to end task it once because it always freezes on me the first time i access it, it does let me end task itunes though
We are implementing Windows 7 and Bitlocker as encryption. While this works brilliantly, I am now worried that our offsite engineers if they are given Local admin rights, can disable bitlocker. They need to install software onto there machines and this cannot be taken away from them. Problem is company policy also states that they are not allowed to disable the encryption, which is where my dilemma lies. I can lock down bitlocker through Grou Policy, but the offsite engineers are software developers so it wouldn't take them long to disable it if they do have local admins. Is there anyway at all I can give them access to install software without Local admins?
I'm well aware that you can boot from the CD and do a quick format during Windows 7 installation, but that's not what I need. I want wipe the disk in it's entirety before installing Windows. I'm getting some weird messages about disk errors during start-up and the EVGA tech support suggested that my last fresh install (done earlier today) didn't remove everything that was on the hard drive. I can't remember what he called it, but he said it could be less than a kb and cause the motherboard to try and boot from a partition that doesn't exist, giving me the errors. Is there some kind of formatting utility I can burn to a disc and wipe my local disk with?
I have this problem on a couple machines. I have created a user and put them in the local administrators group. They still get error messages when trying to install printers/browsers/programs and whe they try to run programs like IIS or device manager. The error says you need administrator rights to install or run the program. I have also disabled UAC to test that out. No luck.
My two min browsers at the moment are waterfox & chrome..As the title says, Im on a x64 version of Windows 7.Has anyone any advice for me on the best versions of Firefox/Builds of Firefox for a x64 windows?same with Google chrome.
I recently updated to Firefox 18. If I go to Windows' Control Panel and then click on "Uninstall a program", both Firefox 18 and Firefox 15 show up in the list of programs. Should I just leave it as it is, or should I uninstall Firefox 15?
By the way, I updated to Firefox 18 through Firefox's update feature, if that helps.
I'm a computer tech, and I service a lot of different computers for many different people. In the old days, I could make a bootable floppy with all my utilities on it, and be on my way. Now, of course, few people have floppy drives, but I still need a way to boot all the different computers I find, whether 32-bit or 64-bit. I created a Ubuntu Linux CD, but I don't know the software well enough to display any directory tree apart from the Linux system (I can't browse the Windows directories, or even see the Windows directories). I have a pair of new 16 GB USB flash drives that I would like to make bootable. What should I put on them, and how would I do it? I think I managed to get Win 7 64 on one, but that probably isn't the OS I want to use for my application.
