Internet Keeps On Freezing / Cant Install Firefox Or Any Program
Jun 21, 2012i have comcast internet.usually this problem occurs when im on Internet. i use google chrome. whenever i browse Internet, in like twenty five minute of video watching my computer starts to freeze. there is a cicle spinning and screen becomes blurry. i cant do alt control delete to end task it, because nothin pops up when i click it. now when i use other sites like facebook, twitter, the internet starts to freeze like before, before it was only Internet, now its a lot of sites and i have to manually hot the power button and relogon. is it a good sign that my power button on monitor doesnt turn blue when i turn it on, it used to , but now it dont. i can not use firefox because it will not let me install it. i am an administrator for sure because i followed these steps.url...when i google mozilla firefox from google chrome, and install it, it says"you may not have the necessary permissions to use all the features of the program you are about to run. you may run this program as a different user or continue to run the program as the current user."when i click towards current user, my name and my last name initial is there in parentheses after the word current user although my account name is different. then its all gray at the bottom and under user name it says administator, and blank under password but i cant make any changes because it is gray. if i click okay, it disappears and nothin installed. and when i click at bottom run this program as the following user and then i see administrator under user name and nothin under password. the account i have is protected by a password. if i type in my username and password that i currently am using, i have one account on my pc, or if i press okay how it was given to me, it says logon failure: user account restriction. possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced."i use superantispyware,malwairebytes pro, avast free as a virus protection.and whenever i go to itunes, i have to end task it once because it always freezes on me the first time i access it, it does let me end task itunes though

Dec 19, 2012I recently purchased a new Toshiba 1tb HDD. My old WD 1tb HDD has been giving me trouble of late. I occasionally get the BSOD. Also, on occasion, when I reboot the computer it automatically runs the chkdsk program and reports several bad clusters. However the chkdsk program never seems to flag the bad clusters, so periodically, when I reboot, it runs and reports them again.
I would like to image or backup all of the files on my problem HDD, then do a fresh install of Win 7 Ultimate 64bit (my current OS) to the new HDD, then restore the cloned or image system and program files to the new HDD. I don't want to have to go through the process of reinstalling everything again, when everything seems to be working okay. Since the Win 7 image program makes and exact image of the HDD, then to use that program would cause the new install of Win 7 Ultimate 64bit to be overwritten by the image restore. Therefore, if there should be corrupt data under a bad cluster from the old HDD, that data would not be transferred and my existing problem would be transferred to the new HDD.
On the other hand, if I do a disk clone, I am not sure that the existing programs would continue to operate on the new HDD, and would require a fresh install of each program after the fresh install of the Win 7 OS! I would have then wasted my time doing a transfer of program/data files to my newly formatted and freshly installed OS.
Does anyone know of any program (Acronis True Image, Paragon, Norton Ghost, Macrium Reflect, etc.) that will let you image or clone the program and data (incuding the necessary operational files such as: Win32 system files, activation files, etc.) so that they will work correctly on the fresh install of the OS?

Nov 4, 2012I was trying to restore the computer the FIRST TIME I got it, but I've found out that the Recovery copy won't make any changes because I have two(2) Program Files for Internet Explorer, one is for 64bit OS, and the other is 32bit (x86).I've tried to enter in the command prompt: takeown /f "C:Program Files (x86)" /r /d n and it displays ERROR: The current logged on user does not have ownership privileges on the file (or folder) "C:Program Files (x86)". But I am the administrator and the owner of this Hitachi Laptop Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit OS.I could not play any movies via internet, and I don't know what plug-ins are missing, so I want to restore the computer to its Factory setting.

The program works on every machine it's been installed on, except for one (customer's) Win 7 64-bit machine. On that machine, nothing happens.
It's noteworthy that on that same machine an "insufficient access privileges" (or some such) message pops-up when an administrator trys to copy a folder to "C:Program Files (x86)CompanyNameNewName".
why this particular Windows 7 machine is being so picky? What should I have the installer do so that the application will be able to copy/rename its own files?

