I just got a brand new Touchsmart 300z running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. I set up Windows Media Center, and added Mediabrowser for better TV show support.
Mediabrowser sometimes behaves normally, other times it gives me an INVALID APPLICATION unable to launch Mediabrowser error. I usually don't get the error when I first launch Mediabrowser. I usually get it (only sometimes) when entering one of the media collections, trying to play a video (again, only *sometimes*), trying to save settings, etc. The crazy thing is, sometimes it works.
It does seem to consistently give me the error for some video files. For others it might give me the error *sometimes*. Sometimes I can play the file without problem, other times I get the error.
All files play correctly in native Media Center, in the Touchsmart software (which also doesn't support TV series collections very well), and WMP.
Thinking this might be a video-related problem, I also installed Heatwave, GameEx, and mcShoutcast. Heatwave also gives me this error -- SOMETIMES. mcShoutcast and GameEx seem to always give the error. For kicks I also tried TunerFreeMCE - always gives the error.
I have tried various things like manually deleting caches, changing permissions for the ProgramData folder for the plugin to allow everything from the user profile that I log in with to run Media Center... Nothing has worked.
Yet I can use the native Media Center capability for videos, music, Internet TV, etc.
Basically, the upshot is that NO PLUGINS WORK CORRECTLY. I suspect that it is at least partially due to x64, based on the fact that when others have had the same errors that could not be resolved using the normal fixes, they were x64 also. Seems like the 7RC had less trouble from what I have been reading...
I'm very frustrated, and am thinking of returning the s****y Touchsmart and building a Windows 7 32bit or Vista 32-bit box... Maybe using XBMC or something and skipping the tuner all together, though the husband would really like to watch live sports OTA.
I tried to replace 3 files in the system 32 folder, and must have made a mistake along the way leaving my laptop inaccessible once logged on. The three files were:
uxtheme.dll themeui.dll themeservice.dll
I received these error messaged when logged on:dwm.exe - Application error the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click ok to close the application.explorer.exe - Application error the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click ok to close the application. Can system restore revert back the files so it was like i never attempted the patch?
I just upgrade from bulid 7000 to build 7057. when i try to connect to the Internet it gets connected but when i try to surf no page loads. when i clicked on diagnose problem it says my comp doesn't have a valid ip config, wat do i do
I suspect an ieframe.dll issue. It happens intermittently on two laptops in my home. Have reset modom and router, restarted computers. Google Chrome even cites Invalid URL!
I have a Dell E6410 running 32-bit Windows 7. When I boot the machine with an USB thumb drive attached I get an Invalid Partition Table error. I hold the power button down, remove the thumb drive and then power the machine up. It then boots with no problem.
HP Pavilion dm3 laptop OS Win7 No cd drive No recovery disks Problem: "Invalid Partition" at start Tried: All the F keys (they might as well stand for "f...ng nothing") nothing works.
I'm new here, guys, so don't shoot me down in flames if this has been covered. I've checked the search, but didn't come up with anything the same.I've just re-jigged the Good Lady's PC - it had some sort of virus. Wiped it & re-installed Win 7 Pro.Put back most of the stuff that was there & most everything works except anything that's a '.doc' file.Clicking on any one of those produces a 'Handle is Invalid' error & won't start. However, dragging & dropping on LibreOffice starts up the file & it can be edited. Saving it again does not fix the problemOne noticeable difference is that I have gone from MS Office XP to LibreOffice as the old XP was no longer opening some new file being sent to her (choir!).I am wondering if this may be the cause. I have a copy of MS Office 2010 & will try installing that & taking control of the .doc files. I'll see if that fixes it
I have setup the backup utility to use my network drive and create an image and copy the my doc folder. When I run the utility it will go through it's process for a long time before providing the following error information:
Check your backup
One of the backup files could not be created.
Details: The handle is invalid.
Error code: 0x8078002A
I am unfamiliar with what the error means and when I go to the network drive the backup zip files say they are also corrupt. Has anyone come across this, or have an idea as to what the problem may be?
Windows 7 automatic update downloads KB2586448 security update and sp1 but install fails. I have been trying to get theese updates on for 8 months. Tried from microsoft website, tried dissabling antivirus, spyware, tried in safe mode.
A few weeks ago my computer turned off unexpectedly while I was using it. When I tried to start it up again, I got a black screen with a blinking cursor. I tried going into BIOS and changing the startup order to no avail. It's now back on default. I also ran the system diagnostic and it said nothing is wrong.I got a Windows 7 repair disk and attempted to use that. I ran the startup diagonosis and restarted-- again a black screen with a blinking cursor. I restored it to an earlier point and restarted-- black screen with blinking cursor. I then attempted to restore it to other points but got an error message (0x8000ffff) each time. Finally, I tried command prompt and did "bootsect /nt60 ALL" which did nothing. So I tried "bootsect /nt52 ALL" which did nothing. I did both of those again with "/force" (which I'm now guessing was a stupid move, but I was desperate to try anything) and now when I restart I get a black screen with "Invalid partition table". When I try to go to system restore now it tells me there are no restore points.