BSOD With No Dump Files Being Generated, Happens In Firefox And BF3
Jul 8, 2012These BSODs dont let Windows finish to create a dump file...as you can see in the pictures, it always hangs in the "Initializing disk for crash dump..." and then reboots. Only one time it finished, and it was something related to Ready Boost (which was never used or allowed to be used in the system, so I am considering this as not related to the problem...I already looked for BSODs related to Ready Boost, and it came in no help). So, since the Windows dont make a dump file, I am afraid the dump files collected from your "tool" are not related to this problem. I also believe that the Bluethoot devices listed as problematic in the diagnostic tools are not related to the problem also, since I almost never use any bluethoot device with my PC.After the system reboots from the BSODs it looks like the BIOS is weird, it usually says that "no operational system was detected", so I have to turn off the PC and then wait some time and turn it on again, and usually this makes the BIOS "see" the Windows again (sometimes I have to unplug the power cable and wait until all the LEDs are off). Just a couple of times the messages were different, like "The CPU could not be overclocked" opening another BIOS screen from American Megatrends.
These BSODs usually started just after I opened Firefox...my Firefox is with a little problem at the first start up...it starts to consume 25% of my CPU and hangs...I have to kill the firefox process and then open it back again to use it (the second time it loads fine)...if I didnt I would have gotten an BSOD in just a few seconds. This happened in a few other programs too, but randomly, first the process hangs, then the entire system and then the BSOD cames. Almost all the BSODs had no usefull data on them as you can see in the pictures.But since Firefox is a memory hog and some times I got KERNEL_IN_PAGE_ERROR and KERNEL_IN_MEMORY_ERROR (I dont have that picture I think), I started to believe that the problem may be in the RAM timings, or some other RAM related problem...Now with these new Ram timings I let firefox consume 25% of my CPU, at the first start of firefox, for minutes, and the system doesn't crash anymore. Also the only 2 times Firefox had set an BSOD it came with a message from Windows before, saying that "Instruction 0x123456 (i dont know the number :P) could not be read" and then it crashed explorer.exe and then the computer crashed. As I said, it's more stable, but still not "stable".

Jan 31, 2010I have recently installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. I have noticed it created two folders one "program files" and one "program files (x86). From what I have read so far the x86 folder is for 32 bit apps and the other for 64 bit apps. My question is:
I only want my OS and any critical apps on my SSD C drive so I created an E drive that I put all other apps on. On the E drive I have created only one folder "program files" and have been putting all other apps in it.
Everything appears to be working OK but should I have also created a folder x86 on the E drive and install all 32 bit apps in it or does the OS just know what to do regardless of the folder it is in?

My file and storage system is set up like this:
C: Drive - 120 GB SSD This is my Win 7 64-Bit Ultimate Boot drive. It has my most important Microsoft programs on it. Out of the 111GB available, I've used 42GB, leaving me 69GB free space. I want to keep this area open.
My next drive is a 1TB WD Caviar Black segmented into 3 partitions.
E: Drive = Program FIles This has the majority and rest of my programs. It also includes USERs Files. I've use 96GB out of 150GB. Out of that 96GB, 64GB are in USERS files.
F: Drive = Data Files. This stores all of my data except for media. I've used 91GB out of 350. I want to leave this be.
G:| Drive = Medsia FIles This stores all Media = Vids, Music, Graphics, Pictures. I've used 80 GB out of 500GB
I also have a 64GB ~ 55GB actual storage SSD drive that is partitioned but has no data on it or assigned drive letter.
Here is what I want to accomplish. i want to move my actual Program FIles to the 64GB SSD, assign it a drive letter, and keep the USERS files where they now reside on the F: dirve
My main concern is that in moving all these files around and splitting the USERS files from the Program Files that I'll mees up my Registry. Will someone please suggest some links I might read that will best help me acheive these moves.

Can you help a senile old man?I am using Chrome and I want to listen to AOL radio. It plays awhile then I get a message that flashplayer has crashed. Flashplayer is enabled. This is a constant problem with Chrome. Pain in the butt.So I start up IE 9 thinking I will listen to AOL Radio. IE9 cannot find AOL Radio. In fact it says I am not connected to the internet. I am connected 24 hours a day and the MSN web page comes up before the message I'm not connected. So how could I not be connected to the internet?So, I decide I will try Firefox. Have not had it for a cupola years because of previous firefox problems. I download it from File Hippo with my Internet Download Manager.I open it, it extracts, then I get a message that says I may not have permission to run the program. It asks me to check one of two boxs. One with my user name or Administrator with a password. I don't have a password, but neither boxes work, no matter what I check. I am not allowed to run Firefox.Is there something new with Firefox that you have to have permission to run it?No. I do not have any bugs. I ran Avira & SuperAntispyware.I only use IE for updates. Aug 31, 2011Running Windows 7 Pro, 64bit.We have a package of scripts and programs that comprise a custom application for OpenOffice 3.2 (do not want to upgrade OO at this point). We must support our package on Win XP, Vista and 7.A bunch of our scripts start up OpenOffice by running the command: C:Program FilesOpenOffice.org 3programsoffice.exe (with arguments).Works fine on XP. Fails on Windows 7 because the OO program installs itself into Program Files (x86). Even if I change properties of the installer file, in the Compatibility tab, to Win XP SP3, AND tell the installer to put it in C:Program Files, Windows 7 still installs it into Program Files (x86). We would LIKE to have the same script work on both flavors of Windows. I know we can modify our scripts to branch on which Windows, and choose two different paths to soffice.exe, but that's messy.I can't solve it by creating a shortcut in Program Files, to the program in Program Files (x86); that's not allowed.Is there some solution in Windows 7 to find the program no matter which place it lives? Like, a semi-intelligent environment variable for ProgramFiles that looks in one place, then the other?

Can't Run Installed Program Within Program Files
Feb 15, 2012I gave a try to the Setup Project of VStudio 2008 to create and distribute an x86 installer of a program I develop in Windows 7. After installing, uninstalling and executing over and over some of the features of my release distribution, I suppose I broke a windows registry or something related. I can't run anymore this app, whether from executing from the shortcut or directly, it just sends an error "Couldn't start the application correctly (0xe06d7363). Accept to close", there is no other option. Later I found out that moving exactly the installed content somewhere else out side the Program Files x86 dir, the application works flawlessly. Browsing, finding and deleting all references in regedit for my program didn't fix anything. I double checked my project is fine, and also created another installer version using the tool Inno setup producing exactly the same behavior; good install, error message when executing it inside the Program Files folder. Am clueless what else to do with the OS to fix this. Using CCleaner and/or my anti virus don't show any broken reference to my program, it seems clean. Can anyone help me?

Copying Files To Mydocs Or Program Files
Feb 3, 2009I tried doing this. Example, game files/data from my XPdocs on C: to my Windows 7 docs on D: couldnt do it, just gave me a chime, no dialogue box or anything. Also tried to move a file from my desktop to either mydocs or to program files folder, same thing. After that, even took ownership of all affected folders/files, ones being moved and destination folder. Still the same.
Question: is there some type of security setting i am missing? anyone else test this? I have moved files to mydocs before, and now i cant move anything to there, has me confused now. Nothing special about a file or folder i am trying to move, permissions ect.
Tried both cut and paste, and copy, same problem either way. No protected files/folders involved
Why Can't Delete Game Files From Program Files X 86
Jan 21, 2012I have 64 bit windows 7. I deleted dungeon siege 2 using the control panel, remove program. It was removed except for one file in Program files x86/microsoftgames/dungeonSiege2. I tried manually deleting it but get this "the action can't be completed because the folder or file in it is open in another program. Close folder or file or retry" There is nothing open. I clicked properties of the file and security and clicked administrator and get the same message. Never had this problem removing remnants of programs in xp.

Feb 25, 2012I have been using a program called Raw Therapee. I downloaded a new version and on installing it quit saying the old version must be removed. I could not find it listed in Revo Unistaller Pro, so I did a forced uninstall with the location of the main executable. This removed a lot of stuff. I checked the program folder and the folder and many files were still there, so I deleted them. I did a CCleaner in between and after. I then unhide and show system files and deleted the folders in the Appdata of main user and admin account, couldn't find it anywhere else.
CCleaner again and reboot. Went to install the new version again and it claimed that the old version was still installed. I did a search for *aw The* and found an entry in the hidden Program Data Folder. In the Admin account it will not let me in this folder to delete any remnants of the old version of Raw Therapee.

And the software itself has to be installed inside "Program Files" too, otherwise it won't work correctly (it's a new release and still a bit buggy).Now, when I add something to this library, it's supposed to be present in the library folder. BUT Win 7 doesn't show me any files that have been created by programs inside the "Program Files" folder. The folder where the new library is supposed to be is empty. But the library is there inside the program, so it has to be somewhere.Now, how am I supposed to backup those files if I can't access them?