I have a PC with windows vista installed. I recently bought windows 7 home premium and installed a fresh copy of it. Every time I download some software like Chrome, VLC, iTunes , it downloads fine, but when it has to install it gives strange errors. I have seen all kinds of errors.
E.g.: VLC gives NSIS error. Microsoft Security Essentials gives "File Corrupt Error". Got certificate invalid error for some other software. if I download zip files, they fail with CRC check.
Just to be sure it wasn't hardware issue, I installed vista as a second OS and that works fine. I am really uncertain what is causing the issue (seems network related though). I had an old router and just purchased a new linksys router. Other configurations are: Core 2 Quad, EVGA SLI ready motherboard, 4GB DDR2 ram, ASUS EN210 gphx card.
I tried to install FinalDraft8 on my system, but I'm getting the error message:"Error 1324. The folder path 'Norwegian (Bokm?)' contains an invalid character"I tried repairing the registry with CC Cleaner, but no use. his?My System Configuration:Dell Inspiron running on OS: Win 7 Home Premium 64 BitThe OS is in Korean, so I'm running Vistalizator for EN language.
I have a Dell Inspiron 560 and Windows 7; previously I had a Dell 5 years old and Windows XP. I am trying to access a website I have used previously with success but now am receiving error msg: Server Error in '/' Application, Runtime Error. I was able to access this website on my old system.
today Internet and other sites claim to require a new adobe flash plugin be downloaded, but even after going through the directions and running it and being told i am running flash whatever version and even restarting for good measure i come back and get the same flag that i need to instal this same plugin.
tell me a program or software i can buy to speed up my pc,it crashes constantly,or hardly will load completely, but i need something that will work on several pcs.an what is cpu an how can i fix it?
The yellow bar with the "update" message pops up on some sites, but not all sites. I hesitate to do updates on things I don't understand, so I'd like to get rid of that annoying popup.
I am trying to customize my version of Firefox Portable. I am wondering how I can keep it so it doesn't ask or even recognize local plugins that are installed on the host OS? Such as flash, shockwave, etc.
I recently locked down a PC's with LGP. It is heavily restricted for public use.One strange problem that has cropped up is the Flash player in Firefox.I didn't install the plug-in before I locked down the user account. Afterwards I realized I hadnt installed it so I logged on to the Admin account and installed the plug. The player now works fine when logged in as Admin or as a User with full privileges but wont play in my locked down user account, where I still get a message saying the plug-in is not installed.
I've been receiving a runtime error for over a week (see below) in IE8 when atempting to go to a specific webpage. At first glance, it looked like a server issue (mine) or a website "down" problem. After searching the web, I could not find a solution for this specific runtime error. There was a bunch of misinformation posted in other forums! The solution was so simple.... I cleaned out all cookies with CCleaner and the page was available.....This error does not show on a "pop-up" like the Microsoft samples. Thus, Microsoft was no help to me in this instance.
Error: Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
I have been having an issue with Windows 7 and a program called 'Jetcam' These errors appear to occur randomly and can happen 15 to 20 times in one day, others days it's fine.
I recently had a virus (windows 7 antivirus 2012) and I removed it safely. Now I am having problems opening programs on my system all around and I suspect it is a registry problem. I could open the programs via "Run as administrator" but that is a huge hassle (my user account has administrator privileges.) Another thing is when I try to open the program and it has the "select from one of the following to open" window, usually when i select a program to open it with there's a bottom check box for "always use selected..." but that is grayed out... not sure what is happening.I tried to create a new user and that new user can open programs fine.
I have a problem with my internet connection on my PC.The internet connection works fine, until I let my PC idle for about an hour or so. The connection then dies, but can be repaired by the Windows Troubleshooter which fixes the error message about the invalid IP configuration.I've reset the modem and the router many times. Windows 7 | PC connected with wire and wireless from router | Wireless keeps working to other devices, but not to PC
I recently had a virus-esque program on my computer called win 7 home security 2011. It was a fake anti-virus program that was telling me I had viruses in an attempt to get me to buy their fake product. Anyway, the program is now history but I am encountering more problems that may or may not be a side effect of the virus. When I try to open an application I get an error giving the file location of the application followed by the message "Application not found". I can get around this and open the application by following the file location given by the error message and opening it. It then forces me to choose which program to open it with, in which case I need to tell it to open it with itself...
This is very irritating and in many cases makes opening applications close to impossible. When I'm choosing the program to open it with, it won't allow me to check the box telling it to set the program as the default. Is there any way to solve this issue short of completely re-installing windows 7?
